"It took awhile for the screens and lock to come after initial meeting. But they phoned and told us there was a problem getting the lock for our older
" windows. When they did come they were polite, and carefully showed us how to take the screens in and out. These were screens with a stronger frame and mesh than we had had. One of our cats was able to bend the old
screens and get outside. I was worried that one of the cats might lean against the screen while sunbathing and fall out. These screens fit perfectly and are much stronger. I was very happy with the service. The other provider we contacted wanted to sell us all new windows, so this saved us several thousand dollars. We will definitely use Window Wizard again.

"We interviewed 3 window companies. We liked
Weil who came to our house to give his presentation. (He is also the CEO of the company.) He" did not pressure us or use any gimmicks to sell us on his windows. He also called us the next day to see if we had any questions. (We did.)
pricing was in line with our other estimates. Another reason we liked
was the team that came out to install our windows. Mr. Materka is the window supervisor and is always present at the installation. He is also the person that comes out to measure all the windows. We liked this consistency. He and his assistant,
, were both a pleasure to work with and we felt that we were in good hands. We always talked to a person when we called the office and all of our questions were answered on a timely basis. We would definitely use
again.

?

Hello - I hope my answer will help point you in the right direction.

The reason you're having a hard time getting clear information is because there are hundreds of companies saying their window is the best. There are probably millions of different features you can choose to have for your windows and in price ranges from $169-$1200 (per double-hung window).

I've been in the business for 15 years and have seen many different window products from many different dealers and manufacturers. This all comes down to: "what's important for you and your home?" If you want a strong warranty from a company who has a full-time service department to give you piece of mind and service your windows should needs be, or are you looking at only those companies who offer true wood interior windows that you can paint or stain to match the home decor? Whatever is your hot-button, then that's where you want to start.

I would recommend you first choose how you want your new windows to look. Wood-interior with vinyl clad is only offered by certain companies, while there is a vinyl woodgrain finish to give you similar results without the maintenance. If you're only looking for a white interior and don't want the maintenance, a fiberglass or vinyl window would be the best choice from what is offered in the market today (vinyl will be less expensive - not necessarily cheaper quality). If you are going to change out a window to a french door and a door to a window, then you WILL NEED to find a contractor with some carpentry experience. Some companies will tell you upfront that they do not handle those sorts of remodeling projects due to the complexity and time it would take to get it complete.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to personally help you with your project as we work in the New England Area. However, if you wish to talk further, please feel free to email me at: sven@ritewindow.com and I'll be happy to let you know our prices for what we offer so you can compare and hopefully find a similar company to do the work for you near the Austin area.

Cheers!

Get your roofer back out there.  Course of shingles above the window need to be pulled, self sealing flashing, drip caps, and counter and step flashing are going to be required here.

This is a flashing issue as the window connects to the mansard roof surface.

Condensation and a leak are two different and very noticeably different (i.e. volume) things.

Flashing and roofing on Mansards can be tricky but is sounds very much like a roofing issue.

?

+1

Much easier to scratch and typically not as good a finished quality as compared to glass.

Benefits are the resistance to breakage as mentioned by LCD.  Any glazing shop should be able to re-create that panel.

?

For a broken window (or leaking seal in multi-pane unit), for a standard roughly 2x3 foot window, can run from low of about $75-125 for single pane to more like $200-300 range for triple pane, depending on construction and any special ultraviolet or heat reflective coatings. If a removeable window unit, of course cheaper to remove it and take to replacement glass place then have them come out, measure glass size, order glass unit, then come back to install.

If taking in yourself, commonly they can do single-pane in an hour or two, but count on a week or so typically for sealed double or triple pane unit to come in, so you will have to seal the opening in the interim. That is an advantage of having them come out - they measure and determine type of unit on first visit and can seal with tape and plastic sheeting (if you have not already done that), then come back with new unit and install a week or two down the road - but you are not stuck with an opening in the wall for a long time.

?

Thermal numbers look okay when looking at the NFRC.

Do you have any other data on them?  Air infiltration, Design Pressure, Visible Transmittance, and Condensation Resistance are all good evaluators.

http://www.mercuryexcelum.com/images/customer-files/Advantage.pdf

Air infiltration rate is way high at 0.21.

It may look nice in person but the performance numbers are below average.

Due to our windows deteriorating we decided to put in new triple pane windows. We contacted a number of window companies and had numerous estimates. Almost every company that came to give us an estimate told us that their windows were the best on the
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, they also had special deals if we signed that day.

Mn came and gave us an estimate and of course told us about the product and then with no pressure just left and said to call them if we wanted them to do the work. We contracted with them a few days later. They said the windows would be delivered in about 5 or 6 weeks. It took a week longer than expected but we were not in a hurry. They called and gave us a weeks notice for installation date. The workers showed up on time and were very friendly. Watching them work you could tell that they were experts at window installation. After completion of the install, they walked us around to make sure were were satisfied with the work. They cleaned us any mess they made outside and they were very careful not to make a mess inside during the install. I would recommend this company to anyone considering replacing windows in their home.

