"We first contacted
on the 8th of November (after reading the Angie's List reviews) along with several other design and remodeling firms," (ALL from Angie's List).
- the office manager got back to us immediately ( who was very nice and effecient).
made themselves available for an initial free design consultation only four days later - the fastest response we experienced. We had already done our research on the choices available for new cabinetry, and had some idea what we wanted. We spent the winter considering exactly what it was we wanted to do, and awaiting weather conducive to having open windows and doors for the work duration (i.e. NOT winter). We went with
for several reasons - all of their employees work for them, they do not sub-contract the work or hire sub-contractors. Our designer Cemil Yilmaz (who was wonderful to work with - very nice, well mannered, and efficient) worked with us, went through several design changes and plans (Cemil came to our house at least 3 times) until we were comfortable and never charging us a fee. Although their price was not the lowest, the quality of the design, plans, products and the personalized treatment sealed the deal for us. Every one in this organization did everything they could to put our minds at ease and reduce the amount of stress that is common during construction. We have had our share of bad experiences and shoddy work from Licensed Contractors, so we took our time, read reviews and contacted references before going ahead with the remodel. The formal contract was signed April 2, 2014, the work began the day after Memorial Day -May 27, and the remodel was completed in mid-August. The work was supposed to be completed by
6th, but the delays were for legitimate reasons related to the remodel. We are now just writing the review because we wanted time to enjoy the new rooms and see if there were any issues. We had a wonderful experience and we plan to use
again for our Master bath/bedroom and additional bathroom remodel, provided we get
Soesilo and Advent Tjhia back as our team again. Those two gentleman are amazing! Our newly remodeled rooms are beautiful and fabulous! Professional photos have been taken and have been uploaded to a number of different design sites. We did major remodeling and landscaping in 2014 all done by Angie's list recommended vendors and have been very happy and satisfied with the work (please see our other reviews). The process was satisfying from beginning to end. Both the designer (Cemil Yilmaz) and remodeling team (
Solieso and Advent Tjhia) were professional and capable. We began with a partial remodel plan (replace counter tops and appliances, rebuild the island, and build a window seat) but in thinking through the process made the decision to fully remodel/modify and update kitchen, family room, laundry room and a powder room. Permits for electrical/plumbing/gas lines/structural changes, were pulled for the entire project and all passed. At no time did Cemil pressure us to do any of the work - it was a design collaboration, which took 4 design plans (and included the appliances specs). Because this was a very big job, and their largest to date, we were very nervous. However, Cemil assured us he would send his best crew for this job. He was not kidding...
Soesilo (the team lead who is both a licensed plumber and electrician) and Advent Tjhia are the most considerate, hard working, effecient and talented artisans and individuals we had ever met. They had our trust immediately! Cemil was the designer and project manager, when the job began, he left on personal leave for one month, Armagan (also designer/project mgr) took his place during that time (before Cemil's departure, he came over to our house with Armagan and went over the entire project). Day one of the project, Armagan (a very nice , well mannered and capable person) came to our home and went over the entire project with
. During the course of the month Armagan would drop in to check on the project, he would also provide us with updates, let us know what the next phase was and answer any questions we had. The team leader (
) always kept us informed and provided us with updates. Cemil returned a month later and took over, and would check-in and follow up with all of us. Our family left
8th for a planned one month vacation in Hawaii, the construction continued and we left the key and alarm access with
, stipulating that they were the only ones allowed un-escorted access - if anyone else was required to support the work
or Advent were the required chaperones. As is often the case with updating, there were unanticipated challenges in taking an 80's looking kitchen (that was remodeled by the previous owner from 1997-2005) up to the present day, but each challenge was met with a careful review of available choices and a solution was agreed to by the designer, the remodel team lead
