Carpet Installation reviews in Kirkland

This was one of the worst experiences I have had with a company both in workmanship and willingness to correct mistakes. The main problem was with the tile which they installed in the bathroom. The tile was to run up to the
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
of the bathtub. They cut all the tile in various sizes which left 1/4 to 1/2 inch gaps between the tile and the tub. They tried to cover this up by putting a cheap white plastic strip to cover the uneven tiles. The tile is dark brown. This was not acceptable and within only a few days, the plastic strip cracked. In addition, I was told that they had the grout and could blend it to match the tile They did not. I had to leave them in my house and go to Home Depot to get grout where I was asked questions such as do I want sanded or unsanded. I had not been given any instructions. I finally worked it out and left with the correct grout. It took forever to get them to return to do the work. About 2 months after the tile was recut and reinstalled, a corner of one of the tiles cracked. They had not put any mortar under this small section. There were other issues. My fireplace tile was cracked during the removal of the den carpeting. They said they would return and glue it. That never happened. When they took up the old carpeting, it needed to be vacuumed before putting in the new. Their vacuum didn't work. So I had to use mine. The carpeting upstairs was to be stretched. I was told that it needed to be stretched from wall to wall. A large wall unit had to be unloaded so that it could be moved. Even though I had a crushed acetabulum and new hip implant, I managed to unload the unit. When I came upstairs, they were cutting the carpeting in a doorway. They decided to stretch it from that point instead of moving the unit without consulting with me. That was not our agreement and I had unloaded the unit for no reason. Within a short period of time the ripples in the carpeting reappeared. The paint on my walls in the den and bath was scratched from removing furniture and working in the bath. I was told that they would return and repair. They did return without any equipment. I supplied the paint brush and paint. However, there was one paint that I did not have.
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
got the number from me so that he could get the paint, but he never did. After a numerous calls, just got the paint and had a handy man paint. They started patching the dining room carpet without notifying me. I was upstairs dealing with the uneven tile. They selected a piece of carpeting which did not match and the installing job was terrible. I helped them pick out a more suitable piece. However, the installation was less than professional. They also threw away a sampling of the old carpeting they removed which I had instructed them to set aside. They carried it away, but I finally got it back after many phone calls. Trying to get anything corrected with this company was a time consuming process. When I purchased the carpeting from
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
, I was told that they contracted with
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's Flooring for labor etc. When I asked who I would need to work with if there was a problem, I was told that
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
would take care of all issues. However, when I called
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
with issues, I was told to call
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
with
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's Flooring. When I did not get results with
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's I would call
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
who either gave me the run around or used attaching, intimidating techniques. I did finally get the tile replaced and a little touch up painting done. Nothing else has been corrected. After numerous calls, attempts to leave messages, waiting for return phone calls, waiting at home for them to come, I gave up. I had health issues to deal with. In
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
2014 when my health had improved, I got quotes on what it would cost to repair the broken corner on the bathroom tile. It was more than I expected. I decided to call
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
's flooring just to see if they would repair it in spite of the time lapse. I did explain that I had tried to leave messages about this issue and many others right after they occurred. To my surprise
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
agreed to come out and he did come by after a couple of attempts. He told me that they would repair it. Because of past history, I asked
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
directly if I could trust him to keep his word and that they would follow up and repair it for no charge. He answered yes and that he would call me to schedule a time. Days past without a call, so I finally started to call him. Once again I found that I could not leave a message due to a full voice mail. I finally got through to him and he said that he had talked to his workers and that they wanted $100. I told him that I thought that was unfair because of all the things they had not repaired, that I had tried to report this right after it happened. However, just to get it done, I offered to pay $50. He said he would get back to me, I have never heard from him again and have not been able to reach him or leave a message. I called
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
general manager,
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
Vizzare. It must be company training, because again attaching, intimidating language was used. Once again I was given the lecture of how many yards of carpeting they install, that my job was just a small one, etc. Mr Vizzare said he would call me back after he talked to his employees. I have never heard from him. I think this company has figured out that if they intimidate and put people off, then most people will just give up like I eventually did. Now that I am feeling a little better, however, I think people should be made aware of the experience I had with
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
, the quality of their work, their integrity and how they solve problems. I still want my cracked tile repaired.

Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was really responsive as soon as I requested a bid. When we had our consultation he was extremely friendly, professional and definitely an expert in flooring. He has a good eye when it comes to style and really appreciated his opinion. He was extremely patient with me as I couldn't decide on what carpet to choose and came back several times with more samples all with a smile! When his crew came to install they were really professional, nice and informative. I would definitely recommend this company! He also definitely worked within my budget and mad the project happen within my means!

