"We contacted
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
about finishing our 650 sq. ft. basement. 1. The tile job in the newly framed (by
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
) bathroom was uneven and a high percentage of the accent tile was chipped and uneven/wavey. 2. We asked the owner to have his tiler remove the tile and replace it with another accent tile. 3.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
had their worker remove the accent tile to replace it with a less difficult to install accent tile. The worker used the new $250 ceiling fan as an exhaust fan for particulate dust removal (exhaust fan). The fan still blows dust on guests who visit and use our bathroom. 4. The tile-worker began installing the new accent tile and we noticed that the backing for the colored glass tile was chipping. We questioned how this repair would look but went with it because we believed that the adhesive would fill-in the chipped areas on the back of the tile and that it would be minimally noticeable. 5. During the same accent tile repair timeframe, we noticed that a high percentage of the wall tiles in the bath, which is tiled on all four walls, were offset and not set level to the wall. We were wondering, how, on a brand new wall, tiles could be set uneven. 6. We informed
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
about the (1) ruined accent tile, (2) novice quality work on much of the tile in the whole bathroom and, (3) the use and continued decreased value and performance of the ceiling fan that was used as a particulate exhaust fan. 7. After realizing that continued repairs because of inadequate quality craftsmanship ended up perpetuating a cycle of subpar repairs, we decided to ask
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
for $1000 off the total bill of $27,200 and just asked him to leave although there were many other repairs of newly installed items that I knew I would have to repair myself. 8. Currently, after several visitors have viewed our finished basement, we have come to the realization that the bathroom's embarrassingly uneven and chipped tile work is a repair that would cost 5,000-10,000 dollars (another contractor's estimate was $4000 for shower only). While I know how to undertake many small construction projects on my own, I had no idea that the cost of legitimate repairs to the sub-par tile work in the bath would cost the exorbitant amounts that I recently found, and had quoted. 9. A main wall of the basement is crooked. the wall is off-line 3 inches within a 4 foot span! 10. The newly installed shower control is hooked up wrong. The hot is hooked up to the cold feed and the cold is hooked up to the hot feed. This is behint the horribly installed tile wall. 11.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
knew that they were getting off easy by refunding $1000. Not only were there issues with tile and ceiling fan but, the vanity was installed incorrectly (
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
made excuses for their crew's method of installation and was not truthful about reasons for the incorrect installation).
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
also blamed the incorrect installation of the vanity on our choice of vanity brand. They claimed that the vanity brand caused them to install it so the drawers would not open...as they rammed into the door trim after opening a few inches! the newly framed walls are crooked and there is a short in the (new) shower light.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
would like to enter our house to continue repairs but this is a no-go. I will not let them back in for repairs of their new work. I would like them to pay for repairs so professionals can do the work.

"We just moved from
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
Michigan a few months ago and didn't know who to hire. We contacted
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
in the Connection newspapers where
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
came out offered us several selections and we were allowed to bring or items to mix. The crews were excellent, clean, and a joy having in the house. They finished both bathrooms in just 9 days! I couldn't believe how organized everything was. We will be doing a kitchen next year and I will be calling if they are not too busy! I highly recommend

installed 4 flush-mount light fixtures, one track-light type light fixture in the kitchen, installed a new ceiling fan and rewired a box to a 2-gang box (and patched up any drywall holes), rewired another ceiling fan to separate the light and fan switches, and did some minor troubleshooting around the house. They did the work much faster than I thought and covered pretty much everything on my long list of things to do. They finished early enough to clean everything up (vacuumed and sweeped). I had low expectations and wasn't sure if they'd get everything done on my list, but they exceeded by expectations, and the house looks completely different (in a good way). I would highly recommend

and

for any electrical work.
The only reason I gave Bs for punctuality and responsiveness was because there wasn't much follow-up after we had scheduled the appointment a month ago. Also, although they gave a courtesy call saying they'd be late, they showed up a little later than that. However, these are minor things. The work they did was great.

"The team did an amazing job in my basement. They were on-time, on-buget, fast (did it all in one day) and I completely trusted them in my home. I have used them twice in the last 3 months (on an outside project and the one for my basement). They are so responsive and so easy to work with. I highly recommend them.

