"Older repair experience(s), but as a new member, the memories of my experiences with them left a bad enough taste in my mouth at the time to write this review. " First, my experiences were only at the shop and do not reflect those of any on-site repair personnel. The folks there are personable but didn't really listen to what I was telling them--nor did they attempt to transfer my concerns to the person or persons actually performing the repair. I also brought the machine back twice for the same problem and I very much felt like what I was telling them went in one ear and out the other (both times). To make a very long story short, colloquially, the store addressed the symptom, not the disease, even when I attempted to take great pains to explain that to them--both times. Something had happened to the vacuum causing even minor hair accumulation to cause the brush bar to make a grinding noise and start roaring like crazy. There would also be a pitch difference in the motor sound as a pre-cursor to the rocket-level roar the machine would start to make. I had replaced the bar itself and gone through numerous belts already; and if there wasn't a speck of hair on it and if it had a new belt, it would run fine. But any additional resistance collected on the brush bar caused the vacuum to malfunction. In my multi-pet household, this could be five or six passes of the vacuum before the machine was ready for orbit. At home, I'd make five or six or ten passes with the machine and then I'd have to stop, disassemble it, clean off every piece of hair, reassemble it and start the process over again. And we're not talking about a lot of hair at this point, only minor hair accumulation. When this first started happening, this machine was still under warranty (by weeks, not months) and
was the authorized repair facility for
(trip #1). They replaced the bar (again--I had done it once already troubleshooting with
) and the belt (again, not an old belt at that point) and told me it was repaired. As I had already done both, I knew it wasn't truly "fixed" as neither part would fix the actual problem--something I suspect was in the motor that drives the bar as I could literally hear a pitch change before it would completely malfunction. A few weeks later, once the warranty on the machine expired and I was yet again ready to tear my own hair out every time I vacuumed, I thought I would try to get it repaired again. And as
had had it last and they were an authorized
repair facility, and they didn't really fix it the first time, I took the machine back again hoping that they would then realize that what they had done really had done nothing to fix the real problem (trip #2). Again, I took my time trying to explain to the person at the counter what all had been done, what did and didn't fix it, the pitch sound difference on the machine, the fact that yes, it runs fine with zero resistance, etc. and once again, I could tell that he wasn't really paying attention, more like he was humoring me by letting me talk. And sure enough, when I brought it home "fixed," it took only a few passes for the machine to malfunction (I can't recall what they charged me that time, if anything). You wouldn't believe it but I gave them one more shot--this time with the hose and brush-bar attachments for my whole-house vacuum, which had come with my new-to-me house but which I had never used because A) I had a
; and B) because the hose and brush-bar attachments didn't work. So now since I had given up on my
, I needed the whole-house vacuum to work so I took the pieces in to their shop per their recommendation. They replaced the bar and belt and some sort of coupling, charged me $50 and sent me home. When I got home and *they* didn't work properly, I promptly bought two new vacuums online and vowed never to use
again. They did not truly repair any of my vacuums or vacuum parts. The store personnel were friendly enough, but clearly felt like they knew better than I did what was wrong with my machine and didn't actively listen to what I was telling them. I genuinely believe anyone can have a bad experience and that doesn't necessarily make the service provider a bad one--hence the reason I gave them more than one opportunity, but I will not ever use them again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

"It went very well- when I called the store and spoke to
- I immediately felt comfortable and reassured- as this is the first central" that I purchased and it can be confusing. When we arrived at the store-
the owner helped us with the purchase- he knows a lot and really educated us on the different options- then as promised
came and installed the vacuum and was wonderful in explaining all the information- all made very easy- I have already referred them to one of my neighbors--

Vacuum Cleaner reviews in Shelton

Service was excellent.

was precise and worked in a timely manner. I had not seen my closet so neat since I moved in! She organized my closet so well that I'd hire her back just to keep it maintained. She was very courteous and I will be recommending her to ALL my friends.

They were prompt, professional and very skilled. They were honest and explained what I needed done. They went above and beyond by coming to my car to get the vacuum and after the service was done he carried it back to my car. Very nice people work for this company. I am very pleased and will be using them again.

