was amazing. I must admit" I thought Angie's list was a complete waste of time and money. However we found
there and OMG what a guy. Everyday I came home he reviewed his progress. He was unbelievable with regard to qualify as even the smallest imperfection he would redo if one even occurred... many I couldn't see but he could.
was prompt and always prepared. He had to make a couple of schedule changes and he cleared them with us DAYS BEFORE so we would be aware. I have dealt with several local lexington contractors and frankly most of them completely suck! They rarely call you back, have little business sense, look and behave like hobo's, and are generally not the kind of folks I would take fishing so to speak. But
....he is getting a standing invitation to our yearly Christmas Party no joke. If you need a reference for him, send
a note and I will certainly reference this guy. He ( and his work) is an "A+++" as far as I am concerned! Will

Remodeling tip: Should painting or flooring come first?

Angie Hicks responds to a member who wants to know whether interior painting should come before or after the installation of hardwood flooring.

Utilizing the proper tools can ensure the best paint job possible.

Interior Painting

Professional decorators say painting is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to dramatically change the look of a room. It's also one of the more accessible do-it-yourself projects for the homeowner, though a professional interior painting company will likely do a better and more long-lasting job.

Have you ever had a leaky roof leave a water stain on your ceiling? Has your home settled over the years and you are starting to see stress fractures and nail heads popping out of the drywall?

These are the most common problems with ceilings, and unless they are addressed, they can be quite an eyesore. If you are ready to tackle the project yourself, follow these simple tips and you will have a freshly painted ceiling in no time.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.

Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!

Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

Great company to deal with. It was a great experience from start to finish. From the phone call detailing the estimate and the work they would do until they left. The crew was respectful and kept the house clean. All repairs (nailholes, etc.) were properly fixed. Would definitely recommend.

The work began fine in early June. Two Workers were doing a good job. Then the last two days 3 or 4 additional workers started painting and areas were missed. I provided a detailed list of 6 areas needing attention.
Williston Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
said he would take care of it. After several requests - nothing was done. Two months later I requested arbitration. He said he would fix the areas by Oct 5th. Nothing was done. The front door frame was not painted. over spray in 5 areas. One side of the chimney was not painted and still has the old paint color showing. It's too bad, they worked hard but the lack of communication and follow through is lacking and is frustrating to deal with. The work needed oversight and final inspection, but it didn't happen. One worker said he was afraid of heights, so I question whether he was a temp worker, not a painter, brought in at the end. I have the email exchanges listing the many requests to complete the work. I have pictures of the problem areas which can be shared or posted. I recommend using a larger company with project managers who inspect and ensure the work is complete.

They came out and gave a very competitive bid. The first crew came out, was on time and started and completed the work. The work was okay. The first crew did not repair many of the details that we had discussed up front with regard to the drywall and other wall imperfections. We then contacted the company and they came right out and did a re-inspection. They agreed work needed to be redone and were going to send over a new crew. Also, during the re-inspection, we discovered that they had taken out an electric air freshener plug-in and placed it on a wood piece of furniture. The liquid leaked and ate through the stain (about two quarter sized

). The person said they would send over a furniture person to examine when the new crew came out. The new (second) crew arrived on time and did a great job. They were professional, lined the floors, smoothed out the walls and were obviously more experienced than the first crew. At this point, we ended up paying in full (OUR MISTAKE) and were disappointed at the remaining part of the transaction. No furniture person came out. When we called the company, they now claimed that there was no proof they were at fault. First of all, why did they not say that before they had all of our money (again OUR MISTAKE). Second, we just moved to the area, and had a company move us here to GA. They cataloged all of our furniture both inventory and pictures pre and post move. We have documentation to show that there were no

on the wood furniture. We believe it is bad business to call your clients out as trying to fabricate a story. We will not be recommending you for future use.

was great. He was in and out on schedule and did a great job. We have heavy horsehair plaster texture all over the house surrounded by unpainted oak. It was clean and covered well. Edging was fantastic and he even cleaned up some of the old woodwork.

Jr. was able to get us on his schedule quickly, a week after we had contacted him. I appreciated that as we were putting our house on the
Williston Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
soon. We preped the rooms and waited for him to come on the planned day, after waiting an hour for him to come I called and found out that he had looked at his schedule wrong and didn't see that we were on it. His mistake, so he put us down for the following day. I do believe this was an honest mistake and was grateful for him rescheduling us as quickly as he did.
The paint job was average. I am finding that I really shouldn't hire painting done as I have always done it myself and find I am very picky. He left a few splatters and didn't cut in quite as clean as I would have, but for the price and for how quickly they worked I can't complain.
They have team work down! My kids and I enjoyed their enthusiasm for their work and their friendliness.
I scheduled 2 men for 8 hours, they worked 3 men for 5 hours - I am not a math expert but that doesn't quite divide right.
Also, an hour before they were to stop they started their clean up which only took them 30 minutes. They pointed out a few times how clean they left things (which they did a great job at), but I felt like I had hired them to paint my walls not vacuum my floors. I did have a few other paint jobs they could have worked on but because of the time shortness they didn't bother to start on. I would have appreciated if they would have painted longer even if they couldn't have finished, as I could have finished later that day. They didn't even discuss this with me but assumed that I wouldn't want them to start something they couldn't finish.
Lastly, they had me buy three paint rollers for the job but only ended up using one. I had intended to return the two unused ones to the home improvement store to get my $20 back. When I contact them (via e-mail) they said they would be happy to pay for them if I couldn't find them, which I never did and I did contact them about it. I haven't heard back from them since.
All in all the painting was fine, I wasn't happy with how often I had to contact them (on missing the original appointment and the missing paint rollers), they are cheerful workers, but I won't be using them again. I will just do the work myself.

We are very happy with
Williston Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
's work on our bathroom. Our bathroom was a mess - we had about 5 layers of peeling paint and he came in, scraped the paint down, plastered the ceiling over and painted.
His pricing was also very reasonable for the quality of the work - we had three estimates and wound up going with

I would use certainly use him again.

I have nothing but great things to say about
Williston Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his crew. He was patient as I needed to postpone the job until new windows were installed. Then, his crew came up - they were professional, courteous and very hard working. They did an excellent job on both the exterior and interior jobs. It's a few month later and the house still looks awesome. The dining room is perfect.
I would hire
Williston Interior Painters Provider Name Locked
and his crew again in a heartbeat. I'm new to PA and it's nice to have found a go-to painting crew for all of our needs.
