came out a couple times to go over everything on site. He worked with us on adjusting the scope of the project to accommodate our budget. (We had a couple other estimates that came in higher for the same job and were less flexible with us.) I couldn't envision what he was describing, but my husband could, so we decided to move forward with the project.
After giving the go-ahead based on our meetings and the estimate provided, we scheduled a tentative date (earliest was 2 months out because of busy season), paid a deposit, but didn't hear anything back. (Contractors we have worked on other projects provided a confirmation for scheduling and work start date.) I called and followed-up two weeks prior to the tentative date we were given to ensure work was still on schedule (and was told that it was), then emailed again the day before because I hadn't heard anything since (and was told yes it was).
Everyone arrived on time for the start of the project, we reviewed what was being done, There were a few small items that my husband and I recalled being discussed on-site, but hadn't wound up in the estimate. We worked those items out over the course of the job.
Everything was executed quickly and efficiently. The crew that came out was polite and professional. There were a few changes to the yard since we had scheduled the work (dead tree, brush from the spring, etc) that was added onto the project. Everything was completed ahead of schedule (we had anticipated 2 days of work, it only took 1.5 days).
The end result wasn't what I expected (since I couldn't' picture it from the start) but it looks very nice. We have already received complements from our neighbors, and are already planning our next job with them.

I can't say enough good things about this company. They are not the cheapest, but they do quality work. They workers are punctual and tidy and do exactly what you want. When we eventually rip out the wooden deck, I will have them do a matching stone patio. It is a pleasure to work with

I wanted a place that knew about plants and how to plant them so they would thrive. I have clay soil, so I wanted them to make raised beds that would have some perennials and seasonal vegetables. Front yard is funny shaped because we are on the cul-de-sac in a subdivision. I'm an experienced gardener in another climate. I am getting too old to do all this myself.
In front, I wanted a

garden, bordered by liriope and smaller hemerocallis (monkey turf and daylilies). I had the roses planted already, and a native wisteria. I was thinking 1) pull up turf, 2) add compost to clay to create a better topsoil, and raise the bed level 3) mulch.
They chopped up the turf (I still find the green netting) and put down about 8 inches of mulch. They planted the liriope (they brought them) but not the daylilies (in pots, waiting in back). One of the little roses was buried. Another got chopped.
In back, three 4x4 raised beds were requested, with a drawing for where the plants should be installed. One raised bed would be "permanent" with a stacked rock perimeter.
The 2 beds that were just supposed to be piled amended soil ending up as places where turf was replaced by a thin

of mulch. No plants installed. The stone edged bed seems to have had nice soil added. Again, some mulch. It seemed like they did the front and then realized there was stuff to do in back too.
I had to take pictures and get them to come out again to get the beds "raised" and the plants installed. They installed them in the wrong places. They didn't dig holes big enough for the plants to develop roots in the new locations. The blueberry plants died. The echinacea they planted died (I had started some from seed that I installed last fall and this year it is great).
They advertise that they are plant people. But they are trying to make the money off the hardscape like all the others. The crews we got may as well have been hired at a street corner.

installed 5 slate-veneer stone retaining walls in our front yard and a 8-stepped stone staircase from our driveway to back yard totaling $7,260; and provided a landscape plan and executed the plan with trees and plants totaling $6,391 for a total of $13,651. ...More />

Our sense was that
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
used their staff for the landscaping portion, but jobbed out the hardscape portion to another contractor.

Initially we were pleased with the landscaping, although our major requirement was that the plantings be no to low maintenance was not followed. In fact, the extensive use of carpet roses, for example, require a significant amount of maintenance throughout the spring and summer. Per the contract agreement, the plants that died within the first year were satisfactorily replaced.

The major issue we have is with the quality of the work and the lack of quality of the materials used for the hardscapes. Problems emerged within the first year with major cracks developing in the retaining walls that required major excavation and replacement of portions, yet, the walls have again cracked (see photos). Additionally, the top capped slates of the walls have razor-sharp edges and many of them have fallen off (see photos).

