"The kitchen remodeling was completed 1week earlier than the estimate. Very professional crew who did an excellent job and cleaned up thoroughly every day.
" did not nickel and dime us for small extras and did a great job. We are very happy with their work.

"Earlier this year (2015), my wife and I decided to totally remodel our 30+ year-old master bathroom and closet. We selected a contractor – Flooring & Granite" by
's – based solely on Angie's List reviews. That was our first major mistake! In retrospect, the proposal/bid we received from
Klonek – owner of Flooring & Granite by
's – should have raised a red flag and caused us to select a different contractor. Compared to the other three bids we received, Ms. Klonek's bid was very vague and lacked any level of detail. It was simply an email with a laundry list of proposed tasks, with no itemized listing of costs. Very unprofessional. As it turns out, her lack of detail and itemized costs has worked to her advantage! I responded to Ms. Klonek's bid with a very detailed project plan which specified the building materials to be used and work quality standards I expected. She signed our agreement and then, apparently, never looked at it again. Not a single worker who came to our home had a clue what was included in it! On the day she signed our agreement, we paid Ms. Klonek $5,500. Two weeks later, the day the remodel project started, with the complete demolition of our existing bathroom and closet, we paid Ms. Klonek an additional $7,499. Now we were into this project for $12,999 up front – our second major mistake! During the first week of the remodel project, Ms. Klonek's contractors: o Completely demolished our master bathroom and removed the debris. The dust and mess was unbelievable! o Fabricated and installed 1/3 of a full slab of Silestone on our vanity cabinets. The plan was to use the other 2/3 of the slab in the master bathroom shower and a separate guest bath vanity counter top. All four faucet holes in the vanity counter top were too large. The plumber had to use caulk to fill the gaps. o Installed seven
ceiling can lights and two dimmer switches. Since the electrician had not seen the project agreement, he initially drilled five holes in the wrong places. The
lights in the shower were a totally different color than the other lights and had to be replaced. One of the vanity overhead LEDs stopped working after two days. The
light in the commode area started making a crackling sound and emitting smoke when it was turned on. Ms. Klonek's electrician eventually fixed all of these issues. o Except for the two faucets he installed in the vanity sinks, everything Ms. Klonek's plumber did was either defective or failed to meet our quality standards. After he finished roughing in the shower control valve, there was a loud “clunking” sound every time you turned a faucet on or off. He claimed that was due to “old plumbing” and could be fixed by installing “air arrestors” in the system. That was later proven to be a totally false diagnosis. When our new plumber came to clean up the mess, he found that, 1) The clunking sound was caused by air in the water lines. It took him about 15 minutes to fix the problem, 2) The drain line in one of the vanity sinks was leaking, causing water damage to our cabinet floor, 3) In order to improve the drainage and assure the long-term integrity of the shower floor, the drain needed to be moved roughly 12 inches closer to the center of the shower floor. 4) The shower head supply line was not properly secured. Ms. Klonek's plumber had simply bent a nail around the copper pipe to secure it to a 2x4! o On the Saturday following the demolition, Ms. Klonek sent two workers to our home to install the closet and bathroom floor tiles. What a disaster! Neither of these workers had the skills to complete this job, certainly not within the quality guidelines specified in our agreement with Ms. Klonek. Our agreement (which neither worker had ever seen) clearly states that the contractor must “Provide and install floor leveling material as required.” The only English speaking worker assured me that he had checked the floor and no leveling would be required. So I allowed them to continue the installation. Our agreement with Ms.Klonek also specifies that the “Contractor must provide and use Flexbond Fortified Thinset adhesive. They had no idea what that was, but after talking to Ms. Klonek on the phone, they went to Home Depot and bought some. In the early afternoon, I went to check on their progress and was shocked at what I found. As it turns out, our bathroom floor is over two inches off level from the closet doorway to the shower
. These guys were using huge globs of adhesive to level the tiles! I asked them to remove the grossly unlevel tiles, clean up their mess, pack up their tools and leave. Since they were clearly not qualified to do this job with no supervision and were not even aware of our agreement with Ms. Klonek, I gave them each $20 and thanked them for their services. Then I called Ms. Klonek and expressed my extreme dissatisfaction with the quality of work performed thus far. I asked her to let me know what she thought I owed her for the work and materials expended to date. She readily admitted that sending those two (unqualified) workers to our home was a “big mistake” on her part. On Tuesday - April 7, 2015, Ms. Klonek sent me an email which, among other things said: o I am going to do what you asked me to do Saturday to give you a break down of what has been done and purchased on your job to date. We will refund the difference via your credit card payment. o Let me know a day and time after Thursday that I can have a courier take you the rest of your material tile so you can have your handyman finish the job. o Work that has been done Master Bathroom project: Purchased full slab of silestone already installed / Installed 1/2 of tile work on floor in bathroom I immediately responded to Ms. Klonek's email and stressed the following three points: o Only 1/3 of the Silestone slab was fabricated and installed. o In fact, no tiles were installed on the master bathroom floor – they all had to be removed and replaced once the floor was properly leveled. About 45-55 tiles were installed in the closet. o Please do NOT “have a courier take (me) the rest of (my) material tile.” No reputable contractor is going to warrant tiles that they didn't purchase! Around 1:30 PM on Thursday – April 9, 2015, a courier rang our doorbell and said he was delivering some building materials from Flooring & Granite by
's. My wife and I both told him that we would not accept this delivery. The courier said okay and left. At around 7:30 AM the next morning, I discovered that – sometime in the middle of the night – someone had sneaked onto our driveway and dumped all of Ms. Klonek's leftover tiles right in front of our garage door! I called our local police department and they arranged for Ms. Klonek to remove the tiles from our property. I have not heard from Ms. Klonek since her April 7, 2015, email. She has refused to respond to any of my numerous emails and phone messages. She also failed to “do what you asked me to do Saturday to give you a break down of what has been done and purchased on your job to date. We will refund the difference via your credit card payment.” For over four months, Ms. Klonek refused to return any of the $12,999 we had paid her up front. We filed a formal dispute with our credit card company. After months of intense investigation, they finally set a deadline for Ms. Klonek to respond to our dispute. On the very last day, she responded that we owed her $3,500. In my opinion, that amount is inflated by at least $1,500. However, since I didn't insist that Ms. Klonek itemize all her charges, there's not much I can do about it! At this point, my wife and I just want to put this nightmare behind us! Obviously, Ms. Klonek needs the money much more than we do. The good news is we found an incredible contractor who stepped in right away and finished the project in a reasonable amount of time. All of our design and quality goals were met and we are delighted with our new master bathroom.

