Reviews for Chantilly Remodeling Contractors

"When our kitchen contractor failed to completely finish the job and left several major items undone, we hired Moss Design and Build to finish the job. For $499 we received 8 hours of handyman/electrical service. We ended up using the handyman for 5 hours and the electrician for 3 hours.
They both arrived right at 7:30 a.m. and got right to work. The handyman,
, sent me to Lowes for certain things he would need (materials are not included, just the labor). He was concerned about getting the job done correctly. Whereas, the kitchen contractor cut a jagged and unfinished notch in the top cabinet under the cooktop to clear the gas line,
finished it off and created a border that looks exactly like the back of the cabinet. He did the same for a crude notch cut in the second drawer as well. Now the drawers look as if the cutouts were part of the design and finished product.
He also cut a vent in a cabinet that holds TV equipment in the kitchen and installed a similar vent in the half wall on the other side so the hot air can vent into the family room. Until this was done, we had to leave open a cabinet door so the equipment did not overheat.
He caulked various areas where there were obvious gaps between the cabinets and baseboards and he installed a new faucet and mentioned that the faucet we had paid for with the remodel had not been installed correctly.
, the electrician, installed a GFI outlet on the far side of the kitchen island. The original contractor had installed one inside the cabinet under the sink, which made it impractical for use by any counter top appliance.
also fixed a wireless doorbell that wouldn't stop ringing and adjusted an outdoor security light so it stays on for ten minutes vice the one minute it had been set to. When he installed the outlet, he had to take out the microwave drawer and discovered that it had not been correctly installed so he did it right.
Both of these men were polite and professional. They didn't waste anytime and I definitely got 8 hours of work out of them.
It was a great experience after a not-so-great experience with our kitchen remodel and I'm very appreciative to Moss Design and Build for their professionalism and for completing a job someone else had failed to do.
I would most definitely use this company again.

"The guys were great. The company was honest and very easy to deal with. The roof repairs were much more than anticipated, but Moss was eager to work with us. Then the repairs weren't as much as the proposal and Moss was quick to let us know that the invoice would be much less than the proposal.

Chantilly Remodeling Contractors Reviews

"We had our kitchen completely renovated and are extremely pleased with the finished product. The project included a redesign of our kitchen to replace a peninsula with an island and to better incorporate the breakfast nook as a space for additional (shallow) cabinets; removal of unneeded soffits; installation of new cabinets, tile backsplash, flooring, lighting, and appliances; and painting. We love virtually everything about the new kitchen. We got multiple bids, and

was actually the lowest. We were also attracted by the concept of a fixed-price approach and were surprised to learn that we could get so much for (relatively speaking) so little. And we found a number of the people with whom we dealt to be very friendly and accommodating, with good ideas about how to tweak the design as things went along. Our only real complaints were that (1) they gutted our kitchen, then disappeared for a week; (2) they routinely failed to communicate their status and next steps as clearly as we had been

to expect; and (3) the project took considerably longer to start and, then, to finish than we had been told. That said, we didn't have the highest expectations of any contractor with regard to communication and punctuality, we're fairly flexible people, and (have I said this before?) we absolutely loved the changes in our kitchen. I have to add, though, that we recommended

to at least two other families who had much less pleasant experiences. I don't know whether this is symptomatic of a change in personnel or something else, but I hope the company can return to the form we experienced.
"The company contacted me immediately to establish a mutually convenient time to meet. We agreed to a meeting time that was about a month after initial contact. The designer assigned to me was punctual and professional. He developed a preliminary kitchen floor plan that showed creativity and knowledge of his profession. He was very thorough in his measurements and took his time to understand what my wife and I wanted from our new kitchen. At the end of his visit he went over his initial concept with us in order to provide an opportunity for feedback. He then told us we would receive the floor plans via email within a couple of weeks. (Note: He was willing to provide the floor plans sooner if desired, but we were ok with two weeks.) The floor plans arrived sooner than promised. The plans were generated to scale on a CAD system and included both original and new kitchen layouts. Cabinets, appliances, doors, lights, walls, windows, were all included. All in all, we were extremely pleased with the amount and quality of service we got for the money."

did an excellent job from start to finish. From sales to contractor, they are a professional company and stand by their work. This company is family ownded and run and could not be friendlier and more professional!!! We love our new bathroom and we would use

"The job went great. We were given an estimate and a completion date up front. The worker was quick and clean and minimized our inconvenience."

proved to be a pleasure to work with and proved that there are contractors out there that don't feel the need to take advantage. He was very personable, professional, and provided a very high level of quality with a highly competitive cost. He went beyond the nominal trades services by offering cost effective design suggestions, accepting additonal taks outside the original scope and taking a professional pride in seeing the project done properly. In essence, he was an advocate for the client.

met with us without delay and provided a contract for review within a few days. We requested estimates from three other contractors and

, in particular, produced high quality work. We are very happy with their results. Whenever we needed something adjusted or corrected, it was usually done on the spot if possible.

Although the homeowner continued to act as the electrical sub,
Chantilly Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
's crews were easy to work with and no trade was negatively affected.

Breaking of concrete slab and relocation of drains was done with a minimum of household disruption.

In addition to hanging, mudding and painting new drywall,

's crew cleaned up existing drywall that had be poorly mudded by the original builder. Trim and paint were well done. Single leaf doors were hung cleanly.

The tile work (2 days for shower surround and bathroom floor, 1 man) was very well done. Surfaces look even and grout lines are consistent with properly aligned tiles.

made suggestions to the bathroom layout that made much more sense than the original plan including adding a bench to the shower, placement of shower door, and placement of toilet.

Two subs were engaged: flooring and glass (for shower wall and mirror).
Chantilly Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
made recommendations for both which we pursued. The glass sub (

himself. When the glass shower wall pieces arrived, they were found to be 1/16" off despite

having measured it three times prior to ordering (the factory cut it wrong). He expedited replacement material with no impact to the schedule.

Flooring was provided by Carpet One,

made a personal visit to the site in Chantilly to show samples and take an order. We took the opportunity to replace the flooring on the second floor as well as floor the basement project.

was very knowledgeable and prepared the order with an estimate offered within a couple days.

The flooring installation, however, did have issues. Different teams installed laminate and carpet. The laminate team worked efficiently, but missed a few things including moulding, stairwell baseboard gaps, and transitions. However, they remedied those issues the day after notice by the homeowner. With one exception: a carpet / laminate transition was installed significantly out of true with the door frame in one case. The individual that came to remedy the missing moulding, etc, said there was nothing he could do about it; "the carpet was cut wrong." It's not clear which crew was at fault, but

showed up on time as promised, he was pleasant to work for, unobtrusive, got right to work and got the job done quickly and then cleaned up afterwards. He did so great that I hired him to completely redo a bathroom in another house. I will post on that as well."

did a wonderful job working with my wife and I. He was able to offer wonderful advise on how to make the project better by offering designs that would work better with the odd shap of our bathrooms. The

leveled the floor which took a lot of time and skill. In an effort to save me money, he found some sample granite counter tops and found a person to refinish the tub instead of replacing it. The total job should be completed in the next week, so I do not have photo's of the completed job at this time."
"The designer at
Chantilly Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
was outstanding I would give them an "a". The worker installed the counter did an outstanding job. At one time in the process, I almost got charged twice as more by the book keeper. Warn people to do the math also so they don't get over charged."
