"It went extremely well. The workers were very efficient. I was especially happy with the aesthetics of the tree trimming. All the trees look great. We have two citrus" tree that were growing out of control and they cut them back and shaped them beautifully. We also have an old California pepper tree that they thinned out and also shaped beautifully. They did an excellent clean up job when they were finished. Also, the rep who gave us the estimate was very personable and informed about our trees.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

In the fall of 2014,
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
came to my property at my request and provided an estimate to remove four trees that are on our property and need to be removed for the good of the house. Once the estimate was provided and my wife and I discussed, we determined that we wanted to wait until post-tax return to have the work done. I advised Mr.
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
of this and told him I would contact him then.
On 2/16 I began attempting to contact him to try to schedule the work. As of today, 2/25, I have not heard back from anyone at
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
. I notice that one of his prior Angie's List reviews stated that he was no longer doing tree work, but his company Facebook page seems to sing a different tune as every post made is about tree work.
Truly confusing situation. The estimate on the job was upward of $2,500 and I would think they would be interested in the money. I guess not.
I have now attempted to hire three A rated Pittsburgh area arborists from Angie's List and have yet to find anyone willing to take our money. Truly dumbfounding.

was awesome. He was extremely responsive, returned my call within just an hour or so, visited my home to assess the job, gave me an estimate, and completed all of the work the very next day. The work was very well done and the yard was totally cleaned up. I highly recommend him!

Being out-of-state, I had to trust
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
to do the job in my absence.
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
was much lower than the other three bidders and demonstrated an eagerness to do the job. Upon completion, they sent me photos of the area and would not accept payment unless I was 100% satisfied. That type of "old school" service and trust is rare, but sincerely appreciated.
For all future jobs, there is no question that

will be called.

came out and looked over the trees and then gave me the cost to do all the work I wanted done. His total price was competitive with other companies that have trimmed my trees. The crew came and did over 30 trees in one day. They did excellent work. They also cleaned up the leaves around the entire property. I was very happy with their work.

The job went great. Three workers arrived a bit early and had the job done in about one hour. They were very receptive to direction from us, as far as what we wanted done. Keeping in mind that we are somewhat picky, they were very easy to work with. Very hard workers, and very pleasent guys. We had talked with three other service providers found through Angies List. One did not want to come this far north, and the other two were $100.00 or more for the same job. All in all very pleased with Affordable, and would not hesitate to have them back, or recommend them to others.

I received 2 quotes on this job, one for over $1000 which set me back a bit, followed by a reasonable quote of $575 by

Service. I wasn't home when they arrived, and did not get to see the finished job until later in the day. I was a little fearful of damage to my lawn, considering that all three trees were large and there would be a lot of debris from trimming them. I was pleasantly surprised to come home and find that there wasn't a single divot or other
Radford Tree Services Provider Name Locked
on my lawn, there weren't even any stray leaves or twigs visible. Their cleanup crew is fantastic! Besides that, the trees look wonderful and I am well pleased by their service! I will use them without hesitation in the future, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional tree service.

We scheduled a time for him to come out and give me an estimate and he was right on time. I bought this house that had not been lived in years. It was severely overgrown. It needed a lot of help. They came in one day and did a wonderful job. They cut down trees, trimmed trees, removed vines and picked up all the debris including the stuff I had all over the yard. It truly looks like a different place. To sum it up in one word, FANTASTIC !!!!! Use me for a reference anytime!
