, the latter told us we'd get a call in the morning regarding servicing the unit.. Admittedly, we did have to be persistent to make this happen, but behavior on both sides was cordial. The next day, I was amazed to get a call at about 8 a.m. from a local, highly-regarded appliance repair outfit, to schedule a service call from their tech. Because they have a good relationship with
, they obviously put us on priority, and a tech was at my door about an hour later! Amazing!
Oh, and the problem was simply an unplugged plug to a key part. Whew!

"First technician was courteous and gave quote for work to be done. Parts needed to be ordered. When parts came in different technician came to provide service. This tech did not try separate parts however simply replaced both parts and charged an additional amount quoted. I had called the office to check on the pricing prior to service being rendered ...more to make sure of the amounts. When I called back to dispute the discrepancy in the total amount billed I was told that they would look into the matter and get with me the following day. Waited the next day until 2:45 and called to see what the status was on the billing and the explanation for the difference. The delivery team finally arrived about one hour late and told us that they could not deliver because "it was not safe".

The delivery and installation crew was equally professional and helpful. The appliances went in and worked without a hitch. The hoses and lines used are good quality stainless braided hoses. The dryer was installed with a minimum of vent hose instead of a winding snake behind the dryer. A separate install by a plumber of the dishwasher was scheduled at the same time as the other appliances and also went off without a hitch so I didn't have to show up at the house twice while we were finishing up packing our old house. I agreed. When the installer ...more came, they came with plywood boards as a replacement for the expandable plastic that always comes with window units and usually tears after a few seasons. The problem is that the boards they used were just bare plywood boards, which, on the outside of a finished and painted window, look terrible. This is particularly true since the unit faces the front of my building.
When we previously used a company that installed window units, including the unit we replaced, they used white boards that would match most painted window trim. I assumed
would have done the same. I was surprised the boards were completely unfinished. When I called,
refused to do anything, and that included a manager's decision as well. The person I spoke with actually said she didn't know whether windows on homes usually had painted trim on the outside "because she had never looked." Pretty shocking that this had never occurred to
before. And their refusal to address this hardly reflects their guarantee of customer satisfaction.
I will have no trouble painting the inside of the boards myself, but I will have to hire someone to come out and paint the outside with a ladder -- two stories up -- or unscrew and remove the boards and also the heavy unit, paint the boards, let them dry, and then essentially reinstall the unit again at my own additional expense. Not an expense I was planning to have to pay having already paid for the installation of this window unit. I should have used the other installers that I used before who understand what is esthetically required when installing window a/c units. "