Communication around the type of carpet, nature of the work, and cost were all very clear. The crew was fast, competent, and helpful with moving large furniture out of the way. All in all, very cooperative. I rated professionalism "B" only because one piece of aluminum trim was hammered in poorly, denting it. They will be coming back to do the last several rooms and I am confident they'll cheerfully replace that piece. So all in all, I don't think you can do better in terms of price, quality of carpet, and skill of installation.

In the end, I took the specs for the materials we selected and went to other vendors to compare. Apples to apples, Empire was nearly 50% MORE than their competitors with the same products, NOT 50% less as indicated by their sale. With two other vendors, when we chose better quality carpet and luxury vinyl tile over the laminate plank that Empire was showing us, we were still more than 40% less than Empire's "sale" price including tax and install. ($4500 all-in vs. $8500 with Empire This is after we haggled with the Empire estimator for every possible discount (multiple product, weekday install, etc.)
All this says to me is that you should be very very skeptical of Empire's pricing.
Had I signed on the dotted line then and there, I would also be subject to whatever install team they sent out where with other vendors, I was working directly with the person who would be installing it. These vendors knew far more about the intricacies of the install and knew what to look for with my particular floor to recommend the best possible product to fit our needs and produce a successful install.

Having recently completed a major 5-month long remodel, I can attest that working with
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was the least stressful part of the job. They made selecting carpet and scheduling install so easy! I learned so much about how carpet is made and wears over time that it really helped me to select the right product for our family and lifestyle. The carpet was expertly installed and on time. It is so soft - I make guests take off their shoes and walk up the stairs just to experience it when they come over. Everyone agrees it is the softest carpet they have ever felt. I would go back to
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
in a heartbeat and I can now understand why my parents (who were rental property owners for decades) were also loyal customers.

We worked with the manager
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
and had an excellent experience.
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
spent ample time getting to know our needs and equally patient in guiding us towards our final choice.
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was also flexible in scheduling the order of the carpet and satisfying our request to postpone the installation a few weeks after the order was received in their warehouse.
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
provided two installers who were highly skilled, energetic, and demonstrated a high degree of quality in their work.

Terrible. Job was to start first week in Sept. Crew did not show so they pulled off 2 workers to prep floor. The baseboards were not removed nor the wooden heat vent covers resulting in sealed vents and build up of Swedish finish on baseboards. There was some pooling of finish especially near the door jams. The
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
was also wrong, semi instead of
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
. The damaged board were also not replaced. Second redo, same as first, still no removal of baseboards and the finish did not cure, maybe did not wait long enough between coats has been suggested. The pooling was still evident. The third time, they finally removed baseboards and used correct
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
,but did not unstick the heat vents and redo them. This third finish appeared as if they had only put one coat on, even though there had according to them put three on. Since this was an insurance claim, the insurance company sent out an independent neutral third party to a**** the job. Summarizing, the baseboards and vents should have been removed before applying the Swedish Finish, did not wait long enough between the coats which probably caused the issues on the second try. The company does not seem to have good communication between the crew and the company. There was little face to face contact with me the client. In the end the company did not want to correct all of the items that the independent person suggested, so thank goodness I have a good insurance company that is watching out for my interests. The insurance company is going to try to get their expense from the company.
The job should have taken only 3-4 days, but here it is January 2014 and I am back to square one, trying to find a competent floor company. I have been living out of packed boxes since my partial move back before I noticed all the flaws. My insurance company will pay for the redo, but what would have happened if it had not been an insurance claim?

The product quality was good, but the service was overall very bad. The company representative did not show up to an initial appointment at all (forgot about it), showed up 20min late to a second appointment (had address written down wrong) and the actual installer showed up 1.5 hours late (material not ready). I would have switched to another company after the second appointment, but really had to wrap it up.
The installation itself was good, but that was performed by a sub contractor. Very disappointing experience, as I chose this company based on the great other reviews here.

Overall the quality of work was good, with one exception. Empire did our whole house in 2 days. The only problem we had was the tile that was put down in front of the fireplace. The person they used to not seem to know what he was doing. When he finished, we had a metal border sticking up a quarter of an inch. He had used the wrong
Kirkland Carpet Installers Provider Name Locked
piece and had tried to fill it in with mortar. I called the manager and complained. They came out the very next day and Took the new floor out and read it. But unfortunately they used the same person they had before. They have been out twice to fix the problem with the tile. What they need to do is start over and use the proper metal border to begin with and then there won't be a problem. They were out 2 weeks ago to look at the floor tile again, we have not heard back from them, we seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle.

I will give them an A on quality because I don't remember any issues. We had some scheduling issues because they didn't get back to me. I needed to delay the project because I couldn't make it up to my mother's house and the technician didn't get my message so he ended up waiting for me when I wasn't going to be there. I am not sure if I would use them again; I would consider it.
