I'd heartily recommend
The last two weeks of the project included:
1. The installation and grouting of the backsplash tile.
2. Ceiling repair caused by the required removal of the large flourescent light.
3. Installation of new sink, new faucet, and disposal.
4. Installation of Dishwasher, Refrigerator, Range, and Microwave.
5. Refitting of hood exhaust connecting to existing attic exhaust.
6. Installation of wood and door panels on back of family room facing cabinets which matched the kitchen cabinets.
7. Installation of the dual waste containers in one 18" cabinet.
As of Tuesday, August 26 the kitchen is beautiful and complete. From demo to final step, it took 4.5 weeks.
Would I do it all over again? Yes. Would I use
wouldn’t be able to find a fabricator willing to do such a “small” job. Luckily,
fantastic job. He was prompt, professional, easy to work with and
delivered exactly what he promised. He was also flexible, and willing to work
around our busy schedules. Best of all, the countertop is exactly what I
wanted. He chose the half slab for me after I told him what style and color I
wanted. The countertop looks beautiful, and it’s perfectly installed. I
recommend him 100%!
The main island counter was not the right size and too short on the overhang side. Also one corner was supposed to be curved similar to the others and he put a sharp corner on it.
He apparently never took notes on the day we discussed things. Then tried to blame us because he did it wrong.
Even though we gave him the opportunity to fix things, he refused to do so. Therefore we asked for our money back and had him remove the counters.
He could have minimized his losses by putting in a new counter top because he could've re-used 80-90% of the slab that was cut wrong.
However, by refusing to fix things he lost more money on materials and the labor to remove everything.
Obviously not a smart business decision.
The "complex" nature of the install is that I live in a 3rd floor walk-up co-op in Manhattan. The building requires a certificate of insurance for any work.
The installation was also flawless. The guys were somehow able to get the large, heavy piece of granite upstairs intact. There was no damage to narrow hallways, staircase, etc. They removed the old counter (tile), installed the new counter and stainless steel sink (did not do plumbing, just sink) and cleaned up the entire work area. It was spotless when they left. They too were professional and friendly and offered advice on how to clean and best protect and maintain the look of the granite.
A few days later a thank you card arrived in the mail. I can't remember the last time (if ever) a business took the time to say thanks!
They were also very flexible on scheduling and did their best to do the installation within our preferred time frame (within week or two of purchase).
The installation was quick and smooth.
