"After speaking with 11 granite fabricators from a list given to me by Arizona Tile, I hired
(
and
" ) to replace vanity tops in the master and guest bathrooms, install small soap shelves in the two showers, install a granite threshold on one shower, and install granite in one window sill. I purchased the granite slab from Arizona Tile, who pointed out to me a section of the slab had been evaluated as not usable due to multiple crack lines, and told me that damaged section needed to be cut off and discarded. However, there was still plenty of usable granite to complete my bathrooms according to the measurement information provided to me by
.
picked up my granite slab from Arizona Tile, and I told
that the slab had damage to one section that could not be used for the job. I spoke with them multiple times on the phone and visited their shop in
Valley twice. We even talked about a section of the slab that had a pinkish color that was not my favorite, and I told
I wished the pink color could be avoided when they cut out the vanity tops, but I knew it would probably be impossible since the slab would be smaller after the damaged section was removed.
replied that she thought they would still have room to cut the vanity tops and avoid most of the pink color because the slab was big enough. Great, if it can really be done! The granite for the vanity tops and window sill was installed on 3-27-2015, but
told me the shower shelves and threshold could not be installed that day because I just had both showers tiled and my tile installer made the shelf openings and threshold differently from what they discussed. She said they would take new measurements, cut those pieces to the correct size, and would be back the next business day, March 30th, to install them. Immediately after they left that day, I found two big problems. First, even though I supplied the specs and installation drawings of the new sinks, one sink was installed backwards. Second, the granite vanity top in the master bath had a significant crack in it and I saw that they had used the damaged section of granite for the master bath vanity top instead of discarding it. I planned to talk with them about those 2 problems when they came the next business day, because that work was not acceptable. However,
and
did not come to my house to finish the job on March 30th. I made numerous phone calls in the weeks and months that followed to have them come back and finish the job. I received no response to most of my phone calls. But they did call me a couple of times during that five month period to tell me that they lost their granite installer and had to hire another. I felt bad for them, so I gave them more time, but two months later they still had not made any effort to finish my job. Another time I was told that they were very behind in their jobs due to the time they lost hiring a new granite installer. So I gave them more time. After another 2 months I was told that they had their computer hacked and they lost my phone number.
told me that they even came over to my house, but I was not at home. (I wonder why they didn't leave a note if they came all the way over to my house in
Valley.) Finally, exactly 5 MONTHS after the original installation, they came back to finish the job. On August 27th, when
and
came to my house to complete the job,
told me that I could expect shower water to get into the walls around the shelves they were installing!!! I was shocked because I just paid thousands of dollars for the granite and tile work, and I certainly didn’t want water to get into the walls! Give me a break!!! I really didn’t understand what she was talking about. She said the tile installer should have installed the granite shelves, not
. That was the first time I was hearing this, and I wondered why
didn’t cut the shelves before the tile installer completed his job so that the tile installer could have fitted the shower shelves securely. This was completely different from what they said five months ago, so it was very confusing! This all could have been avoided with a little communication. I'm sure my tile installer would have been happy to install the granite soap/shampoo shelves if he had been given the shelves to install. I could have easily driven to
Valley to the
office to pick up the shelves if I had known they wanted tile installer to put in the shelves. At this point I had absolutely no idea what to do about the shelves because I certainly did not want water in my walls. So I moved the conversation to the two big problems with their original installation.
looked at the sink and agreed that the sink was accidentally installed backwards, and then he abruptly picked up his tools and left with
following. As he was walking away from my house with his back to me I asked him to come back and talk with me to solve the problems. He said that he wasn’t going to talk with a “crazy lady” and continued to walk to his truck. What??? Not once did I raise my voice or talk quickly with anger, or display any body language that would indicate anger or power. I told him that his comment was inappropriate and unprofessional, but he just ignored me and got into his truck. I told him I chose
over all the other fabricators because they seemed honest and trustworthy with a good work ethic, but he again said he would not talk to a "crazy lady". Then he put up his car window right in front of me and they drove away. I paid
the full price and I am left with a defective master bath vanity top, a backwards sink, duct tape over the holes in the showers where the shelves should go, and an open section of shower floor where the granite threshold should go. That's another area where water can get in, and I've been putting up with these unfinished problems for 5 months already, with no end in sight due to a company who apparently thinks it’s okay to cheat and talk disrespectfully to their customers.

"
and his team of subcontractors were very professional and usually on time. I thought they did a good job. But I just had a problem with my" wine cooler, which they had installed, less than 2 years ago. I tried calling owner(
) and he would not return my phone call. I thought they did a good job until I needed to have Wine cooler serviced. We could not get wine cooler out from under counter. They just put in hole, the flooring under was 3/8 in lower than the tile in front of it. I left message for owner
to call me, I had a problem, he never called me back. I guess it was take the money and run. The only way to get wine cooler out was to cut up a good fairly new( 2 years old) wine cooler. I am very disappointed. I had to purchase a new wine cooler and have a contractor do it right, this time. making the flooring even before installation. Because due to the levelers in back we could not get out from under cabinets with out ruining the wine cooler. So in the long run, they cost me over $1,000 to fix what they could have doen when they did the job for less than $25.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

?

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

(son) knows what he is doing and always first to arrive. His father spent a good portion of one day going “above and beyond” what we agreed upon by adding to an existing built in wine rack and utility cabinet. His suggestions and workmanship truly made our entire kitchen look “beautiful”. For us, customer service, trust, professionalism, concern for our home and value are critical factors when selecting any vendor.

First of all,
Canyon Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
returned my phone call within about 15 minutes of my first contacting him (and it was after hours). He immediately scheduled to come over to my house a few days later for a free estimate. He arrived on time, calling me 10 minutes before he was to arrive, so I would know he was in the area. He gave me an estimate and we scheduled a day for the work to be done.
On the day of the actual job, he arrived on time, did all the work as described, made very little mess, and cleaned up afterwards. He honored the initial estimate and we were very pleased. Yes , I would hire him again.

Very professional and efficient, with personable staff, from start to finish. I did not rate the price since this was my first experience with granite and I am simply unfamiliar with comparable materials and prices.

The quality of the granite and the workmanship was excellent, and the price competitive. They arrived on the day they said they would and installed it all promptly. I do not recall the cost, but we got estimates from several vendors and they were competitive.

I contacted this provider for new kitchen countertops specifically because they were recommended on Angie's List. I called on 8/12/15, spoke to a gentleman who identified himself as
Canyon Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
. He said to email the measurements and they'd get back to me the same day w/a price quote. Five days later on 8/17, after hearing nothing, I called again and spoke to
Canyon Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
who said to email them again. I emailed again w/no response. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED, especially after reading their reviews, I expected better customer service. They advertise on their homepage "Instant Online Quote". If they can't even keep their word on that, how can they be trusted?
I don't doubt they have some satisfied customers, unfortunately my experience was not satisfactory. Perhaps they should rethink their "Instant Online Quote" promise...I have a feeling I'm not the only one who's had this experience.
BTW, in case they claim they were never contacted by me, I have the emails and the phone calls logs to back up the dates and times I called and spoke to