This part of Don's answer follows my thoughts exactly:

"You want to deal with a professional person that is selling you a bath that was not working as a cashier a few months ago."

Do you go to the gracery store and ask for someone to cook your steak?  Of course not.  So why would you go to a building supply store and ask for someone to remodel your bathroom?  Rarely will you see a legitimate contractor take jobs from a retailer.  Why?  Because they don't pay much.  Speed is the most important thing to them, along with getting it done cheap so they can maximize profit.  About 10 years ago I worked on a few contracted structures (sheds, garages, etc.) from Home Depot.  They contracted to another company who then contracted people to build them.  At that time they paid a flat $250 for a contractor to pick up the supplies, build the structure on site, paint it, and use their own tools.  By the time the cost of a helper, fuel, tools, etc. was factored in there was nothing left for the contractor.  Anyway, the point I'm making is that the guy who will eventually show up to do the work will be so far down the line that everyone else has already taken the profits (Home Depot, ReBath, possibly someone else, and finally the guy working) that he probably isn't going to care what kind of job he does for you, quality or not.  He likely won't have much experience due to a high turnover rate and any experience he does have will probably be limited to his teachings at that job.  He probably can't answer any building code questions or identify other hazards once things are taken apart and he certainly won't do anything he doesn't have to while it is apart.

