"I contacted the provider to see if they could conduct a house call to appraise some of my items in my home and they sent a message stating that they could not help" me with that at this time. Offered no referrals or such and the
of the email was similar to a brush-off. I was not impressed.

"I went to their office on 8/17 to set things up.
then came to my mother's house and looked around. He said that because of some mold," mildew, and cigarette smoke issues in the basement, he wouldn't be able to take much from there. He also said he wouldn't be able to take the organ or working TV's ("they just would't sell"), or mattresses and box springs ("legally can't sell). He said with the furniture and belongings left, that we wouldn't make much, but we'd make "some". We set an appointment for 8/26, at 9 AM for 3 to 4 people to come to the house, sort through it, and take the stuff that they think would sell. He said that they'd be done in about 3 to 4 hours. 9 AM came and went. I called at 9:45 to find out where they were and was told that
would have to call me back. At 10:15,
called me back. He said that he had an estate "similar" to my mother's last week that just didn't sell because of the "cigarette smoke issues". He didn't think we'd be able to sell anything and didn't want me having to pay. He also said that he'd been trying to reach me to let me know, but couldn't. I think they were very unprofessional in setting up an appointment and then just not showing up. My phone has no record of them calling me even once. If the stuff is crap, say so. don't set an appointment. and just leave people hanging.

and his staff are honest, professional and friendly. I would not go to anyone but them to sell possessions at an auction. Honesty and trustworthiness are paramount in working with an auction house and
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
personifies these traits. He and his staff are the best.

I interviewed 2 companies and picked
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
because of their long-term experience of pricing things on Ebay, marketing network, sales strategy, online and Facebook estate page setup and overall professionalism. The ladies sealed the deal by giving us the feeling that they would take very good care of our beautiful home while conducting the sale. This was very important because we were closing on the home the last day of the estate sale.

We were not disappointed. Most of our items were newer and under 7 yrs old. We received good pricing on everything and made a lot more than we sought as a goal for the sale.

They were good communicators, as well through it all. I would definitely contract with them again! **I feel that it really helped that I also took their online estate sale links and posted them on our 18 Neighborhood

Email distribution server and also on our neighborhood and personal Facebook pages.

said they stayed very busy with traffic. Another tip: If you have an estate sale - in addition to warning your next door neighbors that a large estate sale is going to be taking place near them and as a courtesy, I'd offer to supply your neighbors with small utility flags for their yards by your home, so that the estate sale traffic doesn't drive into neighbors yards and/or in-front of their driveways, etc.

Oh my gosh! It couldn't have gone better!
One of the things no one tells you is that when you sell your house and move into an apartment (an independent living facility in this case), the only way you can sell estate items after someone
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
is to have it moved somewhere else first, and that can be a huge expense! The best and quickest way we found to get that done was to call an auction house, have them pack and move the things, and auction them off individually. It was VERY important to me to find someone who was willing to take everything and not leave me with the less desirable things to get rid of on my own.
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
was recommended to me by several people in
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
(I don't live there, so this was all new to me), so I gave them a call and agreed to have them handle the auction. They charged only 25% which is pretty amazing.
They arrived on time, packed and labeled everything in the apartment, and moved everything to their auction facility where they sorted it, labeled it, and staged it for the auction. When they left the apartment, it was empty.
A few days later, they held an auction with the contents of two or three states including my stepmother's. I decided to go just to see how it worked, and it was fascinating. They were efficient, honest, and without a doubt, they knew what they were doing!
A couple of weeks later, a check arrived in the mail along with a complete list of everything they'd sold (including the price it sold for). The check I received was much larger than I expected, even after they'd deducted the moving and auction expenses!

A couple of notes to others thinking of doing this: (1) I was advised that it would be a better choice to sell these things on consignment rather than selling everything to the auction house directly, and that was absolutely true. (2) Some auction houses charge to appraise the estate before they decide to auction it off.
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
does NOT do that. They came over and looked at everything without charging me a single cent.
I could not be happier that
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
was the company I chose. What could have been a real nightmare turned out to be a very easy process. Thank you,

A picture was sent with the query.
Me: "Is this a refrigerated wine storage unit?"
Mr.
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
: "this will be sold on Saturday at auction at 4pm. It will be sold to the highest bidder."
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
. Of course it will be sold to the highest bidder, but was my question addressed? ...More /> Since the auction house is not convenient to my part of town, I now know that I needn't bother to come, since I
don't know what, exactly, is being sold.

It went very poorly. He took several of my items to an auction in West Texas. Things like Indian artifacts, a statue pair, a deer lamp I made, a

lamp, and several cowboy hats and boots, and an expensive leather jacket that was never worn. He returned most of the items ruined. The two Indian Statues had a chip. He brought back the deer horn lamp with a nasty scratch on the shade. The brand new leather jacket had scratches on it. He sold the
Hico Auction Services Provider Name Locked
lamp at a cheaper price (He claimed it was broken, which it wasn't). He said he would make good on the damage he caused, but he never did.

When he came back, he started to take inventory my glass (I've operated a stained glass business for 40 years, my garage was loaded with stained glass and supplies). He was supposed to sell items in my house that I was thinking about moving, and possibly the house itself. But I decided I wasn't going to sell the house, I'm going to let my daughter make that decision. That disappointed him. He had me moving several items outside (Even though I'm on oxygen). Come to find out, he sold several objects on the internet without my permission. Then he wanted a very expensive turtleback

lamp. I told him I wanted $400 for it. He said his helper wanted to buy it, but if not that he would buy it. When he totaled everything up in the end, there was a 30% taken off the price for the lamp.

When everything was said and done, he gave me a check for $1348. The check was not signed. I contacted him to get him to sign it. He said that I could sign his name for him. He provided a check the next week when I refused to forge his signature. Then I called him about compensating me for the damages. He thought I was griping too much so he dropped out of the auction, which was fine with me. But I was left with a 12'x60' POD that was 3/4 full of things that he took out of the garage to make room to sell the glass, and he told me that it is up to me to take care of it. I had to hire someone to help me empty that POD to return it on time, which made it very difficult on me. I hope no one would have to experience what I have through this Auctioneer. I am now very leery about using ANY auctioneer.

They have a wonderful reputation! They came out and packed everything up and took it to his showroom and was willing to hold on to my belongings. He was much more helpful. Has sent two huge vans and is moving my belongings to his showroom. He is going to wait a week after a festival to allow his regular customers to come take a look. He was concerned about what was right for me rather than his business.

They arranged all of the items beautifully for sale, and priced them appropriately (i.e., high enough to maximize profits, but low enough to entice sales). Their advice about what was likely to happen (what would and probably wouldn't sell) was spot on. What impressed me most is that they were more concerned about my satisfaction than with making a quick buck. I consider the sale to have been a success, and they were the primary reason for that. If I ever need to hold an estate sale again, I will contact them.

During the time after

We had a huge turn out of customers on the very first morning, which I credit to the way items were emphasized in our ads. Overall, it was a rewarding venture and
