"They're a good service! It seems the biggest complaints with these services are that the call centers are sometimes outsourced, and
is definitely good" in this regard. Their rates are annual (you get a free month that way), and their pricing is very competitive. The only complaint I've had was when I had to change out the unit because I had just paid to change the batteries (and I ended up double paying). The service seems to be very responsive and I'll definitely stay with them for the foreseeable future.

" Excellent customer service, price and performance. The alarm arrived within two days, and was very easy to set up. I chose this company because they had an home & yard model" with a very long range. Long range means that you don't have to be close to the base unit to communicate. Verbal communication goes directly through the pendant. My father lives in a large ranch, where there are long distances from one end of the house to the other, and a mailbox at the end of the driveway. You don't need the yard feature ONLY for going outside - it's good if you have a large house where you may be too far away from the base unit for a standard model to work. I tested the alarm at all points of the house and mailbox area, including in the shower, and had absolutely no trouble contacting the alarm company. Also, they had a lock box where you can set your own combination code, so emergency responders can still get in the house if no one can open the door. There is also a battery backup on the base unit, so it continues to work during a power failure, and the company does automatic battery checks every week and the unit will notify you that the battery is ok. Excellent company and excellent product.

"While it took quite awhile for the
folks to get back to me for the initial set-up, everything went well once they did. The product seems like a very good medical" alert program, since it has a GPS system in it. Thankfully we have not had to use it yet.

Medical alert systems

A medical alert system is an electronic device that provides monitoring services for independently living elderly or disabled people. In an emergency, they can connect to the provider's response center, which can summon help.

We have used Lifeline medical alert from
Fairfax Medical Alert Systems Provider Name Locked
Services for several years now for two elderly family members living alone and we have been very happy with the service. First we got Lifeline for my grandmother, and we were so happy with it my great-aunt also got a Lifeline button. There is a medical alert button to be worn on a necklace or bracelet and pressed if there is an emergency, and there is an alert box that connects through the regular telephone line, there was no instillation, you just plug the box in like a regular telephone.
JFS calls to remind us to press the button to test the system at least once a month to make sure it is working, and all medical alerts triggered by pressing the alarm button have been handled promptly and accurately.
The full cost is $37 a month for those with adequate income, and because it is through

Services there is a sliding fee scale for lower income seniors.

The gentleman arrived on time and spent plenty of time with us to make sure we were comfortable with everything. They also call every month to test out the system.

The system seemed convenient at first, but now they are refusing to honor $1,818.06 of a purchase of FSA-eligible items that was made online (using one of their partner paperless pharmacies within the designated time frame) from the correct plan year. All items in the order were listed as "FSA eligible" by the partner paperless pharmacy. The purchase was made using the Benecard in a time frame that is covered by both the 2009-2010 plan year and the 2010-2011 plan year. They are supposed to exhaust the 2009-2010 plan year funds before dipping into the 2010-2011 plan year funds. Instead, they show $1,818.06 of unclaimed funds in the 2009-2010 plan year, are using the 2010-2011 plan year funds to cover the 2009-2010 purchase, and have exhausted the 2010-2011 plan year funds by doing so. In other words, they are trying to keep the $1,818.06 that was withheld from my paycheck. Yes, steal it! And they have taken away my ability to use my 2010-2011 plan year funds in the meantime. It has been almost four months since the 2009-2010 plan year purchase and they still have not corrected the problem. It is an ongoing nightmare trying to get it resolved. $1,818.06 is a lot of money for them to try to "keep" when the purchase was made within the guidelines. I doubt that I will ever use this company again. The only reason that I might is if it is my only option to use pre-tax dollars to pay for medical expenses or dependent care expenses. But I would minimize the coverage and look for other options first. They also seem to delay dependent care expense reimbursements, requiring resubmission of the same claim forms (after an initial denial) before they will approve them. If you use ANY of their FSA services, hold onto your receipts and track the processing of your claims!

My friend recommended this company because of the technology they use. If my mother falls and is not conscious, the medical alert system goes into effect and contacts the emergency people. I thought this was better because one of my mother's friend fell and was unconscious and could not push a button....so she laid on the floor for hours I met with Avrum