Another problem I've heard of repeatedly is that if (when) there is a problem there is always someone else you need to speak to.  You might have to talk to 4 or 5 different people before you can even get to someone that can address the problem.  Now multiply that due to having (at least) two separate companies involoved.  "You need to call ReBath."  "No, you need to call Home Depot."

You hire a general contractor for a reason.  We learn, understand, and keep up on building codes.  We are the one point of contact for all questions and issues on a project.  There is no manager in some other store, state, etc. to call.  You contract a GC and deal directly with that GC, or a site supervisor in some cases.  There isn't a huge chain of command to get through to reach the main decision maker for the business.  In a bathroom remodel you need someone who can do the plumbing, repair and/or move any electrical, install tile/flooring, drywall and paint, trim carpentry, and someone to coordinate all of that.  Sometimes you can find a qualified contractor to do all of those things and sometimes he will sub-contract out certain components (especially due to licensing laws) but you will always have that one definitive person to go to for any questions or issues.  A salesman in a store doesn't visit your home throughout the project to check on the status.  Even if he did, he likely wouldn't now what he is looking at.  The same goes for a retail manager.

Hire someone who specializes in taking care of your home.  Hire based on reputation & knowledge/experience.  You are right that not every customer can be happy so an occassional bad review can be found on just about any business.  Read the reviews, not the grades (they are always biased).  Look to see if the contractor attempted to rectify the problem, not ignore it.  Lastly, unless you want cheap, sloppy work and a whole heap of other troubles, don't hire based on a low price.

?
Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.
?
What I always ask my customers regarding this question when remodeling bathrooms is how good they will be about maintaining and cleaning the new bathroom, especially when the old bathroom is obviously neglected.  If you are one of those people who wipes the glass down after a shower and cleans your bathroom every week or two you really don't need to spend the extra money.  If you are at the other end of the spectrum and clean it when it finally bothers you enough it may not be a bad investment.  I've had customer tell me they can tell a difference compared to their old glass without it and others say it made no difference at all.

Your basic rights and protections under law are probably outlined by your state and city's laws. In most states, the easiest way to look up your basic rights and privelges as a consumer would be to visit your state's attorney general website - you can usually find lots of great tips to protect yourself as a consumer there, too. Here's the National Association of Attorneys General's national listing, which includes a link to each state's attorney general website: http://www.naag.org/current-attorneys-general.php

Beyond those basic rights under the law, your expectations of a contractor during, on and after the completion of a job should be explicitly outlined in the estimate and contract. Although it can be a pain in the butt, ALWAYS read the estimate and/or contract before sign it! I cannot stress this enough - frequently the cause of someone's negative experiences with a contractor can be traced back to too few details in the contract.

We've covered contracts, and what you should expect to see in them, here: http://www.angieslist.com/contractor/signing-a-contract.htm

Good luck!

really screwed up my weekend! I called him during the week to schedule an appointment to get an estimate to have a carport, shed, and kitchen remodel done. We set an appt for Friday afternoon and I drove back to town from
Spokane Valley Bathroom And Kitchen Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
(where I am working) to be home to meet with him. He never showed up. I called him twice, leaving a message each time, to him to see if he was still coming. He finally called back 45 minutes later and said that he had a headache and that's why he didn't come. We rescheduled the appt for Sunday at noon and I waited until 2 pm before I finally had to leave. Even if he had shown up, late for our scheduled second appointment, I would have told him "no thank you". I need someone whom I can rely on.
Spokane Valley Bathroom And Kitchen Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
is obviously not that person.

