Bottom line: Due to the inattention of the job to be performed, as well as the poor customer service on the back end, we will be looking elsewhere in the future for exterior house cleaning services.
The appointment process was done very well. The lady with whom we made the appointment was friendly, courteous, and prompt. Making the appointment was easy, and we received a confirmation for power washing at a competitive price. I confirmed that no one had to be home for the service.
The gentleman from the company arrived on time; however, he was set to wash windows. If my wife had not been home (which she was scheduled not to be), we would have received the wrong service. I double checked the confirmation, which clearly states "power washing" instead of "clean windows."
The part of our service which was most annoying and least satisfying, however, occurred following the service. We did receive a small invoice at the time of service which states $300 in a "cash received" line - I know, of course, what this meant was the amount owed, but I bring it up to indicate the lack of clarity and detail on the invoice; most importantly, no where does it state the terms of service - net 30, due upon receipt, etc. nor did I receive a call that day (a Friday) asking how the service was. However, over the next few days, we received some fairly unprofessional messages on our answering machine, describing how workers need to feed their kids, and implying that we weren't going to pay. My wife and I found it insulting, especially since the terms of payment were unclear, and it has only been (now 8) days since the service.
Since I have been out of town, I called the lady who left the messages, told her the check was in this morning's mail, and I wanted to give her some feedback as a customer that the terms were not clear. She was very defensive and raised her voice, explaining her "guys need to get paid," which I can appreciate and understand, and continued to argue with me. I did not appreciate at all the back end of this process - it is certainly not a way that I expect to be treated as a first time customer.
Overall, the house is clean, but the process got steadily worse from beginning to end. I would've expected this business to have been thinking longer term about repeat business (i actually do need our windows washed), and to have given us a much larger benefit of the doubt after only having an invoice for 8 days. Courtesy messages explaining the necessity of prompt payment would've been fine as well, but I don't need messages implying anything else.
We think we're the best, and we can prove it.
