Redmond Lawn Services Reviews
Compared to what I paid previously for the same work, I think they are a bit pricy, but wanted to get the work done before the plants took over completely, and ultimately I am satisfied with the work.
The team took a lot of care not to drive the excavator on the asphalt to avoid damaging the road.
started by removing the trees. Yanking fairly large alders out of the ground was entertaining to watch. One larger one was right at the capacity of the machine but he took his time and worked it down.
The trees took the majority of the time on the project because
After the trees were removed he graded the land and then used the head of the excavator to form a very smooth gradient. I am impressed by how smooth and well contoured the yard is now.
reviewing the current state of my lawn (front and back). They offered solutions and gave me a quote.
They did everything that they said that they would do, and even called to ensure I was satisfied before the final billing.
I was very satisfied with their professionalism and the work that was done. They continue to do on-going maintenance for me.
FYI -- l don't recall the actual dates... date above is approximate.
While this was happening others in the crew were marking off the new garden area and removing the old grass. Topsoil was installed and the garden was made ready for the new plants. Within a couple of days all of the plant material appeared and with the help of the project manager the plants were placed in their respective locations and the planting process began. While some of the guys did the planting another was busy installing additional landscape stones around the new garden area .. which was another agreed upon change order. The final step was to "plant" the new lawn seed .. which was done. The whole process took about 3 or 4 days.
The crew was excellent in answering all of our questions. They also adjusted and reworked some of the existing sprinklers to provide adequate water coverage for our new yard. They also pruned our Katsura tree to better reflect it's appearance AND provide some additional sunlight to the garden area.
Our concern here is that after following the watering directions (twice a day rain or shine) from the project manager a majority of the seeded bare spots in both the front and back yards didn't "grow". We believe that this was due to the fact that the weather was hot and our yard gets lots of sun .. and in particular a lot of hot afternoon sun. The suggestion of continuing to water didn't work ( and I now have a $1200.00 water bill to pay) so I asked others in the landscaping business what we should have done. The answer was
Having said all of this, I would .. and most likely will ... invite them to come back and help out with existing garden areas so we can have some "
with in terms of their responsiveness, professional quality, price,
follow-up and dedication to the end result. They are a great addition to Angie's List.
I have historically maintained my own lawn doing the thatching, aeration, and seeding . I recently had back surgery and am learning to delegate tasks
to others. I could not have made a better choice in selecting Golden
day. We went through the variety of options and prices. One of the
advantages of GRLR is that they have a "cafeteria menu" of pricing of
their services. If one wanted to have them do the thatching and
aeration but then rake and dispose of the yard material they can
accommodate you. In my case, I wanted to have them do the entire full
range of services. I then asked that they put some additional soil in the back yard so that a new lawn could be created.
They showed up exactly when they said they
were going to do so. It is not a one person operation so that they can put on a crew appropriate to the job at hand.
They have new equipment and it is obvious that the
entire team takes pride in their work. They have also a "slit seed"
spreader which places the seen in a slit about 1/2' within the ground. This
provided a higher germination rate that my own use of the surface
spreader since it is more moist and the birds are not attracted to it. I did this in August (with this summer, not the best
choice). The vast majority of seed worked great.
As mentioned, I elected to have some soil placed in the back. They used an excellent source of compost as opposed to the standard soil.
The seeding, (surface), did not completely take due to my overwatering and some erosion of the seed bed. GRLR was proactive and came back twice to ensure that the quality of the job was as they had said it was going to be. It has turned out to be a beautiful lawn and I am delighted with the end product.
In looking at the final price I found that my cost of renting all of the equipment used would be not too different from the price paid to GRLR. I found the price to be an exceedingly great value. And to be truthful, the quality of the end result exceeded by far what I could have accomplished.
