"My stainless steel kitchen sink had detached from the granite countertop because the silicon holding it up corroded and the installer, another company did a poor" job attaching it. I was able to get an appointment within a week. The 2 guys arrived on time, got right to work and finished within an hour. They were polite and happy workers.

"Oympia Marble and Granite is a company that gets some things really, really right – and other things woefully wrong. The good news: The installation of" our granite countertop was superior. The fabricators did an impeccable job; it was hard for me to find a seam anywhere until I realized that they had cut the stone in such a way that a single, small, almost invisible seam behind my kitchen faucet joined the two very large pieces. They also showed up on schedule, and worked quickly and efficiently to get the stone installed. It was truly an excellent experience. Before I write the bad news. I want to say that if this company is able to hire someone to coach their staff in the handling of customer service issues when customers run into problems with their products, it will be an A+ company. I
’t necessarily think they
’t want to help. I think they
’t have skills for trouble shooting with customers, and these skills can be learned by a staff willing to learn them. Here is what I think they need to learn: 1. Listen to the customer. If there is a problem or a question that the customer is experiencing, he/she will probably appear to be concerned – maybe even dissatisfied. Keep in mind that he/she is not coming to you to annoy or inconvenience you, but to get your help in solving a problem. What to say: "I want you to do X, Y, and Z, and if that does not solve the problem, call us and we will schedule an appointment to come out and look at your job." What not to say: " We install two or three of these countertops every week, and no one else has had this problem." Also, if said customer reports that he/she has already used X, Y, and Z to try to solve the problem without resolution,
’t say: "We have customers who use X, Y, and Z all the time to solve this problem, and it always works for them." 2. Keep promises. If you say you are going to call or come to the customer’s house by Friday, do what you say your are going to do by Friday. 3. Show up on time. If you get tied up on a job, call the customer to let him/her know. If you forget to call: What to say: "My apologies for arriving almost 2 hours after the time we scheduled. I know your time is valuable. I should have called you. I’m sorry." What not to say (especially with incredulity): "Why are you getting upset? I couldn’t get here earlier. I was on another job!" 4. Say what is true. What to say if the customer asks if the particular granite in which he/she is interested is sturdy: "The product is sturdy in this way (X,Y ,Z) but it can be vulnerable in this way (X.Y, Z.)"" What not to say: "This is indestructible" (especially since the product can be googled by a customer who is somewhat wiser than I was.) What to say if the customer is concerned that the spray product you are recommending to treat the kitchen countertop might be toxic: Consider his/her concerns with an open mind, and reply "Can you explain your concern about toxicity to me? We want to make sure you are satisfied with our product." What not to say: "It was approved by the Food and Drug Administration" (especially if the label on the spray can reads “WARNING: Harmful or fatal if swallowed.”) 5. Above all else, be civil. Do not raise your voice and speak over the customer, especially in your showroom.

Artificial (quartz) is cheaper, more uniform, has fewer voids to collect dirt, and is almost as abrasion and chip resistant.

Granite is more expensive, stains and collects dirt a little easier as a rule, and is slighly more chip resistant as a rule.

For durability, I would not rate one over the other - barring a 250 lb guy hopping up on it and cracking it, either is likely to outlive you. Selection is typically based on appearance - quartz tends to be more uniform looking and does not always do a good job of simulating the veining and variations that natural stone has.

?

Now some of the man made stone counters rival the real granite and othe stones without the maintainence of stone. There are many of them out there and it is more a choice of looks than anything else. Corian is still a strong choice of tops today and one advantage is it can be repaired when scratched on site. If you don't mind the maintainence you can't beat the looks of real stone though unless you need a few pieces to make up the top as the graining may be hard to match up. I am impressed though at how realistic some of the man made products have become. It is more an issue of what brand are available in your area. Most all are made the same way with crushed stone and basically an epoxy binder used to make the sheets.

We shopped around a lot until we found MG Granite. Just when we were about to go with another provider we decided to stop by and see what they had. We were blown away!!

at MG was so helpful from the moment we walked in, their selection is huge, and their prices beat everyone else by FAR. We are so happy that we got quotes from other places first so when we got our quote from MG we knew we were getting a great deal. We were even able to upgrade the sink and get an upgraded

, and it was still much cheaper than any other place we had gone to. Install was very quick, they had completely finished the entire process in less than a week from our visit to their location. It looks amazing, we couldn't have asked for better quality or workmanship. Looking forward to working with MG in the future when we get to do our bathroom!

They called in advance like I had asked. When they arrived they explained what was going to be done. They answered any questions I had and informed me how to take care of the granite in the future. Not much more to say other then they came, they were friendly, they did their job, answered all my questions, and gave me advice on how to deal with granite in the future.

The workmanship was very poor. I should have know when they spelled caulking as

on their estimate. One person showed up to do the counters and floors. Another person for the caulk and sealing. The caulk person used a blade and damaged the edges of the marble and granite counter tops. Clear silicone was used instead of matching the caulk color to the surface. Awful end result.

was unwilling to do it right and was visibly angry when requested to honor the agreement. Marble counters and travetine floors were left with scratches and hazed up in appearance in a few days. The worker disappeared for hours for lunch on the most important day of the job. don't waste your time or money with this outfit. They were the most expensive (3 times the cost) and did a horrible job. Do not be fooled by the initial appearance of know how to justify the high price. Always ask if they use subcontractors and if so, go elsewhere. Angie list members that focus on marble repair and maintenance with A rating is your best option. Most are much cheaper and do a significantly better job.

Very good. Arived on time, installed quickly. Returned to check on concerns even though there was no fault in their installation. They suggested design and revised their suggestions when visiting the home. We love the design and installation.

I used

because of favorable Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed.
Franklin Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
is really into stone. It shows in the pride he takes in his work.
Franklin Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
and his helper cleaned, polished and resealed our granite kitchen counters, replaced the caulking that was done incorrectly with grout. He was able to remove most of the surface scratches but could not get all of them out due to our neglect on our part. Granite was installed in 2003 and we've done absolutely nothing since then. He also removed stains and scratches from a marble bathroom vanity that we've also neglected.
We have a 1929 stone tile floor in one bathroom and he was able to clean it and seal it. We also had him test worn tile in another bathroom. Although he couldn't restore the damaged tile, he was able to demonstrate that it would be much cleaner once he works on it. We intend to have him come back and do that work.
His prices are very reasonable and he gives Angie's List members a discount.
I highly recommend
Franklin Marble And Granite Companies Provider Name Locked
. As long as we have the counters and he stays in business, we intend to have him come back on an annual basis and polish and seal our counters.

has great ideas and is so knowledgeable and easy to work with. I am building a new house and, of course, did not think of using any other company. Their communication is great, installers are amazing, and prices competitive. I highly recommend them without reservation.

Quartz countertop was installed without a hitch. The marble was another story. First the counter was cut incorrectly on the edges leaving gaps. They assumed we would be installing side backsplashes but when they came to measure I made it clear there will be cabinets resting on top of the counter and no backsplashes can be installed so the cut must be perfect. In addition the marble piece used was not from the slab my wife had selected. They took both the counter and saddle back and found the slab my wife chose and recut the pieces. They went above and beyond to make this right. They opened their shop on the weekend to cut the pieces and installed it by Tuesday thereby limiting the delay on our construction progress. In addition they threw in some door saddles free of charge to make up for the error. In summary some mistakes were made but they owed up to them, ate the cost, and made them right. Can't ask for anything else!
