"This was my first visit to this office as I had just moved to the area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Dr.

"I showed up 5 min late (bus got in front of me). I waited almost 20 min to see a dr. They checked temp and listen to her heart. Dr found tender spot. Felt kidneys" and they were not swollen. Found atrophy on one back knee opposite pain side. Could be a
or kidney trouble. Recomendation: 2 x-rays ($237.00). Urinalysis ($49.00) AND $38.00 to get the sample. I have never heard of an extra charge to get a urine sample. Ok, I opt to wait and see if she gets better without xrays. Dr says cat needs pain mess to take the
off so she will eat. I made the mistake of not asking the price first. They gave me 10 syringes (no needles needed) with meds in them. I go to check out. My office visit was $57.00 , $3.50 hazardous waste fee (for what?, nothing was used) and $60.00 for pain meds!!!! I feel this practice is all about getting as much money from you as they can and not the true wellbeing of the animals. It makes me appreciate my regular very (who was unavailable today) even more.

Angie's Answers

?

Hi

The first answer is pretty thorough but I would like to add a few points.

First.. the type of food you are feeding your dog may be the key.  If you are using a food that is grain, rice or corn based in the first three ingredients, please change to a food that is meat or chicken based.  Many dogs are allergic to grain, rice, wheat and corn and these things are used as primary ingredients in many well known, name brand dog foods.  Secondly, all treats that have these ingredients should be cut out.  It takes weeks to months before a food change can show results so you must be patient.  Jumping from one food to another will be counter-productive.

Some dogs are so allergic to flea or other insect bites that one or two bites can cause a severe reaction.  Once the itching/scratching cycle begins, it is hard to stop it.  Benadryl is good but I suggest liquid form.  You can get it inexpensively at one of the dollar stores.  The pills take time to break down in the digestive system so you get better and faster results with the liquid. One tsp= 5cc and most dogs of average size can tolerate that much and more if the dog is a larger breed.

Allergy testing is very expensive and most dogs will test positive to some things.  That does not mean that the itching is coming from those things as many things in the environment can trigger positive test results.  Breaking the cycle of itching is primary and that can be done with prednisone ( short term and last resort after benadryl and bathing), allergy shots( same deal, last resort after easier methods).   This spring and summer have been particularly hard, weather-wise.

Good luck!

After you search for the company, you should get the "no results" page. Scroll down just a little bit, and you'll see a button and a link that say "Add this provider." Click on that to add them to the List! Thanks for the great question.
?
I'm really sorry! It looks like we made some site changes I hadn't noticed before and it made things just a little more confusing (for me, too!). We'll have to look into this to make it easier.
In the meantime, here's what you do:
1) Look for the Submit a Report button. It's yellow and on the right-hand side of the page.
2) Search for the animal cancer care clinic you're looking for. The search box should be inside a yellow bar.
3) You should see a list of potential matches, but on top of those, there should be "add a provider to the List" text in blue, which is where you'll click to get to the add page.

Let me know if you have any trouble. Sorry, again, for this being so confusing.

Excellent. We use CC as our vet for all services and they have been outstanding everytime. They are always very professional, caring and competent. We trust them and are very happy with their integral role in keeping our puppy healthy.

I took my 15 year old cat in to have his teeth cleaned (with 2 extractions). I'm sure they did a good job. However, when I got there to pick him up, they told me that I had to give him oral liquid antibiotics for over a week. They do not give antibiotic shots. I have never been able to give pills or anything to my cat so I was a little upset. I would have had to go to another
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
to get the shot. I decided to do it myself. For the first few days he was fine and eating more than usual. But a week later he became extremely ill. I don't know if not enough of the antibiotics got into him or what. My cat is old and frail, but
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
did bloodwork beforehand so I thought that he would be alright. I have now taken him to my regular
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
and have another bill of $300.00 for more antibiotics and an IV drip for rehydration. I'm actually afraid that my cat might die.
I know
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
provides a good service, but don't go if you have an old frail cat or if you can't administer oral pills or fluids.

7 years. The staff and vets are always very friendly. I trust the vets' that are there and their professional opinions. They saved her life 6 years when she was a pup and ate something toxic to her little body.

Dr
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
has done surgery, and treated our two

dogs for years. He has a pleasant and calm manner with the dogs. Our first

made it 15 ½ years under his care. Our present
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is 3 years old and should have a long life also under his care unless his

Disease shortens it. Dr

and his assistant

are very good at education and explaining things. They pointed out, for example, that despite our dog having gotten the
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Disease shot, that the shots are not full proof and also that
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
Disease can come back on it's own for no apparent reason or from a new tick bite. Incidentally, we found no ticks on this dog and the doctor didn't either but apparently, ticks can bite and then come off without your knowledge. The office is good at giving you reminders on your bill of when your dog (or cat, or other small animal) is due for shots. Our daughter also boards her dog at

and trusts them to give her dog good care.

My dog was very sick and they were able to see her two hours after I called them. When we got there, they had us go right back to the exam room. They were really quick. After examining my dog, they told me about what they found. They then offered two plans of what they could do for her: give her medicine which treats all the symptoms and might make her better or do a bunch of testing to see what the actual cause was. I chose to do medicine and see if that would help. Vet costs for a regular check up like this was $45 plus medicine. Costs for the tests which included blood work and radiology plus other tests $530.

I have been three twice. They gave me options which included doing about $2,000 worth of stuff, but the cat is 12 years old so I decided not to do that. They treated me and my cat really, really well.

I love this vet! Dr
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
is wonderful and very informative. It is always a learning experience for me. My dog had been to a vet in a different city and I was never told how bad her teeth were but I suspected that she had issues. My vet said she had the mouth of an 11 yr old and she is only 5. They were very up front with the cost and print off an invoice with line by line charges ahead of any procedure. They called me 3 times on the day of the procedure: when she was being put under, after xrays to update me on what actually needed to be done and when it was over. It was Dr.
Gilmer Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
that made 2 of the calls. They are genuinely concerned about the welfare of the animals. I am so happy that I changed to this practice.

One of my dogs had fallen out of my camper trailer, and had been limping. I just took her in to have them check her out. They said she'll be fine, and my dogs love going there. This is the only vet I've been to where my dogs aren't nervous to go visit. The staff even sit on the floor with your pets and take time to get to know them. I would recommend them to anyone; they're great!
