"I chose Dr.
after reading several positive reviews about his services from various sources. This was my first visit with him. He did a" thorough examination, and I was only waiting a few minutes after signing in for the appointment. Ultimately, everything went well.

Ophthalmology

Quite literally meaning "the science of the eyes." ophthalmology studies the way the eye works. Ophthalmologists care for this incredibly complex and delicate part of the body and the factors that affect its health.

A growing number of people are buying prescription glasses online. Some advice — and cautions —if you plan to browse frames and lenses sans the store.

Blurred or lost vision may be signs of a potential eye ailment, but some rare diseases that can cause blindness can only be detected with an examination.

Absolutely you have rights to your own medical records. You may have to put it in writing and go through the offices records department. Call and ask to speak with the records department and ask their protocol.

They were convenient and nice. They did a good job with my eyes. I had an eye infection once and they were able to treat me. I typically wait maybe 10 minutes to be seen when I arrive.

I have power of attorney fpr my Mom and accompanied her to her appointment with Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
. He is the only retinal specialist in
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
. Appointments can, and typically do, require up to 4 hrs of your time (which is told to you ahead of time).
Some of the staff lack customer service skills and are outwardly rude. A few staff are their saving grace by trying hard to establish rapport and provide personable care.
Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
is rushed and appears not to want to take the time to field questions or help the patient understand his condition and treatment. He lacks a positive bedside manner and displays an arrogant demeanor.
I was very disappointed in how he interacted with my Mom and me. Several comments he made were either inaccurate and/or irrelevant to her situation. I'm now researching other retinal specialists for my Mom because our overall experience has caused my Mom and me to wonder about his priorities because of the following:
Medicare paid over $2000 for the eye injection he administered to my Mom. That makes one wonder if the decision to provide this treatment is done out of the patient's best interest or the doctor's, especially since this treatment may call for injections every 4 - 5 weeks for up to 2 years, with the primary goal of maintaining current 20/50 vision level, and a small
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
of improvement in that vision level. For approximately 5 minutes of patient/MD interaction per visit, Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
would pocket over $48,000 over 2 years of treatments, while the patient has no guarantee that the treatment regimen will have any positive effect on his current vision level.

When my two sons and I arrived at Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
's office in Irvington, we sat in the waiting room until called into different examination rooms. Without my specific authorization or prior knowledge of need or cost, an excessive number of tests on various machines began to be administered to all three of us. The testing was taking a long time and my patience was being exhausted, especially since my husband was waiting outside for us in the car. Complaining to the assistants supervising the tests, I objected to the need for all of the tests. It got to a point in which I stood up during one of my tests in progress and announced my refusal to take any more tests. When I asked to see the eyeglasses, I was informed that the person managing eyeglasses was not there. Additionally, no contact lenses satisfying the doctor’s prescriptions for my sons were available!

Many months went by until I learned that Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
had submitted a claim of over $700 in charges to Medicare and to my supplemental insurance company for services rendered to me. In reviewing Medicare’s report, I noted at least one test that was not administered. Furthermore, symptoms noted, such as dizziness, as the reason for certain tests were news to me! The doctor received his allowable claim payment and later billed me for the $147 that insurance didn’t pay.

Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
also submitted similar charges to my son’s insurance carriers, but with the date of service being different for each and incorrect for both.

Before reporting this alleged “farce” to the appropriate authorities, I wanted to review our medical records in order to verify certain dates and to ensure accuracy. Therefore, I made numerous written and telephonic requests to the offices of Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
requesting a copy of our records. During one of my calls to his South Plainfield office, I was advised by someone named
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
that Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
was handling my request, but when I asked to speak with him personally, I was told that he was out of the country. (I asked
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
for her/his last name, but was refused that information.) The phone call ended with my mention of two concerns: 1) the 30-day requirement to satisfy written requests for medical records and 2) my suspicion of alleged fraudulent claims. Shortly after that call, I received a call from Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
who apparently was not out of the country. Initially, the Dr. was full of excuses and complained about the time it would take for him to write summaries of my medical records, but at the end of our conversation he said that I would receive my records soon. It’s been over 3-months since my initial request, but I still haven’t received the records. It's my understanding that Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
is in violation of the NJ Administrative Code, regulated by the NJ State Board of Medical Examiners, which requires medical records to be delivered within 30-days of a patient's written request.