First, we discovered that we had been lied to. Window Works does not manufacture their own windows. They are a distributor for Vista Window Company based in Ohio. Window Works is in Illinois! We left the sticker from the manufacturer on the windows to prove it. The salesman lied about manufacturing the windows themselves.
Second, 5 of the windows had streaks of purple glue dried on the inside of the double pane glass from the factory. The Window Works Installation Inspector told us that they would replace the sashes with the glue in about three weeks. That remains to be seen.
Third, the biggest concern is that the village inspector failed the entire job because every window has major gaps between the sash and the frame. The gaps are so wide that you can see daylight through them. These windows are worse than what we had before which were original to the house (built 1975). They also forgot to caulk one of the seams outside.
Buyer beware. These people are dishonest.

We hired
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
to remodel our shower. The size of the shower that was in the contract supposed to be installed was a 75X53. When installation began, it took two days to gut the old shower. On the third day, new framing was placed and wood for the flooring inside the shower system was put down and the shower
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
was placed inside the shower. We then realized the shower that was going to be installed was going to be a 64X47. When asking why the shower was smaller, we were informed that it was due to the manufacture not being able to make a size
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
big enough for the original size that was in the contract. It was brought to my attention that the gentleman who sold us the shower,
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, was aware of this issue due to the manufacture telling him they don't make a size that big and he, nor anyone from this company informed us of this. We stopped the installation after many days of this company trying to find a shower size that was to meet what was in the contract, only to find out they cannot fulfill the contract. The work already preformed was new framing in the shower, and a new floor in the shower. In the contract it also states that ALL rotten wood touching the shower system will be replaced. They also failed to do this and only replaced the wood INSIDE the shower system, leaving rotten wood against new wood. The subcontractor,
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, states he was told to only replace the wood INSIDE the shower not all wood touching the shower system (even though it clearly says that in the contract.) We paid a $2350 deposit and were going to finance the rest which was going to be $9850 total for the complete shower. The owner of the company,
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
, is now refusing to pay us our full deposit due to him saying he needs to pay his subcontractor for material and labor. He flew to Rock Hill, SC from Ohio to look at our shower. He told us he was sorry but there was not a manufacture that would make a size shower
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
big enough. I told him I wanted to cancel the contract and he first stated he was going to keep $1200 of our deposit for material and labor for the subcontractor. Then he went down to keeping $930 of our deposit. Then he went down to keeping $900 of the deposit. I told him that was unacceptable and we would not accept anything less than our $2350 deposit. Several days later, he states he finally found a company to make a size shower
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
to meet the contract needs and we have three options. We can either keep the same size shower that was going to be installed originally, and he will knock $3,000 off the price of the shower, we can go with the size shower that was in the the contract, or he will cut us a check for $1206 and he will have someone come pick up the material from our house. I told him that I do not trust his workmanship and no one from his company will be allowed back into our home, and now he is wanting to keep $1144 of our deposit, even though NOTHING in the contract was met. If we would have continued with the installation of the shower system, we would have had to remove the whole NEW shower system to replace all rotten wood touching the shower system when we finally got around to replacing the flooring in our bathroom.

It took some time to have the windows made once we placed the order, but the sales people gave us an accurate estimate for date they would be ready and scheduled the work several weeks in advance. They followed up a few days before the work was supposed to begin, told us who would be coming to the house, and how long it would take.
The crew did a tidy job of taking out the existing windows, including a couple of snags (the house was built in the 1970s and has a couple of not-quite-up-to-snuff renovations done on it). They fitted the windows cleanly and made sure they were snug in the framing and flush. They cleaned and caulked the interior and finished the exterior gaps with silver

. The worksite was left clean and there was no damage to any of the house interiors or to the outside.
We had a stucco crew finish the outside around the windows when we had the entire house restuccoed a few weeks later.

I called three times and spoke only to a receptionist, who passed my request for an estimate to a sales rep. Despite two follow-up calls, the last of which I requested a different sales rep to call me back, no one returned my call. I can not understand why they would not follow up on a sales opportunity and I was frustrated by the receptionists unwillingness and inability to escalate or resolve the issue.

was great to work with. I sent him pictures of what was needed and felt confident that he understood and could perform the work. We have a poorly balanced gutter system on our house that was collecting water in a corner near our patio. We decided that we could control our mosquito problem better if we could have the water redirected to a rain barrel (our layout did not afford the option of a
Midland Window Installers Provider Name Locked
downspout to the ground). We provided our own rain barrel and a section of downspout that we had laying around. He came to the job site on-time and quickly spotted what he needed. He went to the hardware store to pick up some supplies and came back. The job was done about 2 hours later and works perfectly. He had to contend with a lot of water and debris build-up that made the job challenging. The only slight detractor I had was the aesthetics of the end result. The section of gutter we supplied was quite dirty and old (And did not match our almond-colored gutters anyways). The new elbow pieces were also the generic white and still had stickers on them. The mounting bands he used were a shiny, unpainted aluminum strip. I only downgraded that to a "B" because it was easily fixed with a can of almond-colored spray paint that we picked up at the hardware store. It took less than 45 minutes to have those pieces spray painted and back up how he had them installed. We are very happy with the service. We got exactly what we asked for. I'll gladly call him again for any gutter fixes that I don't wish to tackle myself.
