"Stared great, good selection, good prices, came out in a timely manner. But they cut one piece too short, which we didn't notice untill we went to install" it. So trip one, to bring it back. Took maybe a week, were told a new one had been cut. When I got there, she gave me the new one, and said two had been cut, she would give me both. She looked all over, couldnt find, no problem. Took it home, the match was terrrible. She said no problem, bring it back. So I did, she said she didn't know when they would get in a close match, I said no problem. After a week I stopped by, they had a stone that matched fine. Another week, she said it was done. I picked it up, She also gave me the piece that she couldnt find before. It was not a new one, it was the one I had brought back. Brought the new piece home, they had polished the wrong end. So I called, said I have been out 4 times about this one piece. She said they would pick it up. A week later, two more calls, I asked to speak to the owner. She said they would call me. A week later my husband called them, the owners were gone for 3 weeks, but no one had told us. finally my husband brought it back and they polished it while he waited. I was pleasant until the last call, by then I had gotten tired of the excuse: we are doing kitchens and cant fit it in right now. In my opinion, when someone makes a mistake, that order should go to the top of the list, not the bottom. Also, a hammer and cats claw went missing the week they were out here, may have been an honest mistake, but they were never located.

"I selected this company based upon reviews in Angie's List. I contacted this company via telephone and received a quote to have four granite counter tops cleaned" and resealed. The price quoted was agreeable and I scheduled a morning appointment approximately one month out. I stayed home from work on the day the services were to be provided. The technician was to be at my residence at 0800 HRS. By mid-morning the technician was not at my house and I had not received a telephone call. I called the service department but received their voice mail and left a message asking them to call me. By mid-day I had not received a phone call so I called again. This time I was able to speak to the service department manager. They admitted a mistake in scheduling as they had my appointment for the following week. We agreed upon a new appointment date of two weeks later. On that day (07/31/15) there was no technician at my house by 0900 HRS while the appointment was for 0800 HRS. I called the company and was transferred to the voice mail of the service department manager. I left a message asking her to call me. Approximately two hours later I called again and was put on hold for the service department manager, then eventually transferred to her voice mail where I left another message. By noon I still had no return call and telephoned the company again and was finally able to speak to the service department manager. She stated she just heard my voice mail and was going to call me. That was the same thing that was said when I left messages for the last missed appointment and I am surprised that a service department does not check messages they receive until mid-day. When she looked at her schedule book she told me that my appointment was once again the following week and not this day. Due to my work schedule I am certain that I would not have requested an appointment during that week. I cancelled my request for service (no charge to me). I am unable to rate the site work for this company as there was no performance of such. If you do schedule a service appointment with this company I would strongly recommend confirming the appointment by a telephone call the day before. They seem to have significant difficulties in their service department for scheduling and keeping appointments.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

A two day job, he arrived on time both days, pleasant to work with and cleaned up after the job was done. Love the new shower floor!

was recommended to me by a friend. They installed Granite on a half wall, surrounding my living room. We first went to pick out the Granite at their store. Everyone we met was professional and helpful. We finally settled on the Granite and were called shortly thereafter to set up an appointment to take measurements. The person they sent arrived on time and was very professional. These measurements must be exact and it was fascinating to watch him work. Shortly afterwards we received a call to do the installation. Once again, they showed up promptly at the appointed time and completed a perfect installation within 45 minutes and were gone. This was a very positive experience. It is always a gamble letting people in your home to provide service,

They completed the basement but the toilet in the bathroom was not done properly. They were supposed to install new wood floors in living room and dining room and that was not done. They were supposed to change the interior door in the living room and that was not done. The were supposed to change the heating system in the living room and the dining room and that was not done. They were supposed to change the kitchen and the basement doors and that was not done. They were supposed to paint, they painted the walls but not the ceiling. They tiled the kitchen floor but they did not do all of it. When I go upstairs, they were supposed to finish the bedroom floors and that was done. However, they did not paint the ceiling like they were supposed to. They were supposed to fix the outer wall to the basement, and that was not done. They were supposed to frame around the windows and that was not done. They were supposed to remove their garbage, they did not get all of it and put it in my garage and back yard.