"The work crew arrived on time and immediately laid down protection over the wood floors from the entry way to the kitchen; in the kitchen they covered everything from the top of the cabinets down in plastic for great protection. From here they expertly removed all the damaged ceiling and squared of the edges to put up new sheet rock. Once the new sheetrock was in place it was plastered to match the rest of the ceiling; unless you knew what you were looking for you can’t see the repair. Then came the cleanup, which took all of five minutes thanks to their great prep work."

"This was a Horrible experience which has left my house in worse shape than when the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived on site. I have never seen such disrespect for a client's home by a contractor. I now know more about how not to build than I ever wanted to know.
After signing the contract and providing 50% down (20K+) for the renovation work to be done, we were told work would begin within 3 weeks on March 4. At the request of the contractor, we moved everything out of the bedroom, bathroom and attic so work could begin. During the afternoon of March 1, we received a call that the tiles had not been ordered when payment was received and their would be a 3-4 week delay. We were assured that much of the work could be done in advance of the tiles and that we would get a revised schedule the following week.
After repeatedly asking for a revised schedule, we insisted that the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
come over to give us a revised plan, the first week of April. Agreed to a new date for the work to begin with the understanding that the work had to be finished by the end of May. To facilitate the end of May deadline we agreed to purchase an off the shelf vanity with a commitment that the wall custom wall cabinet would be made to match.
First day on job in mid-April, the lead carpenter arrived an hour late, when I mentioned that I thought he was going to arrive at 8:30 he screamed that I had no right to question when he would be coming and going in my house. I called the company's owner who assured me that it would not happen again. All seemed to be back on track for the demolition phase.
In the building phase there was always a reason for why a wall seemed crooked (my level must have gone bad), the floor, which had been level now seemed to be slanting and the subway and custom glass tiles were not being installed evenly and all the cut tiles had jagged edges. The pebble shower floor was not sloped correctly and we had pooling in multiple places. The threshholds at the corner of the shower did not match up and attempts to clean it up after the frameless glass shower walls were installed made it worse.

The door to the bathroom was hung too high and at an angle so that one could see into the bathroom and angled across the threshold when it was shut. Once clothes were hung on the closet rod in the walk in closet, the rod fell to the ground leaving gaping holes in the wall and our clothes covered with drywall dust. Throughout the whole experience with the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
, we were faced with dry wall dust throughout our house. Although we were assured that the crew would sweep through every day and limit the mess to the area in which they were working, this was not the case. We had dry wall dust in our ventilation system, chunks of drywall dropping and left on our daughters bed and office equipment when they needed to cut through her ceiling to pull electrical wires.

