"Dr. is terrific, and above all cares for and excels at his work. I can't give higher recommendation than for him and his staff. They" take the fear and pain out of dentistry and are ALWAYS striving to do the conservative and preventative measures.

-Susan T.

"A re-treatment of the root canal was first advised, and I was referred to a particular endodontist. The office could not schedule me soon," and in the meantime the pain in the tooth grew to be much more....and became an apparent infection. I called back and was given a prescription for antibiotics and an appointment to come in to see what could be done. Thanks to Dr. 's quick response to my situation, he was able to successfully retreat one of the canals that was experiencing a problem The tooth infection calmed down after several days, and the root was refilled in a second appointment. This is only one example of the highly skilled and caring work that goes on daily at . I must also highlight the professionalism and efficiency of the entire staff. I am always treated so well here and I would recommend to anybody.

I am familiar witht he ClearChoice Dental Implant Centers across the country, in particluar, the one in Overland Park, KS.  They are a "one stop" implant center.  The doctors there are at the top of their field, and an advantage is that you have all of the specialists that will be working with you in the same place.  That would have to make communication easier between doctors.  They usually offer seminars for patients and I think, offer free consultations, which is always worthwhile.

If you chose to go the other way, some Prosthodontists will place and restore the implants themselves. In other cases, an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist will place the implant and a Prosthodontist or General Dentist restores it.   Fees can vary quite a bit from office to office and with the different options for restorative materials.  Some offer free consultations, for others, they charge a fee that might be applied to any future treatment in some cases.

The first step is to schedule a few consultations with different providers, which it sounds like you've already done.

The most important factors when deciding which practitioner to work with:
.1.  You should feel comfortable asking your doctor any questions so that you have a good understanding of the procedure itself, healing time and long-terem outcome, and possible complications.  Write down a list of questions and take them with you to the consultation.

2.  Ask about the experience of the practitioner. How many similiar procedures have they completed?  Have they had any major complications with any cases?  Ask to see photos if possible.

3..Figure out if it works out better for your schedule, to go to a "one stop" provider or to separate providers for the placement and the restoration of the implants.

4. Follow your instincts.  If you feel rushed, didn't get direct answers to your questions, didn't communicate well or had any other negative feelings, this probably isn't the doctor for you.

5. Consider insurance coverage and financing options.  If your dental plan covers implants and it is important to you to use a preferred provider, you will want to check your list.  Many times, insurance does not cover implants, or at least not all of the steps.  You may want to inquire about payment and financing options.

I hope this at least helps you feel a little less confused and a little more directed. Please don't hesitate to contact me if I can be of further help.

Dear jacknd... I was very sad to hear about the problem you had with your dentures, but not surprised. The fabrication of dentures is actually a complex treatment, and requires many steps to create comfortable, functional dentures. That is why well made dentures are usually expensive. It is not always true that 'you get what you pay for', but certainly, if dentures are inexpensive, that means that many critical steps in the treatment are omitted to reduce cost. Most people are unaware that the most expensive part of making dentures is the time that the doctor spends working on them. A denturist is a techincian, not a doctor. They can make moulds and set teeth in plastic, but they are unqualified to deal with the complexities of muscular function, and proper esthetics. To complicate things further, modern dental schools are spending much less time educating doctors about how to make dentures, since dentures are becoming a less common treatment. The emphasis is now on saving teeth. I would recomend that if you seek further treatment, you seek a dentist who went to dental school no later than the 1970's (like me). We spent a long time perfecting our denture skils when I was attending  University of Oregon Dental School. All the best, Dr. Stern (Philadelphia, PA)

Periodontia reviews in Williamsburg

Appointments for the temporary crown went well and easy. When crown came in it was an excellent fit and looks great. I am all repaired and ready to go! Highly recommend Dr. to get your teeth in order.

I have used him for YEARS! quality, care, responsiveness is all great for any type of dental work you may need. It is very personalized care from a routine cleaning to anything other dental work procedure you get done. They have a great location downtown with valet parking next door, which is free.
- Janet M.

He was suppose to put all porcelain crowns on 11 teeth of mine. He refused to put the all porcelain on my teeth when it was time. He wanted to put metal to porcelain instead. The all porcelain was even shown on my treatment plan. I had to put down a deposit of $3000.00 down to be applied to the final balance. He won't refund or return any of the money.
- George N.

Dr. is an amazing doctor, really gives you his best advice and takes his work very seriously. He explains every single detail to his patients, even takes photos to show you what's going on and how it can be addressed. Our family including grand parents have been using him for years and are very pleased.

DR. and his staff took care of my immediate problem. I did not have a regular dentist at the time. He gave me a list of recommended services, with prices in order of importance. I stayed for at least 5 years before I moved away. My wife who does not like dentist at all, and hadne;t seen one in over 25 ...More years finally broke down and went to Dr. for a roken tooth. She since has had regular check ups and is VERY satisfied with DR. and his entire staff...
- Martin H.

She was referred to me by my doctor. My old dentist said the tooth was rotten and had to be removed which would have costed way too much money. They offered me pain relief but the next day I felt great. This was a critical procedure to allow me to continue to eat food normally.
- Cheryl G.

I had been referred to Dr. by my general dentist to address significant gum recession on six upper teeth, three on the right and three on the left. I chose the method where the subepithelial tissue used to cover my recession is taken from the roof of my mouth. My rationale at the time was that I felt more comfortable using my ...More own natural tissue, even if there would be more discomfort and recovery time in the palate area.
I have to say Dr. is extremely professional when communicating with patients. When it comes to talking about anything related to periodontics, he conveys a serious demeanor during the consultation portion of the patient experience. He seems to be very confident and knowledgeable based on his answers to all my questions. I like this quality as it shows that he really cares about his patients and is passionate about his specialty. The confidence in which he responds to my questions is very reassuring so I understand exactly what I need to know.
The gum graft began with a few injections in the graft areas. His approach to the numbing injections ensured that I did not feel a thing for the entire 1 1/2 hour procedure. A mouth prop was placed so that I would not have to keep my mouth open on my own for the whole time. Dr. started with incisions around the teeth following by a planning of their roots. After the planning, he placed an anti-microbial solution before going on to the graft phase. Due to his excellent job in numbing the areas, I believe that sedation is unnecessary in this procedure for most people. The whole experience was the most relaxing dental procedure I have experienced. I actually enjoyed it.
Compared to the procedure, recovery is a different story. When returning home I would advise putting ice packs on the side of your face where the graft is for the rest of the day. I did this and as a result had no swelling. Also, take Ibuprofen before the Novocain wears off and take it regularly for the next few days. I ate nothing but soft liquids for the next two weeks and only on the side of the mouth opposite the grafts. And keep the area clean using the Chlorhexidine as mentioned in the instruction sheet. It also helps to minimize talking as the resulting mouth movement might hinder the healing process. I actually did not speak for the whole two weeks to keep the mouth relaxed during healing. It is kind of a boring experience recovering from this but necessary to have a successful graft.
Recovery is less painful if Alloderm is used for grafts since no tissue is harvested from the palate. So I think for the other three teeth I am going to choose this method for my next appointment.
- Gregory S.

We scheduled cleanings and appointments with the doctor. Everything went well. My wife wanted a very gentle technician and one was scheduled for her. She was very pleased. Both technicians were very thorough as well as the x- technician. The doctor is very professional and we were very pleased.
