"I called for an appointment and immediately received an answer. They had great appointment times starting at 7:30 am and I was able to get an appointment quickly for a Friday at 7:30 am. The plumber showed up a little after 7:30. He was professional and introduced himself. He went through each room with plumbing and checked it out. He checked under the house. He also drained the water heater.
I wish they had a checklist of what they checked similar to what HVAC and termite inspections have. I am not sure if he checked my propane fireplace or not. However, he said that everything looked good. I had a wet spot on my kitchen ceiling which he didn't mention. Not sure if it was because he didn't see it or he didn't think it related to plumbing.
As far as the inspection, I think it went fine. However, because I knew I had issues that needed to be resolved, I didn't feel totally comfortable that I would get the service I desired. Both my upstairs and downstairs tub/showers drip constantly. He did notice that. I don't get hot water out of my tub downstairs so it can not be used in the winter. I took off the handle to the shower upstairs to get to the hot water. He gave me a quote to replace both knob/valve units as well as to repair them. I shared with him what information about the parts I had received from a friend. I tried to give him the part number but he didn't seem interested. I asked if I could get the parts, he said I could. I asked if he could verify the part number by looking at it. He said that he would have to charge me $120 to take off the cover to get the part number.
I think at this point I got a little confused about how this was going to work. I wasn't sure how he was going to repair something if he didn't verify what valves were in there to start with. I also didn't feel comfortable ordering parts if they didn't verify it. If I ordered the wrong parts, then I would have to pay for the service call to be told the parts were wrong. I did not want to pay $120 to have him do a 10 minute job to verify a part. I would not have minded the offer to pay the $120 upfront and to have at least some of it refunded if I booked the job with them. I would have thought that was fair.
I did not feel assured that if I decided to have the parts replaced that it was even possible or that it would work. I felt like he was there to do just that job but not take care of me as a customer. Nor, did I feel like he used that service call to engage future business. I think it was a missed opportunity for the company. They missed out on extra business as well as having a regular customer.
I ended up calling another provider.

(owner) did a fantastic job in all aspects. I'm a technical person so i was following along with his recommendations. He politely told us that the other person's recommendation would not have corrected our problem. He was very pleasant, on time, estimates were reasonable and the work was top notch. I would recommend

"My heat pump has been coding into emergency heat mode at an unusual frequency which caused my electrical bill to double. This started in 2011. I had 2 service providers come out on 4 different occasions to correct the problem. The said I needed a replacement part, that although under warranty the service was going to cost me $900. Both service providers told me the same thing. I mentioned it to the serviceman from
Chester HVAC Contractors Provider Name Locked
and he said that it could not be that because it would cause an issue with the air conditioning as well as the heating. He changed a jumper that was causing my unit to move into defrost to quickly.
My unit has been running quieter and my electric bill is back to normal. Not only was the service better, but it was the same as what I paid the other two companies each time they came out.

"When I got home from work yesterday, my furnace was not working. I called my home warranty company and placed a claim. This morning I still had heard nothing from the heating company, so I called again. Their local service provider couldn't get to us until tomorrow - more than 36 hours later. So, I called

and Cooling about 9:00 AM this morning and they came before noon, replaced the igniter and I now have heat!!! The lady that took my call was very nice, as was the repairman. The price was steep but for emergency service, its probably the going rate.
I have cancelled my home warranty with Cross Country Home Services. don't ever buy their coverage!

"The guys had a real challenge figuring out why we were having the problem with a top of the line fairly new system. They finally figured out that the thermostate was not the correct one to communicate with the system. On top of that, the ductwork was the original builder ductwork and was a mess - confusing, wrong sizes, and inadequate returns. ...more /> We now have mostly new ductwork, an additional return, automatic dampers and 2 new thermostats. I had no idea that they could create 2 zones (or as many as you want) from 1 system. The difference is amazing. I can't wait till next summer to compare the utility bills!
I have learned sooo much just talking to these guys. They can work on all kinds of old systems, like boilers, in the old historic homes and can do all kinds of restoration chimney work. These guys are not your "average" HVAC. They are true master technicians and artisans.

arrived a few minutes early. He was very thorough in checking the AC units, my intake filters, and my thermostats. He made adjustments as necessary, and added Freon to one unit. He also was willing to check my second unit at no additional cost. I thought he was very professional. He needed to use a small pointed object to open one of the filter grates. He asked if it would bother me if he pulled out a pocketknife to help him open the unit. I appreciated his concern that his actions could potentially be viewed as threatening and he made sure that it was all right before pulling out his pocketknife.

explained that he could fix plumbing problems, electrical problems, and perform whole house inspections. While at my house he attempted to fix a running toilet by cleaning the flapper in the tank. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the problem but I appreciate his willingness to try. This was completely extra effort and not part of my AC check!

"Not being familiar with gas heat, my wife and I felt more comfortable having the gas furnace checked by a knowledgeable service person before we turned it on for the approaching cold season. We took advantage of the special price on Angie's List and we got a call from the HVAC office shortly after completing the deal online. We arranged for an appointment the next afternoon. Two service techs arrived as scheduled and went right to work. Before leaving one of the techs helped me with the gas-log fireplace. The techs informed us of the maintenance they had performed and told us about the annual service contract that was available. We were very impressed with the service, attitude, and professionalism of the two technicians. I would feel comfortable using this company again and would highly recommend them.

"Excellent service. Have previously repaired our AC systems and did good work. For this service, we had purchased the $49 deal on Angie's List for a heater inspection. However, we called and scheduled that when our heater stopped working. We had already tried replacing the thermostat and it still didn't work. He showed up on time, very courteous. Discovered that we had accidentally turned the "switch" off (looks like a regular light switch, but on our system is in a really bad location and we easily bump it b/c we also use this closet for other storage. We didn't realize what this switch was for.) Technician thought that in conjunction with the switch, the control board was shorted so he put that on order and estimated it would be $300. For this trouble shooting, he only charged us the $49 inspection we had purchased on line. When he returned on a separate day with the control board and replaced that, it didn't fix the problem. He replaced the thermostat and that fixed the problem. He suspected that turning the "switch" off had shorted the original thermostat and the one we replaced ourselves. He did not charge us for the control board and did not charge us for labor because he felt it was his mistake for not catching the thermostat in the first place. Was very honest and upfront about what he found and would do. Will definitely use them again!
