Business Description: Finely focused shop for furniture of all eras or new custom design. Expertise in the original materials that were used. For example; horsehair & cotton for the art deco period, 8 way hand spring tying for '40s sofas and beyond, latex foam & clean beautiful lines for mid century period (we love this era of design). We do all Marine interior/outdoor cushion work from small boats up to large yacht sizes. Commercial upholstery work is available to specification. Our fabric showroom can meet the simplest of needs and/or rival any designer selection in town. A large selection of mid-century focused fabrics, among many other beautiful & long lasting textiles. Our policy is to be responsible to our customer, we do not do "ball parks" over the phone in order to "bait in" work. We do everything we can to write a "quote" that, (barring any indecision of design or fabric choice), is complete, accurate, and gives you a final price. Our estimates/ quotes are free. Our design work service is also complimentary to a point, after about an hour (or so) of design work, we'll let you know before that landscape changes to paid design time. We offer free pick up and delivery within reason and a reasonable distance. If there is a part of the work we can't do, we will discuss using our selection of reputable subcontractors. For example; furniture woodwork or color restoration that can't already be done in-house. Also have a cabinetmaker/ woodworker for new design builds. Custom furniture frames and custom built ins for homes or businesses. Boat canvassing we also have trusted contractors to work with. If we don't have someone we work with directly, we at least hope to point you in the right direction. We like good food, music, great design, fabrics, history, politics, coming to work, and helping customers. People should know what they are sitting on, how it was made, and why it should be done right. Especially since one spends a similar amount of time on their couch/ office chair/ reading chair, etc.., as they do in a car or a bed. Ask us questions and you'll get answers, (stop us if we go on too long). We can also let you know when NOT to redo a piece, change the patina, etc... Furniture and upholstery are interesting to us and on average, people should know more about what's hiding under that outer layer of fabric that one sees. Upholstery is an art/ craft/ trade that is widely misunderstood and is in danger of extinction unless more people spend a bit of time learning about it, and/ or using reputable upholsterers. Excluded Services: auto and motorcycle upholstery work. We have the expertise and experience (love motorcycle seat work) but it is not currently a focus of our shop. Occasionally we will take on the work. Boat canvassing is another thing we don't do as much of. We will subcontract if we can't already do it ourselves.
