"Upon initiial contact with representative, I specifically asked for stump to be ground down (to match itemized bid from competitor). After crew finished work on" following Monday I was told that the stump grinder was a separate crew and would come later and I could paty at that time. Later that day after no one came to grind the stump I called
and they told me that stump grinding wasn't included in the quote, only cutting stump to ground level. Well the stump was not cut level (about 10" above ground) and indeed the quote did say "level cut", so they sent a gentlemean out with a chain saw who did an acceptable job of level-cutting the stump. But I am not happy that I specifically asked for the stump to be ground for the initial quote and got something else. I guess the moral of the story is to check any written quote carefully and question any ambiguous language.

"This service was recommended by a trusted neighbor and they are a part of the community. I got a free estimate in writing and accepted. Service was completed within" two weeks (slight delay for Ohio winter weather). The trees were removed and the yard cleaned up of all debris. They even cut and piled the wood for me to give to a family member. I would happily use
Service in the future, and recommend them.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Arrived as scheduled, moved the tree from the truck though our side yard to planting location. Placed plywood at all locations to ensure no damage to patio. Planted, staked and cleaned up in less than an hour. left care and maintenance instructions. Would highly recommend them.

came and gave me an estimate a few days before the service was performed. I agreed to have them perform the work and a day and time was agreed to. They were prompt in being at the site and began working soon after. The crew worked continously until the work was done. The whole crew was professional and worked hard.

is an excellent company. Every question I asked about my bushes and trees was answered. Everyone was prompt, polite, and unobtrusive. Some companies charge you to haul away the debris, but
Martinsville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
gives you this service in the price you pay. Not only were the bushed trimmed, but the ground around the bushes was cleared. Even a few large rocks that were on the ground were placed to make the area look like a garden. I will Definately use this company every year.

and his crew arrived promptly at 7:30am. First, they tackled the removal of a 60' Italian stone pine from our front yard.
Martinsville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
worked quickly and efficiently, taking great care to avoid damaging the house or surrounding landscaping as he took the tree down, branch by branch. After the tree was down,

ground the stump below grade and the other crew members removed all debris. Finally,

trimmed four trees in our back yard, again taking great care to avoid damaging surrounding trees and landscaping. He did a masterful job thinning and shaping the trees, including a 70' pecan tree. They wrapped up the job 7 1/2 hours later and left the entire work site in pristine condition.
This was our first experience using

but it will definitely not be our last. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a tree service company.

Work was done efficiently and rapidly. Area was left clean and leveled. Good job, not much to say about a Stump Grinder, but I would definitely use
Martinsville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
again if the need arises.

The owner was very knowledgeable and honest. He treated our ash tree and gave advice on a new tree to provide shade in our back yard. We picked our a red maple and later asked for a dogwood for the front. The service was very timely and the work was excellent. The silver maple was trimmed when we were not home and there was no evidence of the work except for the improvement to the tree when we returned. We were home when the red maple and Japanese maple were planted. The workers were efficient and tidy. When they left we had two lovely trees and no evidence of the planting process. They even put the extra soil in our garden. I can't wait to see these trees in the spring. If we have any more landscaping to do

would be my first call!

This is the email that I tried sending to the owners, after repeated phone calls with no answer. The web address is invalid. I am thinking that they are an unlicensed business. The employees were some of the most profane, unprofessional people that I have ever dealt with. Even worse than the inmates I dealt with in my 25+ year career working in Federal Prisons.
Today you had a crew cutting trees at a condo complex in the 7700 block of 196th Street in Lynnwood/

. I am the property owner behind this complex, .........,

. I was playing in the yard with my dog today as your workers were cutting the trees. They were dropping lots of limbs into my yard. I asked them to stop dropping them into my yard, to which they replied that they were not doing it. This as I watched them do it, and there was a pile of fresh cut limbs on my yard underneath the tree they were cutting. I asked them the name of their company, to which the man cutting the tree responded, "F*** You Tree Company". I told him I was going to toss the limbs back over the fence so they could shred them. I was met with a barrage of F*** you's that was unbelievable. I tossed the limbs over the fence, and they tossed them back. They then threatened me with

harm (Come over here, I'll kick your f****** a**!). I drove over to the condo complex to get the name of your company off their truck. The truck was unmarked. The license plates were B37935T and C600413. They again threatened me, and told me to f*** off. I, and the manager of the apartment complex next door, contacted the condo representative, who told us the name of the company was
Martinsville Tree Services Provider Name Locked
. He went to the job site and confronted the tree cutters. They had the nerve to say that I started the confrontation when I came over and threatened them. I am a 55 year old man, a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer, and had a stroke last year that has left me crippled. I am not the type to threaten anyone, much less in any shape to do so. I am extremely disappointed in the unprofessionalism of your crew. I would hope you will take actions to remedy the situation, as they represent your company. There is no place in the world for them to act in such a manner. I would really like to hear from you. Thank you.

Awesome - they arrived super fast after placing the call and getting the estimate. They had the tree removed and the area cleaned spotless in about an hour. They gave me the option to grind the stump but I chose to have it cut close the the ground, and you'd never know a tree was there. They raked and used leaf blowers to tidy up and did a great job.
