"I have some concerns regarding the policies and procedures at ExtraSpace Self Storage on 54th Avenue North in St. Petersburg. They are as follows: 1. Inconsistency." The rates for any given size storage unit are variable and constantly changing, based on vacancy rates (i.e. the number of units of a given size that are available for rental). If they have five 10 x 20 ft. units available, the rates are considerably lower than if one unit is available. 2. Administrative fees. The charge a one-time administrative fee of $25.00 (or thereabouts) for document preparation which is arbitrary and clearly aimed at increasing revenue. In the days of paperless documents, this is shameful. 3. Rigid policies and procedures. The Staff members Insist that you put your own lock on the unit the very day that you rent it. And then they put an incredibly adhesive sticker on your lock--more for their convenience; not the renter's. 4. Insistence on renter's insurance "to protect your possessions." They are merely trying to reduce their liability.... Despite what might seem to be attractive rates at the outset, they are diminished by the fees, mandatory insurance and rigid policies. Rather than being user friendly, they seem to have an obstructionist mindset. I will not rent from this facility in the future and will make every effort to terminate my current rentals, as soon as I possibly can. The "corporate influence" is evident; I think most would be better served by a locally owned storage facility and not one owned by a corporation or what may be a franchise.

Hello, this is Kyle K from the Member Care Department.

Although Angie's List doesn't provide info on average or "going rates" for various projects, when members and consumers submit reviews, they have the option to include that cost of the project.

With that in mind, one way to find out a very general price range on a project is to log on to www.AngiesList.com (http://www.angieslist.com/?CID=ANS) and search for "Moving" (or any other appropriate category for your project, such as remodeling - K&B or ceramic tile), and then look at the project cost info supplied by local members and consumers.

Of course, probably the best way to get the most accurate cost information is to request multiple bids from several contractors. As the price will vary with work site considerations and individual contractors' approaches, getting multiple estimates will help provide a clearer picture of what your project will cost.

I hope this information helps!

Here are the FAQ's on San Jose rent control - and only apartments and mobilehomes being rented are covered, not storage units.

http://www.sanjoseca.gov/FAQ.aspx?QID=521

More and more people are using storage units, so costs have gone up frequently and signfiicantly in the past few years.

Pretty much you are at the mercy of the market - if the market will support it, they can raise their prices - and the cleaner, newer, and higher security ones can do that easier (but also presumably protect your stuff better). Your only recourse, for lower cost, is to go with an older, shabbier looking or non-climate controlled place, build storage at your place, dedicate more of your personal space to storage, or get rid of stuff.

had performed a large move for her and she was amazed at how great they were. They did the same for me. Very reasonable cost. I am VERY pleased with this company and have referred them to others already. I was not aware they were members of Angie's List until I searched for the company on the internet and they came up under your website. I only had the phone number for the employee who did the move for me and wanted to share

's contact information and keep it in case I need their services again in the future.

They have delivered several pieces of furniture in the last year and every time, they do not deliver within the 4 hour window they state. They have been 1 1/2 late to 3 hours late. Both times have been in the evening. After waiting since 1p, if I had evening plans and could not have received the delivery, another delivery day would have to be set; hence, another 4 hour window that I would have to be home for and then, most likely, they would not show up until AFTER that time. Whoever schedules the delivery men does not care if they honor the time frame for the customer. Always an excuse and an apology, but after having it happen twice, they cannot be trusted. If you have any options for delivery, do not use this company. Ask the furniture stores who use them if there is another delivery service they can use. Very difficult for someone having to take off work.

They arrived on time, loaded the truck and kept it over night. Florida is HOT in the summer but the worked tirelessly until the truck was loaded. They needed to come back with a trailer the next day to get boxes that wouldn't fit on the truck. The guys were cheerful and professional.

..y emailed me To begin with, this company baits and switched
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
on their quotes. The original telephone quote was $1,800.00, having ALL of the details about where I was moving to. The estimator came to the house, and worked up a new quote at $2,800.00! They have exorbitant charges, like $240.00 for securing a washing machine for transit. By me taking on the chores that they were way overcharging for, the quote came down to $2,020.00. They emailed me the quote. A couple of days later, they contacted me to tell me that they had made a mistake with the mileage expense, and they would have to send a new quote. The new quote was for $2,300.00, and the mileage expense was the same, but the weight was raised from 5,000 Lbs. to 8,000 Lbs.! I emailed Dakota to ask why the weight increased by 60%? He said he'd get back to me. After about 4 days, I emailed the question again. Still no answer. B then, I was stuck time wise, with using this mover. When the furniture arrived and was unwrapped from the moving pads, it was all dusty and grimy. Apparently, they don't clean their moving pads very often. They emailed me after the move to ask my opinion of their services. I replied that I did not appreciate the way the quotes kept changing, the lack of response to questions, and the dirty condition of the furniture when it arrived.
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
, the estimator who apparently was not well trained, emails me back his opinions and comments, blaming everything on me! I had to reply to him asking him not to contact me anymore. I would never recommend this company, who has since merged with United.