Soesilo and us before proceeding. Our home is made of brick and was built in 1985. We had purchased the home in 2005, prior to the original owner placing it up for sale they had remodeled the kitchen/family room/laundry room/powder room during a 5 year span. During the course of remodeling each room it was evident that the previous remodel was not to code, and that corners were cut on most of the work; ALL issues were addressed, fixed/repaired/updated and in compliance with
County Building codes. And because of all of this we were glad that we went ahead with a full remodel rather than a partial one. Throughout the process
and Advent were careful to protect the unmodified parts of our home, and to respect our families privacy to the degree such a thing is even possible. They put up plastic barriers in the rooms they were working in, removed their shoes every time they entered our home, placed floor runners and mats to protect our floors (wore their shoes only on the floor runners) arrived on time everyday, and cleaned up the work area each day before leaving. All job site trash was picked from our property either that day or within two days. We never had a dumpster in front of our house or a pile of trash. Our neighbors all made comments about how quickly the trash removal process was, they were very impressed. Details: Kitchen - Phase I - Demolition: removed ceramic flooring, kitchen cabinetry, island, crown molding, knee wall and old appliances. Phase II - Electrical and Plumbing: Opened walls and flooring.. re-wired, added additional circuits, re-routed ceiling lights, split-out circuits and re-ran duct work. Added gas line, additional dedicated water lines, moved water lines, repaired and updated current plumbing lines to code. Phase III - Leveled and prepared sub-floor, laid thin-set and Durock, installed Porcelain wood tile and grout. We did not seal the floor because of concerns that the grout color may change and the texture of the floor would look and feel different (we never wear shoes in our home). Phase IV - New walls and hung new Medallion custom with glass doors and semi-custom cabinets, built custom housing for plumbing that were behind ugly soffits too costly to move (which matched the cabinets and crown molding), built new island, custom window seat and cabinet for professional
and telescoping
downdraft, wine bar with glass doors, patched walls and ceiling, painted, added wall tiles - glass and stone backsplash, re-created chair railing (where the knee wall was that separated the kitchen and dining rooms and ultimately removed) added new crown molding. Phase V - Installed Granite (1 grade below exotic) counter tops, new professional appliances, deep sink, and faucets (pot filler and sensor sink faucet). Laundry room (adjacent to kitchen) - Phase I - Demolition: removed ceramic floor and washer and dryer. Phase II - Leveled and prepared sub-floor, laid thin-set and Durock, installing Porcelain wood tile and grout. Phase III - Painted and patched walls and ceiling, Phase IV - installed new pantry cabinet, re-installed washer and dryer. Family room/Fireplace - Phase I - Demolition: removed marble tile and crown molding, opened walls on both sides of fireplace. Phase II - Re-tiled fireplace and seating, laid tile adhesive and Durock, installed stone tiles. Phase III - Created opening in walls on both sides of fireplace for 2 windows (they had to break through 2 layers of solid brick walls), reinforce the walls and the openings (the windows were installed by Apex), framed the windows. Phase IV - Installed built-in cabinets on both sides of the fireplace below the windows, added stone tile around the cabinets below the windows, added granite counter tops to cabinets and granite fireplace seating. Phase V - Painted - patched walls and ceilings, repaired chair-railing, installed matching crown molding. Powder room - Phase I - Demolition: removed marble tile floor, cabinetry, mirror, lighting, sink and toilet. Phase II - Plumbing: opened wall re-routed plumbing for wall mounted faucet. Phase III - Floors and walls, installed porcelain floor tiles, marble floor separator, glass tiles on the wall, new mirror and lighting fixtures, patched - painted walls and ceiling. Phase IV - Plumbing finishes, installed toilet and wall mounted faucet with handles. Since the remodel,
has sent
back to our home to adjust/fix a few minor issues due to settling and to change out a few cabinet doors. I am still not sure if we need to seal the kitchen floor, but so far we have had no issues or stains. However, Cemil told us if we decide to seal the floor he will send
and Advent back to do it.

