This gorgeous kitchen proves you don’t have to spend big bucks to make a big impact.
What’s better than a good book? A great bookcase that holds many of them
What bathroom couldn’t benefit from more cabinets to store cosmetics, medicine, toiletries and linens?
Not really. If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed. A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place. Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now. The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place. Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this. If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall. Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops. If you do, dig in and research him well. He likely doesn't have enough experience.

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.
When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

Even to just put together the proposal,
When work finally began in our home, he was timely and professional (he was also fantastic and dealing with our somewhat difficult 12 lbs rat terrier dog). He spent ~1 week with him and a partner installing the cabinetry. He worked hard, often until ~7 pm, and was happy to discuss the details and any issues that came up throughout the day and looked for our input when appropriate.
While he did not explicitly coordinate other contractors to do the electrical and painting work, he had great suggestions and provided introductions, and the other contractors clearly had a lot of respect for the work
By the end of the project, his attention to detail and thoughtfulness came through. The closets and drawers look and function great, with trimming that matches our existing door trims, great hardware that he helped us select, and seamless integration into our existing space.
The project came in a little over his estimate, but we had agree to a fixed cost structure, so we didn't need to pay anything extra. But, he clearly wasn't trying to rush the work at the end to stay within his estimate, and based on the great work he performed, we decided to give him a generous tip to help cover some of the cost overrun.
I would have no hesitation to recommend
At the appointed time, two consultants showed-up. I explained the problem that my new house lacked the type of closet that my prior residence lacked in which I stored these items. I gave them free rein to look throughout the house to devise a plan in the area they deemed feasible. They settled on a corner in a windowless room that we're using for storage. The plan was to build a floor-to-ceiling drawer & shelf unit. That seemed feasible to me & being frustrated that I had these items still sitting in their packing boxes, I decided to proceed with the plan.
Later that evening I showed it to my wife. She wasn't as enthusiastic as I was & reminded me that we didn't do anything, including move here, without examining multiple offers/plans. So, the next day I called on of the designers that I leaped too soon & I wanted to put the brakes on this for a bit to seek other bids. She was very understanding & agreed. So I went back to Angie's List & found two other highly-rated providers.
The other two offered basically the same type of plan - converting a highly under-utilized bedroom closet such that it could still hold the hanging clothes in there now + all the things from the old closet. With three plans in-hand we reviewed the plusses and minuses of each proposal. In the end, we decided that one of the other plans was the best for us. This allows us to keep that space in the spare room for other things. And I'd be less than forthright if I did not say that the prices factored into the equation.
This was the costliest of the three proposals. It was also the the highest quality, utilizing real wood to construct the drawer unit, after re-measurement by their carpenter. Both the others rely on just the measurements of their designers. But we determined that the latter is sufficient for a storage unit that no guests would ever see inside a spare room. Both of the other companies use a 3/4" veneer in their construction, which ought to be strong enough to support the items to be stored & we felt confident that the designers measurements would be adequate.
Shelf Genie was very understanding with my request to explore other options & ultimately select a different company. I have no doubt that their plan would have solved the storage problem, but keeping that extra space free at a