When the protective floor covering was pulled up in our bedroom the tape pulled up parts of the floor. After unsuccessfully trying to sand and stain the section of floor new boards were put in. Unfortunately they were a different species of wood. When I mentioned my concern to the subcontractor, I was yelled at and told he was doing me a favor by doing the work.
The custom wall cabinet was initially installed crooked and had mismatched wood. It was only at our insistence that it was re-done to match the vanity.
Only after providing the lead carpenter with the industry standard for glass tiles did they remove the glass tiles and begin again. After three installations by the carpenter/tiler the finished product was still less than satisfactory. Throughout the process, the contractor/owner of the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was no where to be seen and only showed up on site after multiple texts and emails.
Due to out of town guests arriving work ceased on the project in the middle of June for 3 weeks and was to be begun again the week after
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
4th weekend. When the owner of the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived on the 5th to go through the punch list, he contemplated the 50+ item list and said he would get back to us with a timeline for completion. On the 7th he indicated that his team was not able to deliver the quality of work we wanted and walked off the job saying he would refund us our money. It took 30 days and over 10% of the project cost to arrive at a signed settlement agreement which did nothing more than was already agreed to verbally. At no point did we seek damages, we just wanted our house to be repaired.
We have hired another contractor to assess what needed to be done to complete the job. Upon analysis we discovered major safety concerns, and the necessity to take the whole project back to the studs. The attic stairs had been installed with dry wall screws and missing the safety screw per the manufacturers instructions, the floor joists under the bathroom had been cut to install the new toilet but not re-secured properly. At some point the toilet could have fallen through the floor. Electrical work had non insulated wires behind walls, into junction boxes and were not stapled per code. Sockets were angled out of walls. Support studs to the roof had been cut to accommodate plumbing for the sink and not re-enforced. A hole had been cut into the attic space to fit plumbing and never repaired. Instead the vanity was put in place to hide it. We discovered this when the bees entered our bedroom through the passageway. The plumbing was exposed and run into the attic wall without any insulation to protect it from changes in weather.
The shower
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was not pre-pitched per manufacturer instructions and the floor backer board was not installed with mortar under the shower
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. The shower basin was not sealed properly and the drain was installed at an angle which would lead to water leakage and mold which began to appear in the corners of the shower after a the few weeks of use in June. Fiber glass seam tape was not used on the majority of the backer board in the walls and floor of the shower.
Insufficient insulation and in some instances no insulation was used between the living space and the attic. Nor was it stapled in place per the manufacturers instructions. This caused the HVAC vents to weep incessantly and damage the paint finish. Drywall had been installed without taping or properly attaching to the studs. To hide poorly constructed and bowed walls, the door frames were built out with wood putty and in one case the pre-hung door was attached to dry wall rather than a stud in the wall. These stain grade doors are no longer stainable.
The frameless glass shower walls were cut at an angle to hide the crooked walls built by the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
. We are now having to purchase new glass because it is not reusable. We just discovered that the shower vent was installed too far away from the shower and thus non-compliant per the county inspector.
The shower panel shower head installed by the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was stripped during the installation. We are trying to determine if it is reusable. Now that the floor joists are repaired, the floor will be level again, our new contractor is repairing the modifications the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
made to the vanity to hide the uneven floor caused by the severed joist and poorly installed tiles.
Our new contractor is close to repairing all of the damage that was done in the course of the previous renovation, replacement floors, tiles, glass and doors have been ordered and and we are now beginning to see the promise of the beautiful bathroom that we envisioned when we invited the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to work on our home. There are many more issues wiht the work
that was done and the lackadaisical attitude of the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
that are not listed here. Rather than list them in detail, let me simply encourage any one considering using the Handy
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
to consider our experience with the company.

"We had numerous estimates for this job.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the most expensive but seemed to be a perfectionist (as I am) so we chose his company. The experience was wonderful beginning with Rosie setting up the appointment to
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
's visit for the estimate, to the crew's doing the work.
We had a leak in upstairs bathroom and drywall had to be cut in ceiling and wall to repair a plumbing issue.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
arrived to give the estimate punctually. He noted the work that needed to be done. He told us exactly what we needed to move to have the rooms ready as well as what his painters would move (the larger pieces of furniture). We accepted his bid and Rosie scheduled us in a timely manner.
The drywall was repaired and the painting was completed with the perfection I anticipated. The crew was very polite and worked diligently. The results were superior. In our opinion, this company was well worth the money. We would hire them again in a second.

"They were prompt, respectful and professional. They did a great job on the bathroom and even though it took slightly longer to repair than the contractor originally anticipated, he remained true to his original quote for the work performed. I would definitely use them again!

"Before I purchased the deal, I tried to get a clearer idea of what they would be able to finish in the 16 man-hours included, but it was actually not easy to get a response, including after I bought the deal. They did a decent job--actually, they did a very good job painting the ceiling, but I had the following issues with the rest of the paint job:...more /> (1) they painted over the vents and the outlets; I wouldn't have thought it was necessary to tell professional painters to tape over that or remove the outlet covers, or at least ask me what my preference was;
(2) they cleaned the rollers in my newly refinished bathtub, and I had to clean off remaining paint and drywall dust;
(3) generally, there was a lot of dust generated that remained (for example, they didn't cover the overhead light or clean it, and it was covered in dust).
That's pretty much it. I'd sum it up by saying that I'm pleased with the job but not with the attention to detail or cleanup.

"This project went wonderfully. We found
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
on Angie's List.
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
had great recommendations and was totally responsive to our ideas. After discussing our budget, he whipped up *multiple* computer designs and patiently discussed with us all of our options. Once we selected our design,
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
and his team (we always saw the same guys) started demo and structure rehab right away. We had a brand new kitchen in about 2.5 weeks from demo!
Alexandria Drywall Contractors Provider Name Locked
met with us regularly throughout the process and directly addressed any concerns or questions we had. And, it looks amazing. Thanks,