The worst problem has been with the most expensive part of the hardscape job - the staircase, (see photos). Within the first year, water seepage from an unknown source started leaving lime traces all over the lower stairs. Apparently, no drainage was ever provided for any accumulated water under the stairs. Also, the concrete mixed on site was apparently poorly done. According to 5 other hardscape contractors (which have reviewed the job over the years, the consensus is that the mortar that was used was mixed improperly and has not been able to provide adequate adhesion of the stones on the steps and fascia. At this time, the stairway is totally a hazard and can't be safely used.

We have sought estimates from other contractors, as well as

Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
sent a new management employee on April 16 to our home to review the hardscape problems and to give us an estimate of the repair/replacement costs.. He said that he was visiting a number of jobs previously done by
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
that were in need of repair or replacement. He promised us an estimate within a week, and stated that
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
"Welcomed the opportunity to make the job right and to do it correctly", which we were glad to hear. We understood that there would likely be costs to us that we were willing to pay, so we weren't looking for a free job. What really amazed us, is after several additional calls and promises that an estimate would be provided, yet to receive any response.

Based on our latest experience with
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, they seem to lack any desire to deliver a quality product.

Pros: Landscape designer did an excellent job (
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
) and was very knowledgeable and professional.
The crews that came both times now worked hard and did quality work. Some of the shrubs/plants we good quality.
Cons: The first crew came when there was still some snow on the ground, it was clear the nursery was anxious to get the crews to work.
Several of the new plants they brought were not in great condition (and subsequently look really bad a month later despite appropriate watering.) The sod they originally brought was so poor they decided to take it back up after putting it down.
I was never contacted (twice now) to schedule the remaining work, you have to call them. Then you get added on the schedule (apparently not as a priority to complete work already started). Currently I have to wait a month for them to come back and plant the shrubs not available the prior times and to replace the ones that are essentially dead due primarily due to their initial condition.
Advice: Inspect all the plants/shrubs and sod prior to them putting anything in (ask for replacements if not high quality).
Be proactive, call immediately if job not complete to schedule follow up work.
Comments: I expect everyone's experience is different depending on what they have done.
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
could dramatically improve its customer service by having someone do day after follow up calls for customer satisfaction and/or have a supervisor come right after the work to inspect with customer and take corrective actions on a priority basis. It is poor business practice to make customers call to have incomplete work scheduled. Also,
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
could improve their service by having the designer provide a list of names and extension numbers of people to contact about installation questions/status.

From the design process to the completion of the project, this company kept us well informed, provided updates when needed, allowed me to ask tons of questions and the entire crew remained professional through final completion. We have had so many (I mean just about every contractor we've had) bad experiences contracting work, this was such a wonderful project! We sit on our front porch much more than we did before when it was just builder grade. The entire team was fantastic, however I must acknowledge the crew that was there everyday working on that walkway and the walls; they were always pleasant, very respectful, never left tools in the yard and we could really tell they were proud of their work and the finished project! They were amazing with attention to detail; we just love our front entrance now!!

I found Meridian through their Landscape Designer,
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
, who served as our designer and project coordinator.
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
served as our interface with Meridian and was on site daily. Meridian created a beautiful landscape in front of our home, installed a PA fieldstone wall which is set in mortar, planted bushes, a crepe

Provider performed mite/insect control application per the program. He inspected the dogwood and applied a treatment a fungicide at no charge. A company representative called me the next day to tell me about the condition of the dogwood and the treatment.

Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
and one other guy arrived early to
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
the mulch (and, it's very cold out.) They brought much more than many of the "big" names around here have ever brought before, so it's nice and thick. And again, as before, they did more than asked. He even raked my yard. $217 for two guys for four hours plus materials? So, I gave them an extra $30 cash for lunch. I asked them to call me in the spring.

"Superior" as always! This job, although smaller than other landscaping projects
Chantilly Landscapers Provider Name Locked
has done over the last 6 or so years, was completed as requested. I was very pleased with their "attention to detail" on this project and the finished product was picture perfect. Larger jobs in the past included installation of a French drain, a large stone patio with wall, plus several large trees were planted. All work exceeded my expectations. A number of people over the last few years have complimented the work and asked who did it. I've gladly recommended this company to all. Everything is discussed up front and the prices are very reasonable. The owner of this company retains a permanent work force that is extremely efficient and knowledgeable in what they do. They have an excellent web site that shows a collection of their projects.