"We went through the usual procedure of getting the quotes from different contractors for the renovations. I must say his quote was a little high but there were" some who were even higher. We chose him because of his enthusiasm for the work and the way he discussed all the possibilities and the materials we could use. He spent a lot of time discussing and understanding what we really wanted and eventually we are very happy with what we have. i would like to say that in the master bathroom he misunderstood the way i wanted the tiles and before i could say anything he had ripped them out and laid them exactly the way i had envisioned. Both the bathrooms look very beautiful and everytime we look at them we bless him and his team.
, his son and
are a very good team. Every morning they arrive punctually at seven thirty (you can set your watch) and spend a few minutes planning the day. They work very hard and conscientiously; they are meticulous and precise.
makes every effort to be perfect and sometimes spends hours to get it right. The one thing I really liked about him was that he accompanied me to the kitchen store, the tiles store and the bathroom store to choose and advised me what would go with something I really liked. He was very happy to share his knowledge and experience and would not hesitate to correct me. One the whole renovations can be pretty taxing but when you have the right crew it can be fun. I am already considering him for another project. We wish him all the very best!!!

Angie's Answers

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

Remodeling reviews in Eau Claire

Overall the installer (
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
) was nice and pretty responsive. He came out the weekend after I called for the quote which was nice. He installed the backsplash in a day. However, there wasn't a lot of attention to detail. Several of the tiles that had to be cut were not cut strait (looked almost like chips). There was grout all over the granite countertops afterwards. The grout in the corners of the backsplash by the walls was pretty sloppy. Several of the rows were not straight. The backsplash looks nice from a distance, but if you spend any time looking at details you can see it looks hastily done. The price was good though; so if you're looking for a cheaper alternative then this might be a good option. If you're looking for someone to do your backsplash in a $30K kitchen, then I would go elsewhere.

I forget the young lady's name, but she was excellent to work with. She and my wife clicked and even though our kitchen was small, she was very interested in our project and wanting everything to go exactly how we wanted. She was innovative and interested, she cared about the final product. We went to a variety of kitchen places and they wanted to just basically replace what we had and not use any imagination at all. The young lady at
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was 180 degrees different from the others. We would go back to
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
if we had a need. we were extremely satisfied with the service and value.

I am very happy with how
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
took care of all the project for us.
He removed our old framed garage (very bad state) and built a new one made of cinder block from scratch. I was able to see the progress on the project on a very frequent basis and what I really liked is that
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was always looking out for the quality of the end product.
He didn't look for shortcuts and what I really appreciated is that he was looking at details of things that you don't even see once the project is finished, including work in the foundation of the garage and things
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
behind the walls or ceiling.
Overall I would highly recommend
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and his team for construction projects if you are looking for a great end result.

After having a signed contract for a specific color, style & pattern, we received a call that the color tub we wanted was not available. They pressured us to get a white tub as that was in stock and there would be no waiting. For the price of the job, we did not want a white tub. Back to the showroom we go to change our order, which resulted in another couple weeks wait. On the date of install, the 2 installers showed up and went over the job they were instructed to perform. They worked all day, cleaned up and disposed of all the mess. The job that was done was not the same quality that we were shown in their showroom with the displays. Some of the problems were not the installers fault. They were given the wrong dimensions by the estimator, who happened to be one of the owners. They were responsible for the problems with the joints, corners and plumbing. After waiting the 24 hour wait time for use of the shower, the shower head leaked. After 2 days, the shower head leaked and sprayed all thru the bathroom, over the top of the shower curtain to the bathroom cabinets. I got a wrench to tighten the shower head and slow the leak. The next morning, I called
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
and spoke to the receptionist; she said someone would get back to us. After 3 days, I went to the showroom and asked why someone had not gotten back to us. She said she would send someone within 1 1/2 hours.
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
showed up within the allotted time and installed a new shower head. My wife asked why no one had ever called to check on the job. He stated that they normally do not call for 5 days on jobs. My wife then asked why no one had gotten back to us when we had called. He was very vague stating that people were probably in and out then. My wife then told
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
that she would like the owners to call and discuss with them the poor customer service we had encountered. We have never received such call nor a call to check to see if there are any other problems. For the price of the job, it was mediocre at best. I even go so far to doubt the lifetime warranty. I also asked about a particular cleaner to use on the tub and was told definitely that I could use it. When they gave us a list of products that are approved, it was on the list of products that you definitely CANNOT use. I cannot stress how disappointed we are with
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. They have commercials constantly on tv and appear at all the home shows. Please be aware of their lack of customer service, no return calls when requested and lack of knowledge and facts on their own product.l

I have used Loyalty once before for a remodel to a different bathroom. I called them again based on the excellent work they did for me previously. As before, all contractors provided a high level of professionalism and skill with their respective trade. My project manager was attentive and responsive to any issues or concerns that I had throughout the project.
There were no "
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
" charges and the job went very smoothly. We are extremely pleased with the results and are enjoying our beautiful new bathroom everyday.

