"Reported on time as agreed. Told me bathtub was in fair shape to begin with. But a new coat would help ,if we wanted it. No pressure. We had it done and its great." Took about two hours. Clean up and all. Smell was bad, but with his fan in window and door closed it helped . Smell was gone by evening. We are very pleased with work and woulld call TUB-N=COUNTER again.

"Other than the fact that this all took place over the Christmas holidays, it went great. It took about a week longer than we anticipated...again, probably due to" the holiday season, but still considerably shorter time that any of the other contractors we got bids from quoted. We knew this was going to be a dirty and dusty job, which it certainly was, but the workmen made every effort to cover floors, rugs, etc. and keep doors closed to contain the dust. (Still very dusty). They cleaned up after themselves every day before they left, and kept us apprised of their progress and any problems that arose. We found all --ALL -- the workmen to be congenial, professional, thorough and extremely hardworking. We did discover s problem with one of the faucets s few days after the job was completed, but when we called
, they promptly arranged for a workman to come out and the problem was fixed the very next day. We love our new bathroom...just wish we'd done it years ago. And we would use
again and recommend them without reservation.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

http://indigochreblog.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0835.jpg

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

An appointment was scheduled to do the work in a timely fashion. I was called with instructions prior the service as I was told would happen. The provider came on time and the work was performed in a professional manner.
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
was polite, professional and knowledgeable ... and a very, very hard worker. He worked for many hours to prepare the tub for
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
and did all possible to contain the inevitable dust generated by the procedure. FYI, the actual chemical
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
has a very strong smell, but dissipated within a few hours with the windows open and ceiling fans on. In that the bathtub is quite old (like ~100 years) and much of the porcelain has been removed by years of cleaning, I am pleased with the appearance of the tub.
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
repaired numerous chips and dings without additional cost although the contract stated that more than three would be extra. In addition
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
recommended an 2nd coat of high build primer to help even out the surface, which I elected to have done ($100). Although the surface is not perfectly smooth like a new tub I am satisfied that all was done to provide me with the best possible result considering the original condition of the tub.
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
was here about 6.5 hours - he took care with the work and did not cut corners from what I know. There are special instructions for care of the tub (verbal and written) and you will have to ask me down the road about the durability of the surface, etc. There is one year guarantee on the work. There is a travel fee if the work is more than 20 miles from
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
Park. The deal coupon stated that is would be $15 but I was charged $30 because of additional distance - a surprise to me but fair enough. The only unanticipated problem I encountered was that replacing the caulk between the bathtub and the wall ended up being my responsibility. I did not understand this would be the case and in that I am not handy, want the job done correctly, do not have time to take care of this myself, and have yet to find someone to come out to take care of this - I am a week out and still cannot use the tub/shower.

It went well. The person who did the job took great pains to be sure surrounding surfaces were covered (they use a spray). The odor was pretty strong for about a day afterwards, but then there is not a lot of ventilation in that room. The shower looks great. It has been a few months since it was done and it still looks like new.

Paid him cash the day he did the job, as he requested. After using the tub for four months, paint started peeling off of sides. Called
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
in Middlebury, CT and told him about the problem. He wanted $65. just to come out and look at it and another $450 to try and fix it. Never came out to look at it and told me it was because of the use of a bath mat but that was definitely not the case as the paint was peeling off the sides, not the floor. Gave a one year guarantee, his work didn't last 4 months and he keeps coming up with excuses why he wont stand behind his work. Never use this guy!!!

arrived promptly at the agreed-to appointment time and took a look at our tub, which had some pits, rusting, and stubborn stains. After carefully inspecting the tub, he told me that he'd like to first try to use his industrial strength cleansers, to see if the rust and other stains would come out, before embarking upon a full
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
job. As it turned out, our tub didn't need a full
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
after all. The special cleansers he used took care of all the unsightly stains. I had also requested the slip-resistant coating, which nicely covered the small pitting in that area of the tub. The cleaning, sealing, plus the added slip-resistant coating would have cost me a little bit more than the original Big Deal offer, but when
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
had asked me what I had paid for the deal, he simply said, "Let's just call it even."
In less than an hour's time, our tub now looks great, like new.
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
said it should last us about 10 years, with proper care.
I really appreciated

's professionalism, friendliness, and honesty. He helped saved the integrity of our porcelain tub, by first trying a less invasive approach to addressing our issues. I had at first thought we needed and then signed up for a tub

They came out and looked at the tub I wanted refinished and told me it would be an additional $200 for the work. I felt the deal was a gimmick to get the company out to my home and add extra costs for more work done and I didn't really like that, but they worked it out with me anyway and did excellent work.

Installation was not great. Tile was damaged, and the trim for the tub was glued down on top of the trim for the floor. Also, nonpaintable caulk was left on the walls. Plumbing was a bit wonkie.
The big problem though is that we can NOT get the tub clean. We have used several products, always from Bathfitter's list of approved products, and the soap scum will simplfy not come off.
We ran into the woman who was, at the time, in charge of the Montlake office at the Evergreen State Fair in 2014. She told us to schedule a service call, and that the tub may not have been installed correctly. The guy came out, tried to get a bit of the tub clean, and couldn't. He left us some product in a bucket and told my husband it was simply a matter of "elbow grease". Then they sent us a bill for $98.55, and made a note in the record that we had used unapproved products and thus voided our warranty. It was not true.
I have since tried repeatedly to get through to someone at Bathfitter who could help solve this problem. I have had no luck.
$5500 and we're back where we started. I don't know how they get away with it.

I spoke to several
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
firms before calling
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
at
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
. I was concerned about chips and a rusted drain on my current tub and wanted to know if these could be corrected and the tub refinished in white. He stopped at the house to make a determination and was very helpful with suggestions for completing a new tub surround I was installing myself. We agreed on a price and made a date to do the job. On the agreed day he was punctual and very attentive to detail. By the end of the day my tub looked new for a fraction of the price of replacing it with a new one or a with a liner. As a bonus
Staunton Bathtub Refinishers Provider Name Locked
provides a 10 year warranty and left a care guide. Overall I am very satisfied with the outcome.
