"This was the WORST customer service of my life. First we spoke on the phone with
to see if they could provide the service we needed. "
" " said yes, no problem, get the orifices our grill needed, bring in the grill or orifices in, and he would drill them for us. His fee was $50/ per hour if we brought the grill in (which we were happy to pay) or $10 per orifice. We loaded up and brought in our grill in no less than 3 times. The "employee"
, who seems to have attendance problems as he wasn't there the other three times we went despite being told he was there on Friday-Sunday. Finally, we were able to talk with
in person and he said he wouldn't work on our grill because it had been used. "He didn't buy this business to get all greasy." He was extremely rude and abrupt. Apparently $50 an hour isn't enough to provide customers the service he said that he would. As a business owner, he should know how to speak to people. At the rate of $50/hour, I should think a little grease is a small sacrifice. With this kinda service and attitude, I should think
won't have to worry about getting greasy for much longer in the future

"
owns
Gas of Richlandtown, PA. This was a family-owned company until about 3 years ago when they were bought out by"
. The original company was a pleasure to work with. They were courteous, punctual, and didn't gouge you for propane prices. The current company is now owned and operated by
. Since their ownership we almost ran out of gas 2 winters ago, waiting for delivery for over 4 weeks in the dead of an extreme winter, dropping to 2% capacity and, this year, have not benefited from the current drop in energy costs. I will be paying $1.59 a
from the new chosen gas supplier while
/
continues to charge $2.72. There is no other word for this kind of price discrepancy other than thievery!

Propane Sales and Service

Propane is three-carbon alkane formed as a byproduct of natural gas processing and petroleum refining. Initially produced as a gas, it can be compressed to a lightweight, stable liquid for transport and storage.

Providers who deliver propane, such as Boye's Gas Service in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., are in great demand across the U.S., thanks to wicked winter weather. (Photo submitted by member Sue P.)

Brutally cold winter weather in Midwestern states causing homeowners and providers to feel strain of propane shortage as prices rise and supply dwindles.

Called in the morning, the truck was out in a few hours. Service tech was very polite and friendly. Have also called the office for setting up the transfer of account from previous owner.

Opinions on
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
are divided in our household.
I chose Thrifty because they were willing to come and fill the tank up when I called them. I had heard that a lot of other companies were unwilling to do that. Instead you were expected to enter into some sort of contract with them, where you would agree to purchase a certain amount of propane per month, based on some estimate of typical consumption and if you used less, you still had to pay for the full amount. I didn't like the sound of that, so I chose the first company I called that was willing to deliver without a contract. That's why I like them. I do my best to heat the house with a wood
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
and use as little propane as I can possibly get away with.
My spouse on the other hand does not like Thrifty and has asked me to find a different service. This past winter, we ran out of propane 3 times. It's difficult to say if I or Thrifty were at fault (I'm willing to share the blame). The problem is this. Thrifty has a partial fill charge. This means that if the tank is not almost empty when they arrive to fill it, you are charged a penalty. Exactly how low the level must be in order to avoid the penalty is not clear (varies based on whoever answers the phone). Well, I've ended up paying it more than once so I tend to wait until it's very low before I call them. I've gotten pretty good at judging when we will run out of propane. And if Thrifty delivered within the time interval they advertise, we would never run out. But they don't. With Thrifty, the truck might show up the day after I call or up to 25 days later (yes. that has happened). If a cold big cold snap is coming, except substantial delay. They really do get swamped. Calling customer support sometimes helps and other times it's futile.
Personally, I think delays are par for the course when you are having heating fuel delivered to you in an expanding urban area. For me, Thrifty is a known quantity, and I'd rather stay with them then take my business elsewhere.

Showed up on time and had everything completed in an hour. Explained everything to my wife about how the service and refills work. Had my first refill three months later and that process was seamless, they just left a bill at my front door.

