"I left a voice message several days before the work was done. i received a call the next day to schedule an estimate, and
came over right" away. He honored the Angie's list coupon, which I presented after the estimate was given. I told him that I had one more company coming in a few days to give an estimate Their estimate was $250 dollars higher, so I called
back and gave him the go ahead. He had said that a spot just opened up, so we scheduled for the next day. The workers showed up promptly at the scheduled time after calling ahead. They explained all that they were going to do and proceeded with the work, which they completed in a few hours. They were very friendly and professional. The lead worker made suggestions for work I could do myself on a few smaller trees on the property. They did a great job and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. This is the second time I used them. Next time I'll hire them without getting other estimates.

"Good cheap cost. The owner was terribly abusive toward his workers, swearing and yelling all the time at them. We felt so sorry that people had to work under thise" conditions. Once they got the equiptment on my property, they left it, even when task was completed. I think they wanted free advertisment. Clean up was rather shoddy. Would never have
back again.

Hiring to trim trees? A how-to guide

Follow these tips to find a tree service that will clip with care and leave you with dollars for the rest of your landscape.

Tree Care and Services

Trees grow slowly so you can't afford to make a mistake by planting them in the wrong location or overlooking something that puts the tree at risk. Tree care is something most homeowners can do on their own, but an expert should be called if a tree is showing signs of disease or if limbs need to be removed.

Removing a tree is the most expensive service, and typically includes cutting it down section by section, then hauling away the pieces. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Kathleen L. of Keizer, Ore.)

I would strongly suggest sending your neighbors a certified letter stating that, per your earlier conversation, you consider this tree to be a hazard due to its proximity to the power lines.  Then, when and if something bad does happen, you will have a record of having informed them of it and they won't be able to say "we didn't know."

You say the county has told you it is the neighbor's problem.  Did you contact the local electric company?  They should care very much about the situation.

I would also recommend taking lots of pictures showing the proximity of the tree to the wires and that it is obviously dead.

Dead trees do sometimes stay vertical for a very long time, but it sounds like a tense situation for you.  I understand your desire to not inflame the situation, but it doesn't sound like there is anything more you can do that won't have the potential to do so.  So it becomes your responsibility to look after your own interests in the most reasonable way possible.

For my money, never ? I do a walk-around yearly in the summer (when easy to work on and before the heavy fall winds in our area) and look for trees with dead crowns, losing branches everywhere but at the crown, brown branches (evergreens) or leafless branches, leaning trees, trees with visible rot, trees with major bark loss, trees with seriously damaged or eroded away roots, etc. If none of those symptoms, then I call our 100 or so trees good for the year.

Of course, the bigger the trees and the likelihood of house damageor powerline loss (especially in winter) if there is a major branch or tree fall comes into play also. I trim and cut my own trees when needed regardless of size, so my level of confidence in being able to handle anything comes into it.

If you are worried about one or more trees, call an arborist to check them out - then I would say unless there is evidence of damage - ESPECIALLY leaning trees or major branches not leafing like the rest of the tree - I would not worry having them looked at more frequently than every 10 years or so.

Very well. The work was done safely, competently, and completely, and the yard was cleaned up each day - better than it was before the work began, actually.

I purchased a house with seriously overgrown landscaping that included a *very* wide variety of plants and trees. I hired
New Boston Tree Services Provider Name Locked
to get everything back under control and was amazed at his knowledge and diligence. He identified plants that were at the end of their life span that should be removed instead of pruned, did an awesome job of getting plants back under control without killing them (some needed 3/4 or more of their size removed) and spent quite a bit of his time identifying plants for me, giving me tips on how to care for them and suggestions for changes that would make things easier to manage. Despite being in the middle of a large landscaping job and having an unexpected illness at home, he still fit me in.

showed up on a Saturday morning and removed our tree. It took about 20 minutes. Then, the workers proceeded to lounge around under our next door neighbor's tree, eating their lunch. Our neighbor politely asked them to move off of her property. They refused, and started a fight with our neighbor. My husband asked the workers to move off of the neighbor's property, and they still would not. It was a horrible, embarrassing scene, with shouting and things being thrown, and I will never get over how awful it was. I wrote a letter to the company about this terrible incident, and they did nothing. I did not even get a response, much less any kind of apology. Just a

apology would have gone such a long way. All someone said on the phone when I called for the 3rd time to report the incident was, "This has never happened before". This provider advertises good customer service, but please do not believe it! This company provided us with the WORST customer service I have ever experienced. You could not pay me to ever hire this company again. Please do not use this company. There are lots of tree removal services out there.

was very professional and did excellent work. He showed up when he said he would for both the estimate and work completion. Clean up was excellent, he had me do a walk around to be sure I was satisfied with the work and clean up.

trimmed up the pine trees in the back and brought the branches to the front to go into the chipper. They checked with me several times to make sure the trees were being pruned as I wanted which was appreciated. When they finished in the backyard they went around front to help the rest of the crew. As they raked up the smaller branches I was delighted to see them go out of their way to include some of the leaves. By 9:15 they were finshed and my trees looked great!

In 2014 a new lawn manager was hired. In 2014 the service was erratic and poor. I called several times and service improved somewhat. In 2013 the service was excellent.
