"I first found
on a well known website in which she described her alteration, sewing, custom work and interior design. We talked by phone" first and I found her very agreeable and a type of personality I thought I could work with--boy was I right on!
came initially to solve the issues surrounding fitting affordable online canvas drapes in front of plantation shutters due to the beating sun in our ruthless desert conditions. Within short order she knew what she needed to do, explained it to me and then removed the drapes to take to her home to adjust and sew accordingly. She returned and climbed the ladder and re-installed the drapes which now hang wonderfully well! To think I almost gave up hope on them. While here the first time I realized she could also help me with another problem--getting several pairs of women's slacks hemmed. I needed some for an upcoming trip and she had them (9 pairs) ready within a week. They were perfect! Since I've seen what's possible with one challenging patio door's covering, I asked her to find the right material to complete the window treatment of another patio door, challenging in yet another way. To that end she has a good idea of what she needs to do, has bought the fabric and is sewing between my demands (and others) of her time with other pressing projects. On a subsequent visit I asked her to help solve another problem. I have a lovely vintage quilt that we use on our CalKing bed but it leaves us fighting over every inch due to the historically smaller sizes of quilts generally. I asked her to use her imagination to create something along the lines of an extension all the way around 3 sides that would be similarly 'quilted' by machine lightly and sewn into the last seam of the existing quilt. She had just the idea of how to handle this 'flounce' for lack of a better word that will now give us greater utility of this heirloom piece without fighting so much. Since I saw how well
could handle this (working with vintage textiles) and creates such products on her own, I felt she could easily manage finishing the quilting process of 2 children's quilts. That is, I purchased 2 quilt tops online (auction) that were begging for completion. I wasn't sure anyone locally could tackle something like this. Mostly I think of quilters back east, south, midwest or plains.
's got it all figured out and is completing them as I write. Another problem solved! Without a doubt, the biggest and most challenging project I've asked her to help with is Organizing my Home! We are doing this working together but I don't know who I could have turned to with prior knowledge of whether I would easily get along with a stranger in my closet, for example like
! I gave her the basic parameters of not letting me off the hook. Since I've lost weight and don't want a 'safety' supply of clothes to fall back to I needed someone's help with action-oriented questions. She's a real pro this way too! So far, I've filled 2 large tubs for consignment stores (items still with tags that I couldn't find in that overstuffed
of a closet), and 6 lawn/trash black bags stuffed full for
store donation. She would ask, sort, fold, and those that remained 'survivors' of the process, she would carefully re-hang and position them by an organizational approach that she felt would work for me. Wow oh WOW. I felt like a million dollars watching those pieces of once-loved clothing march out my door for another
at life. I was never able to do this by myself, was too embarrassed to ask friends, and loving spouse was no help at all.
, however, was not stymied, in fact, she said she loves helping with Home Organization challenges. So, with one thing leading to another, after we tackle belts, scarves, purses and shoes, we will turn to the always overstuffed Linen Closet, Coat Closet, and the formidable Kitchen Cabinets! I'm so glad I found
and that she's so easy to work with, trustworthy, and efficient! I highly recommend
to you without reservation!

did a great job. She has a small but busy shop on the main throughfare here in Cape Coral. Her shop is full of clothes so I suspect she keeps busy.

One of the common complaints we see on Angie’s List in the alterations category is that clothes are not altered in time. Don’t wait until a week before school starts to get those clothes fitted properly because they might have a back to school rush. Keep in mind shops may also be busy this time of year with wedding alterations.

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

Clothing Alteration reviews in Spooner

it went very smoothly. The clothes were beautifully done. They looked brand new. I have had the coat for many years and have found that it is not easy to clean but they did a great job.

My Mom needed an outfit for my daughter's wedding. She had a beautiful three piece gold suit in her closet that hadn't been worn. The jacket fit perfectly but the top and skirt were now too big.

took in the sides of the skirt, took in the front of the top, raised the shoulders, and added straps to hold the bra strap in place. She did a great job. The suit fit my Mom perfectly after the alterations. The day of the wedding my Mom looked stunning in her gold suit.
I also want to comment on the shop being closed. I contacted

the day before she was heading out on vacation. She gave me the first appointment for the Saturday she returned. That was perfect. Went in on

The service was quick. The quality and price were just outstanding!!! After this very positive experience, I brought my dress in to be shortened. Again,
Spooner Tailors Provider Name Locked
provided a superb quality service (all done only by hand since the dress needed to stretch). I paid
only $21.00 for this excellent work.
Spooner Tailors Provider Name Locked
is both - a wonderful professional and a wonderful person.

I took a pair of pants in with a short rip in a seam. She fixed it right away and observed a problem with a pocket that she also fixed. It was a small job for which I was charged little, yet she did it immediately. Great service.

I had forgotten about dress that I had altered. I have been going to him for years. However, he had changed locations but I thought he had retired or gone out of business. I actually found his new address through Angie's List and he still had the dress. He is wonderful.

I had a bridesmaid dress to be altered, and called a handful of options that were recommended to me.
Spooner Tailors Provider Name Locked
was the first to respond so I set up an appointment with her the next day. She gave me several options to alter the dress, being very mindful of the cost associated with each option. She also provided me with information on what to do with the formal wear once I was done with it and gave me a small gift to give to the bride. Super sweet & professional to work with. She had the dress and a pair of pants done in three days and was very reasonable in pricing.
- Kristen R.

I tried on the pants in the fitting room.
Spooner Tailors Provider Name Locked
marked the hems being sure I was wearing the same shoes I'd wear with the pants to ensure getting the length right. He promised the pants would be ready in a week, and they were.
Although hemming knit pants is an easy job if you have a serger, given all of the formal wear, leather garments, and assorted other items waiting in the shop to be altered or picked up, it appears that
Spooner Tailors Provider Name Locked
is equally competent with far more demanding alterations.

We were quoted a date everything would be ready. On that date, however, the comforter and quilt were not ready. We were moving an hour away, but had to go back to Alteration Station about a week later to pick up the items. The female who called to say it was ready said they would refund some of the cost. My son went to pick it up but they only gave him the comforter. And the owner refused to give us a refund. I had to call them about the quilt and they had to locate it. I asked them to send it because I did not want to have to drive an hour each way, just to pick it up. I also asked for an adjustment on the price, which was VERY expensive, for the trouble and gas the first time. They refused.
Very poor customer service and very irresponsible with my things.