My tiny bathroom needed a complete gut remodel. Knowing a remodel for this room costs more than $350.00 per square foot and this room was not going to be remodeled again in my lifetime, I wanted it done right. Both design aesthetic and quality workmanship were quite important to me . I only interviewed contractors after I did much research on the necessary work, the ratings of local remodelers and lots of window shopping for the finishes . In my mind, I could envision the bath as it would soon look and anticipated having the job done.
After contacting a few companies I decided to have
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
handle my project.
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
seemed to be professional and willing to listen to my ideas about the design. On October 31, 2014 I signed a contract and
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
said that the project would commence in 3 or 4 weeks and should be completed in 8 days. Add that up and it's approximately 6 weeks to finish the job. The job would be completed by Christmas. Sounded really good to me.
First, you should know that
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
does not offer much for baths in their showroom, particularly for limited budgets. Sure, I like $45 per SF tile. I only wish that I could afford it,too! As they did not have any samples of tiles or sinks I envisioned using I said I’d order "my dream finishes” myself. I was told that could not be done, that I must select from finishes they offer. My first mistake. Regrettably, I then picked somewhat acceptable substitutes from their limited tile samples and an acceptable vanity based on a photo in a catalog. Looking back, I wish I held my ground to get the finishes I really wanted. I should have insisted I would purchase these items myself for
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
to install or ,if necessary, found another contractor for my job.
Six weeks after signing, on December 11,
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
finally began the job with no real explanation or apology for the delayed start. I was not happy that this job was going to go right into Christmas. The demo of my mud bed tiled bathroom was a difficult, dirty job I am sure .
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
both worked very hard. However, a major complaint was they did very little to control the incredible amount of dust this demo created. I was shocked that they did not even bring a Shop Vac to their job sites and only used brooms to sweep. Also, they set up work space in a spare bedroom without my knowledge or prior consent . While they covered the bedroom floor they should have advised me to move or cover other items in the room before they set up the work area.
The next phase of the job went well as all the new plumbing lines and the tub were installed. Now they were ready to tile. Incredibly, both the wall and floor tiles
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
brought in were unsatisfactory to me. The wall tile that I was encouraged to order in
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
’s showroom was larger than the tile the installers delivered. I was told it could be returned but I would have to wait another week for the proper size tile to be ordered.
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
claimed this all the was the fault of the tile showroom. Once again, no apology from them. At this point I was so frustrated with the delays and the impossibility of any holiday celebrations at my house that I told them to install the smaller tile . I just wanted the job done.
Next they brought in my floor tile. It looked nothing like the small sample I saw in
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
’s showroom. The grey mosaic tile I chose turned out to be both gray and tan when seen in full sheets. No way was this tile something I would settle for. What’s worse was that I was made to feel that this color issue was somehow my mistake and that
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
was doing me a great favor by purchasing a different tile for me as "they would not be able to return the special order and would have to eat the cost". At this point I was beyond angry. I went to their tile supply house where I ended up with the only all gray tile that was available in stock. This tile was nothing I would have chosen but a t least the color was right.
Still moving on, at the last moment on December 29 I was told my vanity arrived damaged and that they could install a temporary vanity. They installed a $70 Home Depot vanity and told me the correct one should be delivered in two weeks. I have not heard anything from
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
about this vanity in over three weeks.
Today is January 26, 2015, over 12 weeks from signing, and this project is still incomplete. Each time I enter the room I'm reminded how unhappy I am with my decision to use
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. I’ve got walls and floors covered with very generic, no- style- whatsoever tile I really dislike, a cheap-o vanity, a ruined holiday and a lot of dust, dirt and aggravation for all my due diligence and big money. What a disappointment.

My advice to you is stay away from
Eau Claire Kitchen And Bath Remodelers Provider Name Locked
. They do not deliver on their promises.
While the actual workmanship seem to be okay, dealing with this company is impossible. They are good at making excuses, causing delays and in general showing little respect for the client. I wonder, is their motto “The customer is always wrong”?

and Lucky were awesome. They were friendly, considerate, professional and we enjoyed having them in the house. The were kind towards our children and our dog and did a great job on the things we needed them to do. They asked us to approve every room they painted and fixed the small things that needed touch-ups. They also worked very hard, were always on time and cleaned up nicely. We would highly recommend them for painting and will call them again!! A+++

Vic know his business. 2 room additions for a total of 800 additional sq ft to our home. Very reliable and the job was finished on time. Both rooms are beautiful and well constructed. The rooms look like part of the original home which is great........ The den has a huge brick fireplace and the walls are lined in beautiful Redwood planks, straight from
