Countertop Installation Reviews in Suffolk

I've used
for major kitchen remodeling, new floor installations, storm damage and exterior and interior painting over the last 3 years. They send a professional engineer to your home to give you and estimate; and if you like, you can sign, pay a deposit and get on their calendar all in the same visit. During and after each project their were visits by project managers to view the daily progress. Each worker was like a member of my family--Treating my wife and I well and offering helpful suggestions and patiently handling our questions. When the hurricane came through last year and damaged our roof they gave us preferrential treatment and came out the next morning to cover the damaged areas until they could make permanent repairs to the roof and resulting water damage inside. He runs and excellent organization with professional staff. I know they are not the cheapest. But I trust their competence and feel comfortable with them in my home. I'll continue to use them.

What a Nightmare! We bought the granite countertops through Home Depot during a sales promotion. Home Depot used
as their subcontractor. From the time we ordered to completion was almost 2 months. First,
took almost 2 weeks to contact us to schedule the countertop templating.
was our project manager and he claimed that we gave the wrong phone number. In actuality,
's phone system would not call my cell phone (a IPhone).
continued to use this as an excuse to not promptly return my phone calls all the way to the end. However, Home Depot was able to contact me. Okay, back to the templating,
notified us that it would be another 2 weeks before a templating person could come out because of the overwhelming response to the promotion. When the templating did come, everything was okay. During that time, the granite slabs came in and we had the opportunity to look at them (Rosewood). My wife loved the pattern/grain of these particular slabs.

Next came time for the installation...about another 2 weeks after the template was complete. We removed the old sink/countertops ourselves (saving about $750)...this DIY project was way too easy for a couple of newbies...I digress. The installers were professional and courteous. They installed the countertops (minus the backsplash/bartop) fairly quickly. One issue, that was a surprise to us, was that one of the countertops was actually 2 pieces, which would be glued together. The grain/pattern of both pieces did not match so the seam is very obvious. Definitely poor quality worksmanship by the company for their lack of attention to detail when cutting the slabs.

The major problems came in installing the backsplash and bartop. There was almost a 1/4" gap between the backsplash and bartop. The installers stop work at that point and called back to the shop. They told us there was enough slab left to recut the backsplash and they would be back in 2 days to reinstall. The day they were supposed to arrive,
called and said they were not coming out since they have no more backsplash. Then he proceeded to argue with my wife and me that it was our fault that this happened. After several veiled threats by him that we signed the contract and they were under no obligation to fix their mistake, he finally stated that they could order new slab or give us a refund for the backsplash. For the new slab, there was no more of our lot number so it was a gamble whether or not the slab would even match our grain/pattern. For the refund, it was only about $400...probably not enough if we decided to do a tile backsplash.

After given these options, we contacted Home Depot to see what they could do...which was not much initially. After about of week of phone calls between us, Home Depot, and
. We decided to have the installers come back out and see if they could just close the gap with stints and sealant (based on the advice of
). They came out, and this plan would not work..the gap was just way too big. After informing Home Depot again of our dissatisfaction, the regional manager came out to inspect the work and discuss options. Finally, we had some one who cared about the customer. We discussed several options, and decided with shaving off about 1/8" from the halfwall that the bar sits on top. Also, he told us to go pick up some supports for the bar top and they would install as well. After about another 5 days (and multiple calls back to Home Depot),
finally contacted us to finish installation. They did, to include lowering the bartop, taking off and reinstalling the moulding, and installing the supports. Definitely glad we decided with this option. We had to recaulk everything once they were done.

The price was on target with absolutely no bickering. Everything was caulked superbly. The joint between 2 sections was held together with a vacuum-vice while epoxy hardened, so you can barely see it. The counter overhangs (lunch counters) are straight and smooth. The template put together by June was glued and carried to the shop in several pieces. Everything fit perfect. These folks are highly recommended. I showed them the "F" grade they received on Angie's List, and they were truly shocked. It was probably a mis-understanding, and I would doubt, not by

Crisp. I noticed a minor fissure (typical for any natural rock), and he immediately sent some one out to fill it with epoxy. WOW!! I have already recommended this company to my desk mates who are ordering granite. The price of this 3cm granite was only slightly more than another countertop construction company's 2cm granite.

They would never return my calls and showed up with out notifying me. They told us after the fact we needed extra support for our bar hang.

, President/CEO, should have told us that when he came out to give us the estimate. Lastly, they owe us $40; we wouldn't make a big deal of the money if we where satisfied.

The finished product was beautiful. I was very satisfied with the way everything looked and functioned. We did have some problems with their scheduling and the installation didn t go as well as we wished. They made sure in the end that everything was right.

came to our home to remove our old countertops and install the new ones. We are very satisfied with the work that they did. The company was very knowledgeable and answered our questions well. They were aware of children while installing the countertops and they cleaned up after themselves.

I was pleased with the work that they did. They had a lot of ideas and actually were able to turn our dining room and laundry room into one spacious room. They gave me eleven references and everyone had good things to say about them. They were very trusting to have in my home. I did leave them a key to my home so they could work on it if I was away. Their craftsmanship was superb. Their personalities were heart warming. I really enjoyed their service.

The contractor that

sent to do this job was one of the worst. They had measured wrong twice on our cabinets that cost $40,000. They had to tear them all out and do them over again, and they still didn t get the four doors matched. All of the work on my kitchen was bad. There were mistakes in everything. I would never do business with them again. They also had to re-do the walls twice because they did very bad work. They started in September of 2005 and didn t get done until March of 2006.

Excellent. QSC went out of their way to find a granite remnant. My cabinet maker (former) had been looking for 6 weeks and came up with nothing. QSC found exactly what I was looking for the first day I went to see them. They rushed the fabrication and installed the counter top the weekend before Christmas. The installation was fast and efficient and the installers were polite and professional.