My husband bought a remanufactured Hoover wind-tunnel vacuum at
Shelton Vacuum Cleaners Provider Name Locked
for $211.99, including tax, then returned it the next day, unused. The owner had told him it was new from the factory, so my husband had thought it meant new, which remanufactured obviously doesn't mean. It had lots of large scuff
Shelton Vacuum Cleaners Provider Name Locked
on it and had a very strange and unpleasant odor. So I had my husband return it the next day. The owner told him they have a no refunds policy, but he could buy something else instead to get his money back. So he sold my husband a Eureka Mighty Mite 3670G vacuum for $175 and a Royal ER1000 vacuum for $80. After he got home, I looked up the price of the Eureka Might Mite and found it sells at Home Depot for $60.99 and other stores for in the $60's, and has a "retail list price of $120". Thus my husband had to pay an extra $58.30 to get his original $212 back, including paying $114 extra for the Eureka vacuum, almost 3 times the price that it was sold for elsewhere in the city.
I called the store 2 days later after seeing
Shelton Vacuum Cleaners Provider Name Locked
's website, which stated "We will beat any competitor's price." I did not identify myself and stated I'd seen that they match competitor's prices on their website. I was told yes, what vacuum was I interested in. I said the Eureka Mighty Mite. He said yes they had it there and asked what price I had on it. I told him $60.99 from Home Depot. He said he couldn't match any of the big box stores, that he could sell it to me for $150. I told him the list price on it was $120 and that there were lots of stores selling it in town in the $60's, and asked why he was selling it for way more than list price. He said he didn't know what the list price was cause he bought it from someone in, I think he said Pennsylvania. He then gave me all the reasons he couldn't sell it for the "big box stores" prices. (I totally understand that small businesses can't sell products as cheaply as big box stores and the $120 "retail price" would have been a fair price I'd have expected to see the

listed at at

, but I don't expect a store to sell for more than the normal retail price.) I retold him that his website said he'd match competitors prices, and he said he'd have his son change that to other vacuum store competitors. After everything he finally told me he'd sell it to me for $120 but no less. I then told him he'd sold it to my husband for $175 earlier in the week, and asked if my husband came back in would he change the price to $120. He said I'd "tricked" him, and he didn't like it that I'd "tricked" him. He said after a bit that he'd give him $50 back but that was all. He wouldn't budge beyond that. So my husband went back in and was given a credit card credit for $50, but no refund of the taxes he'd paid on that extra $50. So the net result was that my husband paid $125 plus taxes on $175 (an extra $3) for a vacuum with a list price of $120 which sells at Home Depot for $60.99.
I have no idea how

But as for purchases from

With respect to the scissors, he simply sharpened two pairs of old scissors. These days you can buy a new pair for about the same price as getting an old pair sharpened. In my case, I had two pair of old scissors that I wanted to keep and use. He sharpened, cleaned, and oiled them like new for $9/pair.
In past he has overhauled our Singer sewing machine and fixed our Hoover vacuum cleaner. In each case, his price was reasonable and the repairs reliable.

The two teenage girls who came to the door were sweet. They clearly had been taught a very slick
Shelton Vacuum Cleaners Provider Name Locked
. I talked to them for quite a while but they couldn't answer any specific questions about the product. Later, they came back. They had been abandoned by the "manager" who had brought them to town and promised them $500/week. They had had no food or drink all day. It was dark and the manager would not come to pick them up. A car full of well dressed people finally came to get them and I walked up to chat with them. When I asked what the problem could have been that would keep them from picking up young employees dropped in a strange neighborhood, the man cursed at me and blew cigarette smoke in my face. This is worse than a bad company; it is a dangerous scam operation.

I picked this provider based on the close proximity to my home and Angie's list ratings. I went on a Friday afternoon and was told I would receive a call on Saturday either telling me my appliance had been fixed or a part would need to be ordered. I received a call the next morning saying my vacuum was ready. On Friday I had set aside an attachment to clean my dryer vent and under difficult places like the refrigerator. When I arrived to pick up my vacuum it had been fixed and cleaned all at No Charge. I paid for the attachment and was very pleased to have my vacuum back so quickly. The owners/employees are very friendly. I will definitely go back.

This is a small repair shop on Main Street in Elmsford (right next to

's Saloon, a great

/steak joint with an inviting bar that I highly recommend you visit after dropping off your vacuum!). Upon entering the store I was surprised to find a neat, clean and professional environment displaying new vacuums and consumables (vacuum bags, filters, etc.). I was greeted by the owner who was friendly, neat and actually wearing a work apron. He asked what the problem was and explained possible causes that he has seen in his experience with this particular vacuum. He offered two approaches and I opted for the comprehensive package that would fix the problem in addition to changing all filters and cleaning the entire unit. I asked if it were possible to do it in one day since we were having a party on the weekend and he said he would try his best. Incredibly, he called me by noon the next day! Not only was it repaired, he also cleaned all the scuff

that were on the exterior of the unit...it looked brand-new! It was a pleasure experiencing "old-world" service from a human being who actually had functional knowledge of the repairs he was performing ON-SITE. When high-end vacuums cost upwards of $1,000.00, it is comforting to know that we had found an honest individual whom we can go to without hesitation should the unit ever fail again.
