If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

So consider Angie's List and find the best of the best in HVAC contractors!

I have never seen one of this type that does not exit the house. You would not want the grease dumping into your basement, even with a filter it will happen.

The greater part of your job will be carpentry as if there is a wall behind the stove a hole will have to be cut up through the basement into the wall up to the stove. Unless it is one of the stoves that allows for it to fit inside a cabinet below. To answer correctly most here would be a picture of where this project is being done. I have done motorized ones that extend up out of the counter when in use and then retract. Those exit through the cabinet and require the cook top is to the front of the counter and not a drop in one

As an added note these tend to be better as they do not pull the heat away from the stove top when in use as much as the ones flush with the stove. I have install quite a few and happen to have an Amana cook top with built in down draft and I have to shut it of to get water to boil on the back burners.

A carpenter will know what can be cut and what not in the basement, a sheet metal contractor should know as well but at the other end for the finish by the stove they might not. Most carpenters that do kitchens have installed the minimal amount of duct work for this. They just have to be carefull with the number of ellbows and the lenght of the duct.

Appliance Repair reviews in Deer Park

was great. He was available the day after my initial call. He was able to diagnose the problem and make the repairs, which ended being a bad inlet valve, in under an hour total.

I called this morning after being told by Orvilles (formally Netzman's) and Countywide (Netzman's referral) that they could not come out because they were totally booked, so......I went onto Angies list....and found
Deer Park Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
's listing.

was amazing! Dealt well with my Huskies...of course they loved him....gave me a best and worst case scenario....and went to work. Luckily it was a minor issue.... the fridge was up and running and cooling nicely when he left. Gave me time to clean the floor under the fridge and the sides before he pushed it back into place.

I almost didn't call because of the negative reviews here, but I decided to take a
Deer Park Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
since the positive reviews were very positive. I'm glad I did.
I called this morning and the woman that answered the phone was courteous and helpful. She told me a technician would arrive sometime this afternoon and would call prior to arriving. And that's what happened. The technician called to say he was leaving the prior service call and would arrive at our house in 15 - 20 minutes. When he arrived, I explained the situation. We cut the power at the circuit board, he pulled the oven out, examined the baking element, tested it, removed it, replaced it (had the part in his van), pushed the oven back in, and tested to make sure it worked. It did.
He also left his phone number to call about any questions or problems with it.
My experience with this company is that they are professional, courteous, and well-equipped to resolve the problems for which you hire them. I will use them in the future and recommend them to friends.
The price seems a smidge high, but they don't charge a service call fee if they do the repair. I appreciate that. And I know from looking online that the part costs about $50. So $165 plus tax is a little high, but not that bad. For how quickly it was resolved, I'm pleased.
- Justin M.

I made an appointment on line. The response was quick, though it wasn't easy finding a real telephone number on their website. I made an appointment for the very next day! Fast! They called when the repairman was on his way. He showed up at the time (three hour window) he was supposed to. The cost was high, but I haven't had a dishwasher pump replaced before, and I don't think Kitchenaid is a cheap brand. The work was done today, so I haven't had a
Deer Park Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
to see how it performs in the long run. The website appointment is easy to use, but they don't say it'll cost you $99 for a diagnostic that will not cover any parts or repairs.
- Jane S.

Very punctual, knowledgeable and friendly. He didn't mind me watching. Informed me of what he was doing and why at the time.
I felt the price was extremely fair!!!

Service and repair went very smoothly. I purchased a deal for their service through

I called an hour ago, after not hearing back from my regular repair service. They said they would be out within the hour.30 min later he showed up. Finished the job in 20 min.He was very professional, and the price was reasonable.

Asked about Angies list discounts when I called to schedule repair on Thurs PM
Deer Park Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
22. Was told there would be a $65.00 credit on any services performed. I had researched my problem on the internet so I knew what the problem was - chose to have it repaired by an outside repair firm rather than do it myself Scheduled call for next day between 10:00 and 12:00 - service tech showed up at 11:45. He replaced the agitator dogs, cleaned the upper agitator and put everything back together properly - no problem there except he did not give me an estimate of the cost before he performed the work. When he presented the invoice the total was $210 - $65 for parts and $145 for labor (he was here about an hour). No evidence of the $65 credit I was promised when I scheduled the call. He called the main location for clarification. I talked to them and they said I had to purchase the credit to receive it - I was NEVER told that when I scheduled the call. Also I asked about the $65 charge for parts that cost between $2.00-$3.00 on Amazon. Was told that this was the minimum charge for parts - again something that was never explained to me until the invoice was presented.
Deer Park Appliance Repair Experts Provider Name Locked
did agree to give me 15% off of the invoice. Two issues here -I was not given the discount I was promised over the phone when scheduling the service call -I was charged an exorbitant amount for parts due to minimum charge of which I had no knowledge. Had I been given the estimated cost prior to the repair work being done I could have decided if I wanted him to proceed at that price. I consider this deceptive business practices and would warn anyone that is considering using this firm to be careful - Caveat Emptor!
