A few days later, called and left messages...no response.
End of story.
On day one, he ripped up about 15' feet of drive way, installed the culvert pipe, and repaved the driveway. He very carefully lined up on the culvert and the asphalt. The newly created angle of the driveway is improved over how it sat before and the pipe appears perfectly installed. He also added top soil to all lawn areas disturbed and placed hay over all areas, as well. This included both areas pulled up by the culvert install as well as areas disturbed by the treads of his equipment (excavator). The asphalt was dry less than 24 hours later. As an extra request,
On day two,
Again, the end result of the work looks great. We are very happy with the installation of both the culvert and the Yard of Bricks. The removal of the shrubs/bushes and trees is complete and looks good. I would definitely hire
not one time were they here when they said they would be, after the asphalt was done, the next morning it had rained.
the walkway portion of the asphalt had 6 low spots which had formed puddles. an employee coming to do some finish work to our foundation that got busted during tearing out old concrete for asphalt, seen puddles and stated " that's not good". the employee called " the owner " , the message i got was he would be there that day to look at it. i was told since it was still new and soft, it could be fixed easily. either by heating the asphalt up and beating a pipe into it and creating channels for the water to drain, or reheating it and compacting it more. i didn't want lines beat into my new asphalt . which didn't matter because " the owner "
was a NO SHOW. " the owner "
told employee to tell me " give it a week then call me " i called after a week " my guys will be there in a couple days " NO SHOW again.
aftermore unreturned calls , i get a call on a Wednesday saying we will be there by Friday. i had just got done cleaning asphalt with water hose and noticed now instead of 6 low spots , i now have 12 low spots scattered through out entire new asphalt, which tells me the foundation underneath the asphalt is sinking or settling bringing the asphalt with it.when the employees arrived and seen this his comment was " OMG". 1st thing employee tried was the channeling . after seeing channel and the discoloration on my new asphalt i told him no this isn't how i want it repaired. " the owner "showed up finally , stated that the following Tuesday they would come heat it up and compact it, on Wednesday they made it here , heated up 1 st spot , compacted it and left a nice grayish white blotch on my new patio. the employee stated these puddles are too deep to compact out. it was at this point i told them enough. when patio is dry there are no apparent defects at all, when its wet there are the puddles , they evaporate and over time will just seep through the asphalt. the repairs that they performed , or tried to perform have put very noticeable scars on my brand new asphalt. we will wait and seal coat it and cover up the blotches. i called the owner after his guys left and told him we were done and suggested i get some of my money back due to the job was INCOMPLETE and it now looks terrible. wouldn't you know he hasn't returned my call
We had several contractors out to bid on the project, and it soon became evident that it was too big for a general contractor. So we started looking at excavators. Ed's bid for the job was several hundred dollars under the closest competitor, probably because he does all the work himself using his own equipment.
Ed came out as scheduled, demolished the monstrous concrete pad, and hauled away all of the debris. To give you an idea of the scale, it took three trips with his full-sized dump truck to remove it all. In spite of the scope of the project, he managed to leave a relatively small footprint in the remainder of the yard, making just one track between the street and the removal site. That was a relief because we had a number of plants we didn't want to
We'd highly recommend him to anyone looking to hire an excavator.
He was meticulous and thorough with each project but nevertheless worked quickly and with efficiency. His manner was unfailingly polite and cheerful, inspiring confidence and allaying concerns about costs. He provided informative answers when asked.
His work required that he be in and out of the house which he managed unobtrusively.
Normally I really dislike the necessity of having strangers in the house but Mr.
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