Started work on the hall bath first, leaving us the Master bath for use. The work took about 3 days except for minor touch ups. Tore out floor tile, replace floor boards, laid new floor tile, repaired hole in wall after removing old medicine cabinet, installed new one over sink, new vanity, with larger sink, new toilet and beautiful new floor tile. Painted and looks wonderful. Next was the Master bath. Except for jetted tub, was a complete gut job to included half a wall in the shower. The workmen were respectful on my home laying drop cloths everywhere, were on time each time day and were a pleasure to have in my home.
The finished results are better than I could envision. Other waiting for custom glass shower wall and door to be made and installed, I have an absolutely beautiful bath. I would highly recommend them for any job.

did not show up for the appointment or call to cancel. I left a message for him 30 minutes after he was supposed to be there. Did not hear anything until the next day. He called and apologized for missing the appointment and wanted to reschedule. I told him no that I already had taken a half day off work and did not want to do business with someone that could not be bothered to call and cancel. He said he had an emergency at the job site and it took all day and he could not call. I told him I did not find that acceptable and when I mentioned that I would give him a negative review for not calling to cancel he said that he almost had a guy cut his finger off at the job site and to be sure to put that in my review and then hung up on me.

Working with
Spokane Valley Bathroom And Kitchen Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
, Angel and Petar was a wonderful experience. They took our old and unworkable kitchen
and made it a beautiful and functional space.
To begin with, they gave us a choice of two custom floor plans. The one we chose
called for walling up one of the three doorways into the kitchen and reducing...More /> the size of a huge picture window that allowed for greater cabinet and counter
space. Their one-stop shopping showroom made the process of choosing cabinets,
floors, backsplash, granite and all the miscellaneous hardware

and fun.
They then carefully demo’d the old kitchen and just as carefully constructed a
dream space.

Petar is a perfectionist and kept in constant communication throughout the process. He is
meticulous in his work which included cleaning the area every night before leaving.

It’s a joy to cook in our new kitchen.

The job went great from start to finish!. We met with them and were provided a quote immediately. They arrive promptly each day and barely stop for a break. The new bathroom feels like a spa. Tile works includes shower tile niche and floor. The new ceiling and walls are all spackled and smooth.

called refinishing contractors for prices and arranged appointments for quotes. All members of the team have an eye for detail and maintain a high quality of work. They go above and beyond in all that they do. We felt comfortable giving them a key to our house and leaving them unsupervised. Our 60 year old cape cod now looks modern. We will definitely hire them again and recommend them without hesitation.

Ofir strengths are design, project management, budgeting, communication and follow-through. The whole process was well managed and the end product is high quality. We were consistently impressed with his knowledge and time management. It was one of those situations where we were able to relax (as best you can without a kitchen) because we knew Ofir was on top of it. We never once wondered where he was with anything as he kept us ever informed. His crew were very professional and respectful of our home, doing all they could to minimize the mess and dust during construction.
He was not the cheapest bid out of the three contractors we met with, but we felt he was the most honest and up front about the cost. We ultimately went with him because for the work we knew we wanted he landed in the price range we expected and to his credit, the only places where we went out of budget was because of upgrades we decided we wanted.
We were so impressed that he's come back to do a major upgrade our bathroom (June 2013), once again moving doors and plumbing. He's also come back to help Us with upgrading our bannister and house painting (which we are really impressed with).
He's the guy you go to for a quality job with minimal headaches.

My experience with Good Fellas has overall been excellent. The part I am most pleased with is the level of communication and attention provided by

. Through our whole experience they answered our calls, answered all questions, advised, and supported us. In addition to their incredible communication, they finished the project on time-6 weeks and 3 days. Good Fellas may not be the cheapest quote out there but it's worth paying the extra if you are a first time renovator/home owner as we are. You definitely get what you pay for. My bathrooms are my most favorite part of the renovation and I highly recommend

Spokane Valley Bathroom And Kitchen Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
is currently working on this issue for us and I'm sure we will get it worked out but I would advise future clients to ask Good Fellas not to use the guys they sent to our house. Although the wood flooring in kitchen was disappointing I feel safe with this company and I know they will resolve the problem. It must be noted that Good Fellas finished the project about 5 weeks ago and what has truly motivated me to write this review is that both
