"I bought a $99 certificate for $500 toward a direct vent gas fireplace insert. Good deal. I felt like
's prices seemed a little" high, but the quality was good. The big surprise was the labor cost to install. Almost $900! After the cost of the other accessories were added, the $1900 insert was now up to $4500. I was not happy, but still decided to go ahead. However, the chimney has some issues, and needed a "special" cap installed. I understood that and was expecting a little higher cost. It was $500 more! The salesman tried to explain that it had to be custom made, etc, and they could have charged even more labor. Not a good thing to say. I reminded him they were already getting $900 for that. I contacted my brother-in law who is a union sheet metal worker for 30+ years. I told him what they were doing, and he almost choked when he heard what they wanted to charge. He told me how the piece is fabricated and the cost of the sheet metal. That's when I finally decided I did not want to do business like that. I don't mind paying for quality, especially when it comes to professional installers, but their is a limit. Went to
's and am very happy, and have a few more dollars still in my pocket

Fireplaces

Most people enjoy sitting in front of a fire on a cold day, but traditional, wood-burning fireplaces come with a few disadvantages. They tend to waste energy, require maintenance and pose some risk. Read this guide to discover several alternatives that provide the same ambiance, but with fewer downsides.

Dear Angie: How much can I expect to pay to have my wood fireplace converted to gas? Our house is about 30 years old. The bottom of the fireplace looks like it's easily accessed through the basement. The conversion would involve running 30 to 50 feet of gas line. — Thomas M., Cincinnati, Ohio

He hasn't legally abandoned the job as long as he is still showing up and doing something, even if it is very little, from time to time.  You'll have to fire him first.  Have documentation that the job is not being done in a timely manner, showing when he has and has not worked.  Be ready for a fight and probably a legal battle since he will likely still want more money or won't refund money paid for incomplete work.

Change the locks and inform the contractor their services on your property are terminated.  Tell him if anyone representing his company enters your property they will be considered trespassing and will be prosecuted.  Then hire another company to check the work he has done to make sure it is right.  Somehow I doubt it is given the nature of his work ethic.  Then have the new contractor repair any bad workmanship and finish the job.  Keep records as any documented things that have to be redone will help your case against the first contractor.

I would recommend finding a good hearth retailer in your area and work with them to select a stove that is right for your home. They should also be able to arrange for certified installer to handle the installation. Keep in mind many areas require a city or county permit for the installation, and it may be wise to have the chimney and fireplace inspected by a certified chimney sweep beforehand.

It went very well- he was on time and courteous. He had a cloth which he used to put the glass on in order to clean it. We were very pleased with the work.

'We called JH
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
to install a top sealing damper on a fireplace for a home we recently purchased. The fireplace was a prefab and the original damper was warped and could not be closed. The damper could not be replaced since the fireplace was a prefabricated unit. JH
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the only company we could find to offer us the option of the top sealing damper as opposed to completely replacing the fireplace at a cost of over $5,000 estimated by other companies, which would not even include repair to drywall after the new chimney was in place. I am so happy we found JH

and a much cheaper alternative to replacing the fireplace unit.
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was our technician and he was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He had also been our technician previously for chimney cleaning which was purchased through an Angie's list deal. We will defintely use JH

in the future and will recommend them to our friends and neighbors!

It went really well. From the beginning of the project at the showroom to the installation, they provided good communication and kept us up to date with delivery, provided a 3rd-party inspector to check out our chimney, and when they would be coming out to install the unit. At the showroom, they spent a lot of time with us to pick out the right unit for our space, and were patient with all of our questions. The insert provides the heat that we expected, and is a wonderful addition to our living room space. We use it almost daily from November through March, and to date, we've never had an issue.
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
recommends an annual cleaning as well, and we do as well - their service is very thorough, and while we've never had a problem, it's good piece of mind when working with gas in your living space.

was the first craftsman to respond to us. He came out immediately, gave us a fair price estimate, and upon approval, scheduled our job within a week. He did a great job for us, and the fireplace looks fantastic.

They arrived promptly, did their work and cleaned up after they were done. They also provided the brick to fill the openings. The work was very professionall done. Getting in touch was more difficult, I suspect, because this is a small business, one or two man, and the owner does not return phone calls as fast as most people would like. Once we connected, all went smoothly.

A very stressful day. First, when the installers and the sales rep arrived, we were told that we had not ordered granite for the desk and side counter when in fact these areas had already been templated. We felt that this was a ploy to get more money out of us, especially when the salesman( a totally disorganized man) left to retrieve the missing granite. I am sure that the missing pieces were not cut the same day as the installation. In addition, out cabinets were damaged during installation. In addition, when I prepaid the bill in full prior to the installation,I asked ifmy countertop gas burners would be reinstalled as I knew that the faucet for the sink would not be,I was told absolutely "yes." This sales rep just tells you what you want to hear. Then when the truth is exposed, he looks at you like you are lying or have ten heads.Overall, a very stressful experience. We will never use
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
again.

Have two fireplaces from different manufacturers. Couldn't find a service provider that wanted to do both, but was referred by one of them, ironically, to DeCerio's, as someone that would be willing to work on all makes. Didn't want to have to have separate appointments for each fireplace so this was great. Called DeCerio's and received a prompt call-back for scheduling my appointment.
Oregon Fireplace Contractors Provider Name Locked
was punctual on the day of the service call, and was very friendly and professional in the performance of the work. He provided some tips for maintaining the fireplaces in top working order as he worked on them. He even went the extra mile, calling the manufacturer of one of the fireplaces to find out about one of the features on the remote control that should have been intuitive but was not. He called me the next day to advise me of the feature solution, which I was able to address myself. It's very rare to find someone that cares that much about the work that he performs and his customers. You can tell that he enjoys the work that he does, and the people he meets. I also believe that the work was performed for a fair price. I would highly recommend FR DeCerio.
