Business Description: Bill Eichner was raised on a farm in eastern Nebraska, received his MD from University of Nebraska College of Medicine, and then interned at Gorgas Hospital in the Panama Canal Zone. He went on to serve as an Air Force Flight Surgeon for three years before completing a residency in ophthalmology at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. He enjoyed a year of ophthalmic surgery fellowship at St. John Ophthalmic Hospital in Jerusalem before landing in Middlebury in 1976. He established an ophthalmology practice in Middlebury, expanding to Ticonderoga, NY and Rutland during the next several years. He helped build the Vermont Lions Eye Bank during the late 70's, so that corneal transplants could be performed in Vermont.