I went with this company because they accept checks and his reviews were so good. He said any mover that wants to be paid before the move is over, is not a good mover. We set up the move. I had to move earlier than I had planned because of scheduling and availability. They were 2.5 hours late because the truck broke down. I was supposed to have a 4 man crew between 8 or 9 in the morning. 1 crew of 2 showed up at 10:30 with a smaller truck. The second truck showed up later. The crew leader on the 2nd truck began to yell at the 1st crew and asked why they didn't order a 3rd truck. The decided they would make it work. I told them, we got to get this done. I have to get my cat before the vet closes. As time passed the trucks were filling up and they had not ordered a 3rd truck and they began yelling at me that they didn't have anymore room on the trucks. They did not listen when it came to where and how I wanted things packed. They told me don't worry about it, we'll sort it out at the storage. I needed one item out to the
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
. They could not get it out in one piece, so they broke it. They also ran out of pads and then only shrink wrapped my items. The owner said it was impossible to run out of pads. They have over 100 pads on a truck. Then they were taking paintings and glass out to the truck not wrapped at all. The owner told me, "Oh they wrap it out at the truck."My patio chairs were strapped to the metal lift, and my mattress and box springs were attached to the outside of the truck. They told me the entire house was empty. I came back and luckily checked the garage. There were enough items in the garage to fill the back of a pick up truck. The owner called and was yelling at me about refusing to pay. He said I cannot refuse to pay because it is against the law and is fraud. I had no idea what he was talking about because I did not refuse to pay and was not supposed to pay until the move was over. I reminded him of that and he said, "Oh, I forgot I told you that." The owner told me that because of all the issues I had with the first move, that he would send a new fresh crew of his best and fastest movers. I said how will they know what goes where? He said to call in the day before for the stuff that was going to my sister or necie. The owner told me I would never get a shock from his company, because he is so good at estimating. Well it ended up being 1500 more than estimated. He stated that it was my fault because I needed things delivered to my sister and my
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
. Originally I needed the items delivered to my sister by noon, but then she had the day off, so it was no longer an issue. When it came time for the second part of the move. They told me that they could not pack the truck and deliver the items to my sister, my

and I. He said it was going to cost more money and take more time because I was putting time constraints on him. They wanted to do me, my sister, then my
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
. I told him "Remember, I called you back and told you my sister was off and there were no time constraints." When the crew of the second move brought the items to my home, they were all mixed up and not sorted to what goes where. They kept bringing the wrong items to the wrong areas. The older guy,
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
, was very nice and told me don't worry about it, we will sort it out for you. The younger guy, Nick, kept threatening me that "His crew was about to walk off the job." I told them I would be happy to come down and tell them where everything goes, but I was not going to leave my apartment door open because of my cat. They kept bringing things up and making piles. I told them to not pile things there, furniture is going to go there. They said, just let us bring the items up, then we will put everything where it goes. Then, they were mad that they had to move the items twice because the didn't listen when I told them not to make piles. They told me there were still boxes in the truck and they could not bring up anymore boxes because I wouldn't be able to move around. I said that I needed my boxes for my bathroom and my kitchen. They then began to cuss, just bring it all in. They began stacking the boxes and using moving straps to bring them in. This crushed the boxes. They finally got everything loaded in the house and I began to notice all the damage to my furniture items. I still haven't found all the damage. I felt intimidated by the movers, so I tipped them way more than I would normally have because I was scared of them and they knew where I lived.
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
then gave me a paper to sign. He said don't be shocked by the numbers just sign, you and
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
will talk about the final price. So I signed and did not give them a check. Then The owner called me and began yelling at me about refusing to pay again. He said I was a liar and I was being facetious. He wants payment immediately or he was calling the police. I reminded him that
Marble Falls Storage Units Provider Name Locked
said that he and I would work the final price out. He said everything was my fault and what credit card did I want to use. I told him that I would send him a check. He said he was not going to wait for a check. He made me overnight a check and send him the tracking number or he was going to call the police. He said "I was going to work with you on the price, but everything is your fault and now I want the full amount. Now give me my money or I'm calling the police." I am honestly shocked at how bad this experience was after seeing how great their reviews were.
