"
was a granite company chosen for me by Tailor Made Kitchens. I chose the color and level of granite through the decorator and made my decision" based on what I could afford. I splurged a little and went to a level II granite with nice edging. Big investment for us and very exciting. I believe the complete turnaround time may have been 3 days - wow, that is fast! When I got home and saw the gaps between the granite and my kitchen wall, I was so disappointed. I placed a call to the decorator, who called the kitchen people, who called the granite people. Additionally, the installers left open razorblades and an open can of acetone on the floor? I cleaned up the mess and left post-it notes on the areas of concern (rough corners and a 1/2 gap filled with a clear gel). The installers came a second time and did not address the areas of concern (I could not be home to oversee due to family medical issue). Some seams were filled with a black residue of some type, post-its removed and not addressed. Rough areas and 1/2" gap not addressed. More open razorblades left on floor. Third visit, had everyone on site pointing fingers. They sawed into the wall and pushed counter, but still left large gap. I also noticed during this visit that the motion of the granite did not flow from one side of the
to the other. They asked if I wanted them to cut another piece and I declined - this was the best of the troubles. The solution offered by the kitchen company was to take backsplash outside of cabinet area or put a "patch" piece of granite over the gap. I did not want six inches of backsplash to run beyond my cabinets as I had seen examples of this on the internet and though it looked odd. We have a small black "patch" of granite at the end of our
/bar to cover the remaining gap. On a second visit, I would think a manager would have come to the job to view the areas of concern. Only on the third complaint did a manager come to my home and even then did not seem apologetic. The "patch" was applied on visit four by the guys who installed the backsplash. This was an unpleasant experience for us.

"I purchased and had installed an 8 foot piece of granite for my man cave wet bar. I was directed to their warehouse by a small granite shop on Greenville to pick" out a piece that would fit. The choices at
were overwhelming, they had so much to choose from. Once I decided on a piece we negotiated the price and scheduled a templating. Their template guy showed up right on time and took a lot of measurements. He took my undermount sink and was in and out of the house in less than 20 minutes. A few days later my granite arrived. They were about an hour outside of the 2 hour window I had scheduled for delivery, but called ahead to let me know they were running behind. The two gentlemen showed up with the granite with the sink already mounted to it. They installed it, cut out the holes for my sink, beer tower, and beer drain. Everything went smoothly and they communicated throughout the process, making sure everything was to my liking. The only negative comment I would have is that the installers wore ZERO protective equipment. No safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves or steel toe boots. I was quite surprised they were hauling a 300 lb piece of granite up the stairs with sneakers.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

?

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

I highly recommend
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
. They offered the perfect slab of quartz for my kitchen remodel at a cost much lower than the "big box" home improvement stores. Installation was two weeks from the initial measure and their work was immaculate.

I did my home remodel in 2 phases. The first phase was not quite a disaster, but close. Generally speaking, there are a lot of contractors out there who don't have the slightest idea what they are doing. Honestly, it is difficult to find a contractor with any integrity at all (from my personal experience) I found
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
on Angie's list. When I did my kitchen in phase 1, I used a different granite company, their prices were great, but their ability to communicated and to be on time was horrible. When I went to Angie's list to find someone who I could trust I had already been burned previously, so I was skeptical at best. But for $10 I thought that I would try Angie's List. I called several granite companies and kind of felt like I was getting the same crap that I got on Phase 1. No one would give me any kind of an estimate without coming out to measure for themselves (I'm not an idiot, I can measure a rectangular 84" X 22" granite slab. Obviously not for the install, but all that I needed was a ball park number so that I could budget for phase 2.
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
gave me an estimate over the phone and although they were not the cheapest, they were competent on every level. They even laid down a tarp where ever they walked in my house while they were working. Some of the other companies just walked in, made a mess and then left, leaving us a ton of clean up. I can confidently recommend
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
for any of your counter top needs

