When he did arrive, I took him in to show him the area where the job was. He seemed surprised that the carpet had been previously laid, expressed frustration that the individual rolls had not been marked with the dimensions and that he would have to measure them before he could start, that each bedroom had a radiator he would need to work around and that tack strips were not already down.
No one asked us any of these questions when we called to get a quote. We were clear the house was in Shaker Heights and I would be astounded if this is the first job done in this suburb that has an older housing stock full of radiators. This man’s attitude stunned me. He actually said in a very negative voice, “This is a real pain. What I’m getting paid for this job is not adequate.”
Can you imagine?
He did not say, “I think there has been some misunderstanding about the amount of work and I need to call the company before
I can begin.” Clearly there was a disconnect somewhere between what we were told and what he was told.
He also was very vocal about one piece of carpet that had been folded which we had brought merely as back-up for the stairs in case we were short. Again instead of saying, “I’m not sure I can use that piece because….” He fielded another angry
While we were discussing if we wanted someone with his attitude working in our house, he went out to his truck to call in. He then returned and said he was leaving, in fact that his supervisor had told him to leave!
By the way, we were willing to have someone come to inspect the job and prepare an estimate, it was not requested. We accepted the price the company gave us with no attempt to knock it down. Although this company came well recommended we have never been treated this way by any contractor and would not recommend this company to anyone.
We are aware that the company is engaged in community philanthropy and applaud them for their generosity. Perhaps they can also train their installers to employ good will toward their customers when there is an unexpected issue.
We scheduled for the 20th. The two young men who came were very professional and courteous. They did an excellent job.
It was so great to have someone in your house that you feel you can absolutely trust. I know they have a great reputation, and I understand why.
It is now 2 years later and the carpeting is holding up nicely - no buckling whatsoever!
Everyone that I dealt with was very friendly, accommodating and professional. I highly recommend
We finally figured out what we wanted and agreed on a price and scheduled the install. The installers were very nice but only the head installer (foreman) spoke English. They were proficient in installing the flooring but didn't understand the importance of staggering the wood image. They just took pieces of flooring from the box and put them down. My wife told the head installer to make sure the pieces were staggered but we weren't sure if they understood or they just weren't doing it. We called the installation supervisor and he came out the next day and had them rearrange two areas of flooring to give them the proper look. Had we not noticed this initially we would have been very unhappy when looking at a large piece of flooring with boards having all the same patterns.
Shortly after the install we noticed one board was loose and moved exposing the pad underneath. They came back out to fix it and all was good. However, the other day we noticed a different board is now loose and we will call them back to fix it. Customer Service has been very helpful.
Make sure they allow for extra flooring because when the job was done the installers didn't give us any extra saying they had used it all.
Overall the job was fine and we would use Riterug again.
The installation went well and carpet was removed, new tile put down and grout over a 4 day period.
Where the tile met existing carpet they had a man come at the end and connect the tile properly to the carpet.
Our only complaint was the grout, particularly in the laundry room, clouded over in places, but they sent a representative of the grout out to the house, and he gave suggestions to help clean the grout, which seemed to help.
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