Go to these guys when you need to remodel. Prices are really reasonable and they have a good selection of cabinets and stone for your budget to high end remodels. But what really sets these guys apart is customer service and craftsmanship. I have done two kitchen remodels with

and can say that they have impressed me each time. They were always on time, easy to get ahold of, and finished the jobs on time. I have hired other contractors in the past and have had to constantly be on top of them to even show up, check their work, and point out flaws. The crew at Capital definitely take pride in what they do. They laid out the cabinets and checked them for flaws. They shimmed and attached each run of cabinets before hanging them. They made sure each run was level and that I was happy with the work. When they installed the granite they were meticulous with the measurements, fittings and the seams were tight and clean. They do clean quality work and they stand by it. I see my kitchen everyday and would not want to trust the remodel to just anyone. My kitchens look amazing and I will be recommending them to anyone who needs work done.

was great to work with! He came to our house to see what a disaster restoration company had done to our existing granite during water mitigation. He wrote a letter for our insurance company explaining the damage to our granite and quoting replacement costs. He met us at a slabyard and helped us select a slab to use in our kitchen and helped us get a good deal on the slab. His crew came to our house and made templates for our new counter and within a few days they had the new granite cut and installed. We are SO happy with the beautiful work they did and felt like their price was really fair. A+ service!
- Christine S.

My stainless steel kitchen sink had detached from the granite countertop because the silicon holding it up corroded and the installer, another company did a poor job attaching it. I was able to get an appointment within a week. The 2 guys arrived on time, got right to work and finished within an hour. They were polite and happy workers.

Oympia Marble and Granite is a company that gets some things really,
really right – and other things woefully wrong.
The good news: The
installation of our granite countertop was superior. The fabricators did an impeccable job; it was hard for me to find a seam anywhere until I realized that they had cut the stone in such a way that a single, small, almost invisible seam behind my kitchen faucet joined the two very large pieces. They also showed up on schedule, and worked quickly and efficiently to get the stone installed. It was truly an excellent experience.
Before I write the bad news.
I want to say that if this company is able to hire someone to coach
their staff in the handling of customer service issues when customers run into
problems with their products, it will be an A+ company. I

’t necessarily
think they

’t have skills for trouble shooting with customers, and these skills
can be learned by a staff willing to learn them.

Here is what I think they need to learn:

Listen to
the customer. If there is a problem
or a question that the customer is experiencing, he/she will probably appear to
be concerned – maybe even dissatisfied.
Keep in mind that he/she is not coming to you to annoy or inconvenience
you, but to get your help in solving a problem.

What to say: "I want
you to do X, Y, and Z, and if that does not solve the problem, call us and we
will schedule an appointment to come out and look at your job."

What not to say: " We install two or three of
these countertops every week, and no one else has had this problem."

Also, if said customer reports that
he/she has already used X, Y, and Z to try to solve the problem without

up on time. If you get tied up on a job, call the customer
to let him/her know. If you forget to call:

What to say: "My
apologies for arriving almost 2 hours after the time we scheduled. I know your time is valuable. I should have called you. I’m sorry."

What not to say (especially with
incredulity): "Why are you getting upset? I
couldn’t get here earlier. I was on
another job!"

Say what
is true.

to say if the customer asks if the particular granite in which he/she is
interested is sturdy: "The product is sturdy in this way (X,Y ,Z) but it
can be vulnerable in this way (X.Y, Z.)""

not to say: "This is indestructible" (especially since the product can be googled
by a customer who is somewhat wiser than I was.)

to say if the customer is concerned that the spray product you are
recommending to treat the kitchen countertop might be toxic: Consider his/her
concerns with an open mind, and reply "Can
you explain your concern about toxicity to me?
We want to make sure you are satisfied with our product."

What not to say: "It was approved by the Food and Drug
Administration" (especially if the label on the spray can reads

We shopped around a lot until we found MG Granite. Just when we were about to go with another provider we decided to stop by and see what they had. We were blown away!!

at MG was so helpful from the moment we walked in, their selection is huge, and their prices beat everyone else by FAR. We are so happy that we got quotes from other places first so when we got our quote from MG we knew we were getting a great deal. We were even able to upgrade the sink and get an upgraded