I want to start by saying that I would not recommend this company to anyone. I also want to mention that I am not a difficult customer at all, but just simply an honest one. The counter tops appear to have been installed correctly, but the customer service experience was NOT a good one. The lady I met at the show room was not that friendly. A few days later the owner (
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
) came to my house to take measurements. He was not friendly at all and even appeared annoyed with me when I asked a few standard questions about the installation. After he left, I notice glue all over my counter tops. A week or so later the installers replaced the counter tops. During the inspection of the finished product, I noticed one of my cabinet drawers (new cabinets) was not working correctly. One of the rails was bent. The installers tried to fix it, but said they did not want to cause anymore damage and would ask the owner to contact me for repair. A little over a week went by and I did not hear anything (not surprised). Fortunately, I have a friend who knows cabinets well and was able to fix the issue for me, as I did not want to go down the path of the owner giving me a hard time about it. However, I did call
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
to ask for a receipt and had to leave a voice mail. When no one returned my call, I called back and the owner answered. I mentioned to him that I was pleased with the installation, but was not satisfied with the customer service experience. He said "You are kidding, right?" When I began to tell him my feedback on the customer service, he said that I was being
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
and that the installation is what really matters. I told him that I disagree and that the customer's overall experience is what really matters. At this point I knew the call was not going anywhere, so I just asked for a receipt and said I would give my honest review on Angie's list. He then said he took that as a threat. I said "A customer giving honest feedback is not a threat and it is probably the most common reason why customers sign-up on Angie's list". He said that I was being an overly sensitive customer. I think I said enough to get my point across on the lack of professionalism I was dealing with.

I was hesitant to use Express becasue there was no record of them on Angie's List. However, my neighbor used them and i saw that they did quality work. She indicated that she had no issues. So we went ahead with Express since they were priced below the our estimates.
We went to the granite wholesaler a few times to get an idea of what we were looking for and to get an exact price. After we picked the color and agreed on the price, we moved forward. The only reason I give them a "B" in professionalism is that there were two instances where they messed up the scheduling. The first was when we were going to select are specific slab.
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
was going to meet us there but called the night before or so to tell us he had to go to a measurement and could not make it. He offered to reschedule but our schedule was tight so we were unable to. He assured me that he would look them over once they got to his store anyway and would alert me if there were any issues (cracks, etc) that I did not notice. My wife and I went alone and picked out the slabs we wanted.
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
did call them and had them move a few out so we could see what we were getting. The slabs were laid out and ready to go when we got there, which was nice.
Another scheduling issue arose when the lady who runs the schedule called and told me that they double booked the guy who was scheduled to come over and template the kitchen. She asked if I could reschedule. I was unable to and the guy showed up as scheduled. So both of these scheduling issues did not turn out to be a problem at all, but it made me a little nervous about the project.
When the gentleman came over to do the template, he offered suggestions and we made some changes to the template of the island. We also added the bathroom vanity which was not a problem for them. After the template was done,
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
called me about the price changes, which we were expecting given the changes that we made. I am pretty sure
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
knew that we were going to make the changes regardless of price (within reason) but the upcharge was in my opinion quite reasonable. In other words, he probably could have run up the price on me for the additions, but he didn't.
Finally, the day of install came. Just about three weeks following signing the contract. Two guys came by about 8:30 and and tore out my existing countertops and replaced them with granite. They gave me some instructions and were gone by 1pm. It looked great!. I am very pleased with the work they did and I really couldn't be happier. I would undoubtedly use them again.

I'm picky because so much of my money has gone to contractors. I've had MANY, MANY bad ones, but
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
Joy was not one of them. This was years ago (nearly 15), but
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
came out and installed two bathrooms worth of 6 inch white tile... the installation was fantastic, even with his then apprentice son doing some of the work. I had one issue with a raised tile on the floor right where I step, and
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
came out immediately to fix it (his inexperienced son had installed). Not until recently did I have issues with any of the tile or grout, other than it showing dirt in the grout and caulking because the grout was not sealed and I did not use the proper caulk when re-caulking (I now have the OK GroutSmith coming out to repair). I don't know of any problems behind the walls with mold or anything like that, as I think they used a good backer board and liner where needed. I recommended
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
to my neighbor a couple of years ago, and they told me that they are very satisfied, and that MJ / his crew did a fine job; they said MJs crew was the first contractor they EVER had to show-up timely, when they said they would - certainly I'll be asking her again (how the job has held- up) based on the other review in here who gave him an F (which averages MJ to a C). I don't know
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
well personally, but based on my (and my neighbor's) professional dealings with him, I cannot imagine that his crew deserves an F, or that he did not try to rectify the problem. These reviews are fine, but everything is subjective when it comes to pickiness... it's possible that some just need professional (medical) help. I'm sure
Canyon Natural Stone Tile Provider Name Locked
can do fine on his own without my review, I just wanted to put in a good word for him. And, a word to everyone, including contractors: please do not use your young relatives or inexperienced people to do the installations when you can discern that you may have a perfectionist client on your hands; my house is a wreck because I can't find anyone to do the jobs even CORRECTLY (much less perfectly).
