"I wanted to have my basement windows replaced with glass block windows. Went to Angie's list to find a recommended contractor. Called
and set up an appointment" with a rep to come out for an estimate.
was here on 10/1/14 to assess the situation, provide me with my options and answer all my questions. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He also went above and beyond to honor my request to have the installation done ASAP.
and
were here yesterday for an early start and completed the project in one visit. I couldn't be happier with how I was treated and how beautiful my new windows look. Also, the guarantee of material and workmanship for lifetime from date of installation is much appreciated.

"We rented apartments for sixteen years until we finally purchased our first home: an older condo/co-op. We had the ugliest wall a/c unit in my small living room. I visited numerous" glass block companies, but they just sold the windows and referred me to installers that seemed too expensive. After nearly two years of looking at that awful wall unit, I trusted my instincts (and Angie's List) and hired
& More to put in a window for me. I made the right choice!
, in the office, was a pleasure to deal with. The owner came out personally to measure for the glass block. Finally, the two installers,
and
, were professional, courteous and knowledgable. They arrived on time and worked diligently until the job was done, patiently answering my questions all along the way. It was just one small window, but they made me feel like a valued, important customer. Thank you!!!!

"Everything went great! I called them on a Monday frantic to have the windows done before I hung up drywall on Wednesday. They squeezed me in the next day. The windows look amazing.

From what I can see in a picture of the item, there does not appear to be anything special about the glass. unless it has an Ikea emplem on it or special etching or something, any normal window glass replacement company like Speedy Glass or such should be able to cut and install replacement glass - probably about $100-300 depending on whether a pane or entire door-sized panel of glass, depending on which style you have.
?
Just about every sliding door I have installed is put in in sections. If it is a brand name you may be able to purchase a replacement panel from a lumber yard or call a glass company to replace just the glass. I have seen some windows and doors that have a "welded" plastic frame that is next to impossible to replace just the glass. I hate to give estimated costs on labor or material since they very by manufacturer and regional prices but I would think you are in the $250-350 range in labor plus cost of glass or panel.
?

Could be held on with concealed mirror fasteners (usually a clip or notched "button" design, with very litle showing outside the mirror, or none showing if has trim around it, or with large dabs or swipes of mirror adhesive or liquid nails. The former leaves minimal damage when removed - no more than a heavy duty picture hanger, the latter leaves divots in drywall, as you surmised, and holes in the drywall if a piece of plywood is not used as a prypoint when prying it off.

If you want to try to save the mirrors, then a glass and mirror installer is needed - they can remove them from the hangers, or cut the adhesive with wire saw - though that will add probably 2-3 hours labor per room. Then you would need a painter who also does minor drywall repairs.

If not saving the mirrors, then I suspect you could get a Handyman to pop them off, repair the divots, and repaint. Otherwise, a Painter would probably be glad to do it and repair the damage and repaint - just be prepared for a hefty charge for duct tape - like $100-200, because that is the best way to do this - duct tape the surface completely, pry the mirrors off (commonly breaking them), then cut through the tape to make pieces of glass manageable and of a size to fit in garbage can or box for hauling out. Be sure to emphasize PLYWOOD protection for floors, overlain by canvas or plastic, when removing the mirrors - drop a good sized piece and you have significant flooring damage.

Here is a prior response for a similar situation, including the same suggestions about removal, but also a bunch of ideas of how to leave the mirrors and cover or integrate them - which can be a LOT cheaper than paying a two-man crew for a day to remove mirrors, depending on solution you choose.

 http://answers.angieslist.com/Need-rid-wall-mirrors--q67621.aspx

this is probably a quarter to full days job to remove depending on how fastened and if saving or not, so about $200-800 range. Drywall repair and painting probably about another $150-250 range, so ballpark numbers - pushing $300-400 if mirrors come off easy (bracketed) or can be scrapped, more like a thousand $ if saving mirrors.

Your Search the List category is Glass and Mirrors - the Speedy Glass type company that does home and auto glass replacement.

If the glass is held in with window putty (a doughy tan or white putty) or by a wood trim piece all around it pinching it in place, then you can probably fix it yourself for about $15 piece of glass at a glass replacement place or somehome improvement/lumberyards.

If the glass is multiple-pane, or encased in a metal frame, then not easy to do yourself, though in some situations with single-pane you could remove the glass mounting frame entirely, use larger glass, and install with window putty. Double or triple pane you need then to fabricate a new "glazing unit" for you - the glass layers all enclosed in the metal encasing unit.If you are going to pay for that, might as well have them put it in too.

Everything was great. I live out of state and was buying an investment property. They were able to measure and provide a quote before I came to town. When I was in town for a short period, they were able to adjust their schedule to get this installed. The neighbors dog had access to part of the house where the installer needed to work. They were able to come back a few days later when we could coordinate with the neighbor to keep their dog inside.
They were very easy to work with, flexible, fair pricing and friendly group of people. Will be back. Thanks

I contacted
Bothell Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
via email on Angies List. They responded the next day to establish a date and time for estimate to remove old basement windows and install glass block windows. After assessing the work, Nick
Bothell Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
discussed options available and said they would email an estimate based on my choices. I received the estimate later that day, and I emailed back an acceptance a few days later. We found an appropriate install date. Nick and one other workman arrived promptly. They completed taking out the old windows and installing the glass block in what I felt was a good time frame. Very professional and pleasant to deal with. I definitely would use them again.

and his crew did a great job on the window. They were in and out in one work-day and it looks good. So far the quality seems great. Every time I called the office, they were very helpful. I did have to mop up the basement floor near the window, but I think there was more mess because of cutting into the floor for the extra drain work ($500).
The price was mid-range based off of other phone calls I made prior to choosing Superior. More expensive options were able to come out sooner (Superior's availability was approximately 1 month from scheduling), but the less expensive options didn't seem as professional. When dealing with the basement, I wanted to make sure the job was done right.

A very nice, young, service guy arrived right on time. He worked efficiently and explained everything that he was going to do and answered all my questions. He did a wonderful job and was finished within 4 hours- I think! Just one negative thing - the dryer vent wasn't hooked up before the guy left and he never mentioned that he would not be hooking up the dryer to the vent! The guy left and I called the company to tell them that that hook up had been overlooked by their guy. They said No - they don't put the dryer vent hook up together on their jobs. I was pretty upset because this is not a job I have ever done so I was very disappointed that they left me with this problem. It seems to me, they could have had a happy customer if they would just bring whatever parts are needed to finish the job. These items were very inexpensive but it cost me time and worry about finishing the job so I could do my laundry. So yes, they did a good job but they did not earn high

Ed was prompt in calling me to arrange for an estimate. He put me on the schedule a few weeks out - business is good! Called on the day of the installation to let me know his crew was coming over. The crew of four were in and out in hour and a half. New windows look great - better than the rest of the basement, so time for more upgrades.

The job went great!!
Bothell Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
promptly came to my home and gave me an estimate. I waited several weeks to contact for the job because I was trying to coordinate installation with vinyl siding my home. When I signed the contract, I was told it would be about 3 weeks for installation. I called their very helpful scheduler/secretary,
Bothell Glass Blocks Provider Name Locked
, to ensure that the windows would be installed before the siding job started and she scheduled me a time that met my needs. Originally I was given an installition date that would have been after my siding was installed but when I explained that the