Specifically as to the effectiveness of treatment, Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
diagnosed one of my sons with a stigma in one eye. However, examination by another ophthalmologist reported none even after I questioned the findings. The Dr. diagnosed a cataract on one of my eyes during an earlier vision examination. At the time, he advised that I see him again in six months because the cataract looked like it was close in time to being “ripe” for surgical removal. However, at my next visit, the Dr. reported to me that the cataract was not even close to being ripe.
I reserve drawing any conclusions regarding this matter until I can at least obtain my medical records requested from Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
.

He gave me the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. Went over the
variables involved with my situation. Everything was OK at that time,
but a month later I had to return with another problem and he diagnosed a
retinal tear. He and his staff rushed me down the hall to a retinal
specialist who did surgery right away. This type of concern and response
is refreshing. Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
does a great job and you should consider him
for your eye needs

I have worn glasses my whole life. In the last few years my vision has deteriorated and I am having some dificulty. I saw Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
who I must say was exceptional. Attentive, listens, thorough and an exceptional bedside manner. He explains things well and makes the patient feel at ease. He is the best Opthamologist I have seen to date and I have seen many. I will definately refer freinds and family to him.
As for the office setup and staff I must say I was impressed. The office was busy ahd the staff was quick and well organized.

It was great. I would highly recommend him. He took time, explained everything. I originally going to him for a second opinion on my eyes for a possible cataract surgery. He was honest and suggested that I didn't need surgery. He was great.

I had the first of 3 or 4 planned eye surgeries with Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
in Sept., 2014, and had additional appointments scheduled. Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
had a health issue and was cancelling various appointments for several months, leading to a lengthy leave of absence. Although Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
knew well in advance that he would have to cancel all of his appointments for at least the entire month of November, 2014, he delayed notifying his patients until shortly before their appointments and wrote that it was due to an unforeseen circumstance. His office refused to re-schedule my appointments with Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
, did not refer me to another eye surgeon, and offered me only an office visit with his Physician's Assistant. This delay prevented me from completing my
surgeries and improving my vision in 2014. I will pay thousands of dollars for an additional insurance deductible in 2015.
Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
's delay in notifying me and his failure to refer me for appropriate care elsewhere were just two examples of a poorly run office and lack of consideration for the patient. Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
diagnosed me with a rare
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
disease, explained it, and instructed me to sign up for surgery; I asked for written information on the disease and the surgical procedure, but they
said that there was no patient information. His employee sent me to purchase a $108 prescription which I did not need, and I have never opened the bottle. I posted a question in his online Message Center about my medications, but no one responded. They gave me printed post-op instructions to use an eye medication but did not warn that it would cause blurry vision; when I contacted Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
's office to report my blurry vision, a tech gave me medical advice that was different from what Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
wanted me to do. When Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
wanted to check my post-surgical eye again in 4 weeks, the scheduler couldn't get me in before 6 weeks. After Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
cancelled my appointments, I requested that my records be sent to another ophthalmologist and to me; the records were not sent in a timely manner, and they charge 50 cents per page to give patients their own records. My usual time in the waiting room was 45 minutes to 1 hour with additional waiting time in the dilation and
exam rooms for a total of 2-1/2 to 3 hour office visits. A sign says to notify the receptionist if you have been waiting for longer than 15 minutes, but they don't do anything about it.
Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
is a knowledgeable physician. He provided me with excellent advice and surgery for which I am grateful. I would be willing to overlook many of the inconveniences at his office in order to receive his expert care. However, the way that Dr.
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
treated me when he had a personal health issue
Paris Ophthalmologists Provider Name Locked
me to believe that he had priorities other than my best eye care, and I could no longer trust him. I do not know the nature of his health issue or how it has affected his ability to take care of his
patients in the past, at present, or in the future.
