"It was a really good experience and they are very professional and timely. The gentleman was a very nice person who shows concern for the work he does. He did an" excellent job and the fireplace looks great! He even took the time to show us things about the fireplace that we didn't know.

"
and
did a great job and I'm very happy with the result. I was on a tight timeline and he was able to shift some" things around to get my fireplaces done before my big event. He came to my house, showed me pictures of his previous work to help me get inspiration, and we talked about what I might want to do. He gave me a quote and we set up all the details right then. I later met him at a stone company where we picked out the stone I wanted. He also brought examples of the kind of materials, shape and stain he would be using to make the actual mantels. This was all very helpful to allow me to see most of the actual materials before if was even really purchased. I didn't have to worry that anything was miscommunicated or would turn out different than I was expecting. Because it was a full-wall stacked stone for one of the fireplaces, the project took about a week.
, the tile guy, arrived at around 10 each morning and called me each day to let me know before he was going to get there which was great. He worked until about 4 or 5 and it took 5 days of this to get the hearth and the fireplace built.
came on a couple of the days to make sure everything was going smoothly and also to install the actual mantels he was making off site. Everything turned out beautifully in the end and I was very happy with the work. My only caution was that my living room was totally covered in dust and grout particles at the end.
did spend time cleaning all the major stuff, but there was just a film over everything in the room. I did know to expect this and a lot of stuff was covered up, so I don't think he did anything wrong, it's just something to expect. The only bad thing was that some of the grout dust did get all over the place and that stuff is actually really hard to clean. So even today I can still see a film on some of the stone and my tile floor around the area. I haven't had a
to get grout dust cleaner and scrub myself yet, but this is probably something I would have liked to know ahead of time to either know how to clean it better, or just be prepared. All in all, even with my slight complaint, I'm very happy I hired
and I love the end result.

The Angie's List Guide to Winter Maintenance

It's the time of year when the winter weather can take a toll. Follow this winter maintenance checklist to protect your home, your car and your health.

Fireplaces

Most people enjoy sitting in front of a fire on a cold day, but traditional, wood-burning fireplaces come with a few disadvantages. They tend to waste energy, require maintenance and pose some risk. Read this guide to discover several alternatives that provide the same ambiance, but with fewer downsides.

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

Everything went fine. The way the tech cleaned it I could've done myself. He gave me an estimate of about $1,500 to have all of this work completed on the fireplace that I don't feel was necessary. I felt the deal was just a way to get them out here and upsell.

Our gas fireplace insert which we use all winter long went out and I could not get it to re-light, even though the pilot light was on. I was afraid something had broken and we would be in for an expensive repair. After calling several other companies and getting either no answer or a tech who would be able to come out and look at in in a few weeks,
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
said they would be able to come out the next day. The tech arrived on time and within about two minutes showed us a switch that needed to be in the "on" position. That fixed our problem. He then spend about 1.5 hours cleaning and servicing the insert. It works great and looks even better.
I highly recommend

for their service and professionalism.

did an excellent job on servicing my fireplace. He took the time to rearrange the decorative rocks and material, cleaned the glass, and now my gas fireplace unit burns beautifully. He also took the time to show me the mechanics of the panel features below. I wasn't aware you should turn off the pilot light during the summer when the fireplace isn't in use. And even though he had to reschedule and then on the rescheduled day, he was running late, he called me frequently to let me know why and when he was arriving so I really appreciated that. I loved the work he did on my fireplace and I would definitely recommend

promptly returned my call and I was a bit pleasantly surprised that he set up an appointment for the next day on a Sunday. He was very personable and seemed to love his job. He showed us how to take care of the fireplace as he replaced the ignitor, cleaned the fireplace and reset the logs. He put in new embers which looks really great. It's nice to be able to use our fireplace again.

Terrible experince. This company will rip you off. Not only are the prices unreasonable, the owner is rude and unprofessional. Check the Yelp reviews which will say the same. (My husband booked this guy w/o checking reviews)
The service rep was nice enough. Spent an hour and a half at our house. Fixed one break in the main gas line that runs from our house to our outdoor gas lanterns. Charged us over $600. This was not the agreed upon cost. When we asked questions the owner,
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
, became confentational, rude and condescending.

The company is unprofessional and a complete rip off.
