Home Remodeling Reviews in Alvin

The crew showed up on time then began work they remover the old roof anf placed felt down. The next day no one showed to work. (Iwas never given a reasno) the 3rd day the crew showed and I called Mr
to check the roof because I specifically requested Valley Flashing and Ice & water Membrane to be put down and neither were. Mr
explained that I did not need these items because they were going to "sew" the shingles. I still requested the Flashing. He said it would be installed. I then left town for work. upon my return the roof had been completed. The "boot" around theexhaust vent for my water heater was placed on backwards leaving the vent pipe pointing to the side instead of being straight up. The Heater vent for the Gas Fornace was never hooked back up and was left laying in the insulation inside my attick. Mr
had a person come out and reinstall the Boot. I put the heater vent back on myself. After everything was complete I needed the certificate for TWIC compteted but Mr
did not take care of it. I called him for over a month without him replying to my messages then I called and had a County inspector come out to inspect the room myself so I could complete my insurance requirements. I finally got in touch with Mr
and he apologized stating that he head been in the Hospital.
Now just under 5 years laterI was cleaning the fascia and rain gutters when the Fascis
(Hardy Brd) fell off, looking inside I see that everything is rotted and that the Valley if leakininto the soffit. I called Mr
and spoke with him, he stated that he would come to look at it the following Wednesday. Mr
never showed. I have called several times since and after introducing myself have been hung up on. I have left numerous messages asking when someone would look at the damage, but have never received a return call. I was never rude or threatening to anyone. I'm not sure why Mr Teagus has'nt followed up.
I did have another Roofing company come out and look at the damage and they informed me that it was the workmanship and failure to apply the "Bituthene Membrane".
I would not recommend J & J Construction for anything.

We were sold when the owner said they were "CRAFTSMEN", the arched door that they created had a hinge misplaced and patched where you would see it while the door was open and the hinges were not plumb with the jamb, they took this back to the shop and re-worked it and even then the nail holes from them placing the door were never filled with putty. They did not show up on time. Never had a liason who was on the job from beginning to end. Didn't sink the nails and fill with putty BEFORE they painted the inside of the outside door. He said they were "KNOWN" for their tile work, the shower head holes are botched, the tile on the floor was sealed and not cleaned properly. My husband acid washed the floor after the owner said they would do it twice, we have done the shower and it looks better, now will have to do the bathroom floor. The owner
, was on the job for the second to last day and we wanted a frame of tile around the mirrors, he didn't grout the tile OR finish with the tile WE purchased and he took from the job and when questioned about it he said "I thought you wanted it that way, in case you had to remove the mirrors." SERIOUSLY? It's TILE it needs grout!! The cabinet they made into a vanity wasn't sanded properly before they stained it and you can see hinge
on the wood AND the grout under the counters was never filled in OR trimmed out. Things not finished even after repeated returns and COMPLETE lack of communication to the workers from original job quote. Too many things to list that were not level and plumb. We had to finish this job ourselves and we only hired someone because the job required brick work and a window replacement with a door and the tile work for the shower. We could have done a much better job, might have taken us longer, but it would have been cheaper and better looking. Overall would NEVER recommend this company to do any job. Found out during this job that the owner has 7 other businesses, maybe why he couldn't devote quality time to our job. Oh, and thought I asked for a quote for the job complete WITH tile and it was only labor. Make sure you get EVERYTHING in writing EACH time you talk to them. I could go on, but I am sure you get the idea! :)

No services were performed because
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
failed to show up for the job after they were selected out of the many I interviewed and got bids from. This company was supposed to show up November 11th, in the owners words by email on Nov. 9th, 2011: "I am shooting for Friday (11/11/11) to start, if not it will be Monday (11/14/11) for sure". It is now Monday, Nov. 14th and I have not heard a word from
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
or his company. I have called twice to only get his voicemail. Left messages to call me and let me know if he was starting the job today (Monday, Nov. 14th, 2011). I did not receive a response for either phone call. I also called the week prior to this company starting the job but didn't receive a call back then either. The last communication I received at all was an email on Wednesday, Nov. 9th, 2011 with a revised estimate and what date the job would start.

I left a final phone message on voicemail at 9:00 a.m. stating that the job will go to another contractor and this company if fired for non-communication with the customer. Still no word from them.

He sent over a worker after a 3 week delay and the worker laid down on our sidewalk and slept. I never saw
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
after I gave him the check. He did bring over some tools to give the impression that he would start to work, but after 3 months of no work, we fired him from the job and hired someone else to finish. He then called the police and told them we were holding onto his tools and the police came and I told them he never showed up to pick them up and that he was lying. I put his tools out in front and sometime over night he came and picked them up.

As far as the actual work goes—the workers
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
’t have the
necessary tools to carry out all aspects of the job. They cannot cut tile that
requires anything other than a straight

cut (we have jagged cuts for the hardware
in the master bath and a crack in the tile for the hall bath faucet). They will
also use the tools in your garage without asking (maybe I should have charged
them a rental fee!). Several times I knocked down broken tiles that were
installed (all but the one they broke on a $300 mural for behind the

this couldn’t be replaced) because they were broken. The kitchen

tile has stains all over because they never sealed the tile. The tile on the
floor in the hall bath is the same color as the shower tile even though we
picked out a different color. They broke the first whirlpool tub and then told
us to find the parts needed to fix it and then told us that they can’t make a
frame because the new tub was oval ( we also had to show the guys how to make
an access panel for the tub. Why they were trying to figure out how to get one
to open towards the motor is beyond me.) We had to buy 90% of the accent tiles
for the shower, tub, and floor in the master because
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
hadn’t even though he
knew about it for 3 weeks. We were never reimbursed for these. We had to clean
up joint compound from the floor, windows and blinds because they hadn’t. Their
contract states that, “After completion the house will be thoroughly cleaned.”
This was never done.

will also not apply for permits; it is
the customer’s responsibility. After they started the work and I asked about
what permits I needed to get, I was told that we didn’t have to get them by

because homeowners are allowed to do their own work.
Alvin Remodeling Contractors Provider Name Locked
said that he
would help us obtain permits if we needed him to, but we would need to pay
additional fees for a licensed electrician and plumber to come out to the site at
the time the city did the inspections. After reading up on the permit process,
I learned that any work they did prior to an inspection would have to be
redone. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place!
I would not recommend this company to anyone. They are
dishonest, take short-cuts on the work and

’t finish things. We are still
correcting things that they messed-up and finishing jobs that weren’t completed
(caulking, patching, etc.).

Tile and roof work that was done had to be redone by him and is still very sloppy. Did not complete eveything that was to be done (sealing the tile and grouting). He also butchered my brick chinmey. He left a one inch gouge from multiple cuts into the brick (if at first you don't succeed, try, try again) and slopped in a bunch of clear caulk. Looks like he used recycled flashing to repair the chimney. DO NOT USE HIM EVER PLEASE. My money has been wasted because eveything he did has to be redone. My trusting wife paid him in full prior to finshing everything he promised and by contract. He was to come back and finish and never showed or called. I work a 24 hour shift and was not able to be there when the work was being performed. I have not heard from him and do not figure to ever hear from him again (classic cut and run). PLEASE DO NOT USE HIM, OLD SCHOOL RIP OFF. I can and would love to supply pics of work if there is any doubt. I do not like being ripped off!!!
