Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
came to look at the job and provided an estimate on the same day that I first made contact with him. He spent time listening to what our goals were and made excellent suggestions for our project. What really sold me was even though pouring a concrete patio would have meant more work for him, he advised against it due to settling of fill dirt.
Once we decided to use
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, Jedf explained it would be 3-4 weeks before he could get to us. Rain caused a delay in the projected start time which we understood to be out of his control.
Once he began, he worked consistently until the wall could be completed. He and his employees worked hard, stayed on task and were very polite and considerate. We now have a very sturdy, nicely finished block retaining wall.
We plan to use
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
for another project in the future. We were very pleased with our experience. Our final cost was at the lower end of the estimate we were given.

Of more than 4 chimney contractors we called after noticing cracks in the stuccoed chimney,
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
was the only one who told us seepage through the cracks would erode the bricks, so the entire chimney needed to be replaced. The others all wrote up a contract for stucco replacement only. We accepted
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
's bid because his explanation made the most sense. The proof was in the tear-down, when the bricks crumbled to dust. If we'd gone with any of the other chimney companies, we would have been stuck with a contract for stucco replacement, which as it turns out was the last thing we needed (stucco doesn't make a whole lot of sense in this rainy climate) - but no chimney rebuild at significant added expense.
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
no doubt saved us big bucks by correctly assessing the scope of the problem. He and his crew were careful not to damage our plants and coordinated their work around the roofing contractor's schedule (Raindrop Roofing; they're also excellent). I recommended 2 Friends Masonry to a friend after our job was done, and
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
solved big problems for her, too. Our new chimney looks nice and maintains the architectural integrity of the 1936 house.

was great! Communications were handled by the lead contractor, but while he was at the house, he was very courteous. His knowledge and professionalism in his area of expertise is extremely high. His work ethic, attention to detail, and job site cleanliness is unparalleled.
The granite counters were mounted seamlessly, with the back splash behind the counters going all the way up to the bar, which also was done in granite. Cutouts were made in the back splash for the two power outlets, which were replaced by an electrician to match the color of the granite (blue pearl; very dark). Since the granite was purchased in 9 foot slabs, there were several feet left over.

used the remainder of the granite to make a back splash for the

I would (and do) recommend

I met with and took 9 different bids before I decided on
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
.
I have a 3 flu chimney all surrounded by brick up in the middle of a high pitched roof.
Most bids were from various chimney experts and sweeps. Bids were all over the board.
Discussions with these other bids were varied in the work that needed to be done.
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
is a mason. A specialist in brick and stone.
The bid was fair in price and the work was excellent.
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
was very customer friendly and offered professional advice for care of the chimney.
After two months, his
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
point job is flawless and exactly what I wanted.
My advice- Beware of chimney sweep companies if you need brick work done. Use a professional mason.

When the original work was done (Sept., 2013), the crew arrived promptly and the job was completed in 2 days, as promised. Upon completion, the driveway looked gorgeous, as I stated in a previous favorable review in March, 2014. Some issues arose later (probably as a result of the very bad winter weather we had), leading to a more negative update of that review on
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
5, 2014. I am now replacing the
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
5th review for two reasons:

1) A MISUNDERSTANDING:

Because I had originally been pleased, and was reluctant to write a negative update, I first sent an e-mail directly to
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros. through their personal website to resolve directly with them some problems that had arisen later on (probably as a result of the bad winter). When I hadn't heard back from them after a week, I contacted Angie's List for suggestions. They said I needed to first update my first (favorable) review, and give a grade of at least "C" so their Complaint Resolution section could intervene and act as mediator. I told Angie's List that before doing that, I would give
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros. more time to respond, since they had been responsive before. Another week or so went by and I still heard nothing, so thinking they were ignoring me and the problems, I then updated the review and Angie's List helped by contacting them. I just learned on Aug. 17th that
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros. never saw my e-mail, because since joining Angie's List, they only check those e-mails (which they are alerted to).
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
visited me today and said that had I phoned him or sent an e-mail through Angie's List, he would have responded immediately, as he really had done in the past. Meanwhile, I had assumed he would definitely receive an e-mail sent through his personal website. So that was an unfortunate misunderstanding, which

to the negative review update and Angie's List intervention.

2) PROBLEMS RESOLUTIONS:

When
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
was here on Aug. 17, he spent a lot of time explaining and showing me why water was getting into the garage and why he believes it is not a result of the masonry work. His explanation made sense. Despite that, he offered to caulk with silicone under the siding where it meets the concrete, at no additional cost to me, which I felt was more than fair.

Regarding the crack: While consulting other experts, I learned that no one can guarantee that concrete won't crack.
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
offered to patch it (also at no charge), but suggested we wait to see if it has stabilized, because excavating it and filling it would look worse (also confirmed by other consulted companies). He said that if the crack remains stable, especially through the winter, it would not deteriorate further. I guess only time will tell, but If it does increase in size, he would then immediately excavate it and fill it, also at no additional cost.

Regarding the patch job of the front sidewalk and end of my front path (which was a temporary fix they had done at no charge): Since the cement didn't hold,
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
offered to now fully remove and replace the three complete flags involved, at no new charge. I felt that was very generous.

Aside from these problems, which developed later after a horrible winter, the cement work still looks beautiful.
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
&
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
couldn't have been more gracious . Most importantly, I have renewed faith in
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros. and their work. He is honest and has integrity, which is very important, and has shown he stands by his work and is willing to resolve any issues. Addition: My biggest surprise came this morning (the next day, Aug. 18, 2014) when a
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros.crew arrived to do the work! That was faster than I ever expected. Really amazing! I would definitely recommend
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
Bros.

Initially he was very responsive. He came to the house and gave us a very reasonable quote. When we called him to actually have the work completed he never returned our calls. We went with another company.

I called
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
(Mumtaz) on Friday and they showed up promptly on Saturday at 8:30. The job was to paint the exterior wood on two brick houses and clean the gutters.$1200 for the paint work and $200. for cleaning out the gutters. Much of the work was done up on 30' ladders and the rest up on 20' ladders. They came well prepared with all the necessary equipment. I'd requested a premium house paint (
Dayton Masonry Contractors Provider Name Locked
, primer and paint combined) and they brought 3 gallons, which was included in the price. They worked steadily from 8:30 to 12:30, scraping and brushing off the old loose paint. They painted carefully and avoided and spills or dripping. After lunch they continued on until 5:00. They secured the site and left it clean. They showed up the next morning on time and went right to work. This time only one man, Joen, came but he was more than capable and an excellent worker. He finished up the painting and the gutters while up on the 30' ladder. He checked, cleaned and adjusted the gutters for the proper pitch. The work was completed by 4;00 and the site was cleaned up well. Payment was 50% Saturday and 50% Sunday when completed. A job well done!
