Questions about tankless hot water heaters? We have answers

If you’re tired of running out of hot water and considering a tankless hot water heater, get your questions answered by three highly rated service providers

Tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand

A storage tank water heater must maintain hot water even when not in use, but a tankless water heater provides endless hot water in minimal space.

When should I replace my water heater?

Dear Angie: My water heater is past its expected lifetime. Should I automatically replace it or wait until it fails?

Maintenance is key to extending the life of your water heater

Highly rated plumbers say the average water heater can last between 8 and 12 years, but routine maintenance can extend the life much longer.

Leander Water Heater Installers Reviews

"I called on a Saturday morning to fix a leaking water heater. He was able to make it over in a couple of hours and have it replaced a couple of hours later. He was very professional, courteous, and took the time to do everything correctly."
"My finacee went to pay the plumber at the jobsite (it's a rental property). Unfortunately, I was not there. First, he had already installed a water heater that would not allow the closing of the existing water heater closet door. He didn't bother to contact us to let us know about this. Why he didn't contact us first, or go check the water heater closet dimensions before starting the work baffles me.
He didn't bother to contact the City of

, TX inspection department prior to finding out if the door needed to be able to close to pass inspection. So when I spoke with him, while he was at the jobsite, he suggested extending the water heater closet. I told him we have a budget and that he should have notified us before proceeding with the installation. He offered to remove the water heater. As responsible landlords, we are not going to leave our tenants without hot water.
When he spoke with me on the phone, he must have sensed by the

of my voice, my lack of satisfaction concerning his planning and execution of this installation. He claims to have upgraded the water heater from what he originally quoted, although there is no way for us to verify that because he did not list a brand and model number on the quote.
My finacee also noticed that the drain from the water heater overflow drain

does not drain to the outside. It drains into...the garage. The City of

"When I called to set up an appointment, the lady was professional. She offered me something the next day, I think it was. That was too soon for me, and I asked for something the next week and that was fine. The window of time was 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. The plumber arrived about 8:10 a.m.

taught about the water heater, commented on its condition, indicated calcium carbonate that came out of it and pieces of the glass lining. When he checked the kitchen sink he tightened a hard-to-reach screw whose looseness had been making the ring around the sprayer loose. (Yea!)
I asked him about a possible leak at a toilet where the vinyl floor is just the slightest bit dark and the caulking cracked and where we are seeing earwigs. He talked to me about using a paper towel to check for moisture.
On the final write-up he gave prices for new water heater and resetting toilet, if I need to, in the future.
I might use them in the future for those jobs. I will have to do some price comparison. But, off the top of my head, I think that the price he quoted me was about what I paid someone else in the past. We'll have to see when the time comes.
Noting negative to say.
"I had just started the new warranty service after the builder's warranty ended. The water heater was only one year old. The plumber called the first day and arrived on the second day to repair. The part was covered under the water heater warranty with State. Because the water heater was so new the part was not available and they challenged the repair. The plumbing company sent in a second plumber and the part was replaced two days later. The delay was due to the water heater manufacturer initially refusing to replace the part. One Guard did respond to me when I escalated and the plumber they provided did an excellent job.
We called for help with a frozen and damaged water heater. They came out right away to help even though they were heavily booked due to the freeze.
They were professional, courteous, and prompt.
Highly recommend them.
"I booked my appointment with the company, they were able to get to me in 5 days. The representative,