They explained in detail all my options. I choose the least expensive option for me. Within a few weeks (at my request) they delivered 2 new tanks, and the equipment to install them. The next day, the crew arrived and removed the old tanks. Installed the new tanks and explained how the tanks are monitored - I will never have to call to tell someone that my tanks are low. I will get an actual person who knows me answer the phone. I will never be hit with an excessive bill for propane at the end of the year!

It is amazing that when you reach out to a company that you currently use for oil that it is this difficult to get even a call back for installation of a propane tank. When I first called
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
to have someone come out to look at my house, it took four calls over a week plus to get the installer to call me back. Then, after they came to the house, I tried calling them back to set up an installation, it's taken three days, two phone calls, and I've been told the installer is in meetings for "two days" and they're unsure when he'll call me back. As a current customer, I would have expected better from
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
. I initially went with them thinking that they are a huge company that would be able to have someone on the case in situations like these immediately. Apparently, that isn't the case, and I simply get the run-around time after time. It's certainly
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
me to believe I need to go somewhere else for propane, as they do not want my business. I'll also be re-evaluating
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
for heating oil service after this situation.

I visited them 5 times and I bought a home and closed on it 21 August 2014. Before purchasing I contacted
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
about the tank they had in place. They assured me that the gas was paid for and conveyed with the closing as did my attorney. A week after closing I caught a
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
employee at the house "measuring the tank' so they could refund the prior owner. I let the guy know that I owned the home and the gas was mine as the seller never pursued the 200 gallons of gas in a 400 thousand purchase.
Because they had this tank in place I agreed to use them for refills and wanted to have another tank installed. Thank goodness they decided to send me a bill for the gas in the tank before I had them install anything else. I visited them 5 times to get the problem solved and they finally admitted that AFTER I had closed they decided to refund the prior owner for the gas which legally conveyed to me just like the well water and electric meter did. Immediately when the problem arose I had the tank disconnected and bought a tank which some other company services now.
After a winter of threats from them I finally was able to speak with a higher up in Texas. I simply explained the situation and said if they showed me a receipt from after 21 August I would gladly pay it and if not gave them permission to just take the tank and leave me alone if they would give me a zero balance due receipt. I would take the loss on the gas I paid for at closing. They apologized and after a few months they took the tank.
Now to really crap on a disabled veteran they are sending me bills for emptying the tank and
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
it away. I now realize that when I overheard a woman in the back office complain about "that bitchy veteran", she was speaking about me.
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
actually owes ME for the gas because they denied me the free use of it then took it away without due compensation or use of it.
Would Angies List please help me in this. I really am a DAV with a terminal bone disease and do not wish to pass this garbage on to my wife. They absolutely cannot show a delivery receipt since I purchased the house and now the letters are threats to
Mechanicsville Propane Dealers Provider Name Locked
my credit with an agency again. I am tired and fed up with their deceit. Oh, When I asked to see a receipt where they actually did pay the prior owner back they could not. It seems they were just determined to double bill the gas. Please help me.

the price they quoted back then was TWICE as much as competitor's. when trying to pay the fee, they had added a late fee of over $30 to the $110 lease fee (also more than twice of what I have to pay now) and they very rudely informed me that this cannot be waived even though I was only about 2 weeks late and had been on an extended vacation in Germany when the bill came. I finally cancelled the contract last week (had to wait until the propane level was at 5%) and would be surprised if there is much of a refund for the 4-5 months remaining on the lease. They will find all kinds of expenses/reasons. overall, I just felt like they could care less about me as their customer of 11 years - maybe they cater more to big businesses with bigger orders. It seemed like they nickel-and dime small consumers to death...

The propane is not used for heating, it is only used for propane. I had paid in advance so that I have a credit balance which even after their delivery I still have it. I have been using since I moved here in 1991. They are very dependable. The owner used to be a customer of mine when I was in business, we used to deliver truckloads of propane into his tank and now he has two sons in his business.

He is competitive and his prices has not gone up yet.
