"They were very communicative and kept us informed. They were a little late but let us know. They came the date they said they would and worked efficiently and competently." We are very happy with the outcome and will definitely have them back to seal it the next time it is needed.

-Joyce K.

"2-man crew cleaned driveway first then filled cracks. They followed with a nice even coat of sealer. Looks much better than previous jobs. I will use them again next year.

Generally about $1-3/SF (note - measured by SF, not SY) - $1 range is for a 1 to 1/2-2 inch overlay, $2.50-3.00 range normal for two 2" layers for a new driveway or a rebuild (remove and replace) you really want to last.

Most people pay around $2/SF for a 2-3" thickness.

If the state requires a contractor's license, then he needs to have a license in each state he intends to work in - plus state/local business licenses as applicable.

This does not mean there are not a lot of contractors who cross state lines without proper licensing - the penalties in may cases are not real severe and are just a fine, not criminal, so many take the chance.

As you say - argh  - many contractors are not really businessmen and have zero legal education, so many people get burned.

Asphalt Paving reviews in Columbia

He did a very nice job on repaving the driveway a couple of years ago but told me I should seal coat it the following year. I scheduled it twice last year and he never showed and after multiple calls it became too late in the Fall so he was supposed to do it this year. I had it scheduled twice and he never showed or called again. The last time I called ...More about a month ago he assured me he would be out the following week but I never heard back. If they originally told me they were too busy then I could have gotten someone else but now again it's too late in the Fall to do it. It appears if the job is not big enough they could care less.

Excellent service! was highly knowledgeable and professional. The previous driveway was very buckled and cracked and had a shallow base of stone. recommended excavating 12 inches and providing a water resistant liner, then filling with stone, and he explained his reasoning. However, unexpectedly, there ...More was water seepage at the 12" depth even though there had been no rain for a few weeks. He showed me the problem, which was obvious. This was an unexpected occurrence and he recommended excavating another 6 inches deeper, which would require additional stone for the base. He apologized and said he would cover the labor for free but would need to charge for additional stone, to which I agreed. As it happened, even at 18 inches there was wetness, and continued excavating until he had dug out a full two feet, but he did not charge for these extra 6 inches of labor or stone. He lined the dug area with a water resistant , filled it with two feet of stone and covered the area with asphalt. It is very smooth and even.
This was all done in a timely manner. always returned phone calls quickly and he and his crew were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend him.

We had some weather delays but they kept me informed on when they would be able to complete the work. Now the job is finished and we couldn't be happier. If you need pavement call these guys, very professional, courteous, and prompt.

Fantastic!!!! Although not the cheapest, you get what you pay for. Extremely meticulous. Went above and beyond. Did what was needed and then some. Great crew! Clean, quality and professional. I don't think we will ever need a new parking lot again. The time and care they took for every detail was incredible. Perfectionist. Everything ...More you would want.
Can not stress enough the amazing job they did!!
- Christopher R.

It went great. from did our estimate and described to us in good detail what the scope of work would be. They did the job in two days including grading, leveling with stone, and then paving. We are very happy with the results.

We were really excited to find and at the beginning of the summer with immediate availability to re-pave our driveway in time for the kids to enjoy it all summer! Most local companies were booked through with work from the previous year that got delayed. We got our permit and ...More were all set for the work to begin. All things seemed to be going well until...
1. The guys doing the work realized there were 2 layers of asphalt and called back to investigate. They told me that we would have a better base if they left it. They didn't need to use the truck of gravel or the extra few inches of asphalt, not to mention time, but I was only given a $300 discount. Seemed light, but they were halfway done with the project there was no turning back now. It also frustrated me a little that we didn't actually NEED the permit since they didn't need to relay the base. Seemed strange for "professionals' to miss this. Another $170ish dollars and a few hours of missed work wasted.
2. I should have looked closer when the job was completed but in my rush to get back to work I overlooked a bubble in the driveway right where we all walk into the house. The toddlers kept tripping on it, looks like the steamroller missed the corner and there's just enough slant to puddle. It drives me nuts everytime I walk in the house
3. For over 2 months now (maybe longer) I have been trying to get in touch with to fix this blemish - now the asphalt plants are probably closing for the season! A few weeks of phone tag and finally one of 's sons made it out while I was at work. He was able to provide a quote for seal coating ($280 ouch), but no information on the repair so I waited for to call me. No calls, I called back, and called again. finally called back and set up an appointment for a Sat to stop by, I circled the area and made some notes just in case we weren't home. WAS A NO SHOW! So I called back, and called back again (do you see a pattern here) - now there has been no response for 3 weeks and I'm frustrated enough to write this review.
I've given plenty of opportunities to make this right. I even recommended them to a coworker who also had them do her driveway. It's possible they got a job with my neighbor too. Is this how you treat a customer who referred you for additional business? I'm disappointed in how this experience ended with and his company. I typically like to support family run businesses, but this is some of the worst customer service I've experienced.
Maybe I should have questioned why they were the only paving company with openings??
Still looking for a response from the company, maybe this will get some action. I promise it was probably an easy fix a few months ago and now you just have a disappointed customer to contend with.
Thank you.

when I met with the sales guy, Sticha, in , I explained that another driveway company said they couldn't guarantee that they could get the job done before it snowed. laughed and said "it's only ! I GUARANTEE your driveway will be done before ...More it snows"... so I hired them. I have called this company several times to find out what the plan is for my driveway, and was finally told (on the week of October 26th) that my driveway would be installed the week of November 9th, weather permitting. It's now November 16th, and I still have no driveway. They tore out the existing driveway and replaced the apron, but the asphalt hasn't been installed and I have heard excuse after excuse about why they haven't done it. Which always seems to be related to the weather. With winter rapidly approaching, we are now in a situation where we might not have a driveway (or access to our garage) for the entire winter. Today when I called, I was told "we've had so many raid days over the last 2 weeks that it has pushed everything back". He couldn't even give me an idea of when they would be out because they are "so far behind"... I then asked what happens if we get snow next week, to which he said, then we'll have to wait until spring to do your driveway. Here is the "observed" weather for my zip code (according to Weather.com) since the first of November: 11/1 - partly cloudy, 38 degrees 11/2 - partly cloudy, 46 degrees 11/3 - fair, 70 degrees 11/4 - cloudy, 61 degrees 11/5 - cloudy, 65 degrees 11/6 - cloudy, 46 degrees 11/7 - fair, 48 degrees 11/8 - sunny, 59 degrees 11/9 - sunny, 61degrees 11/10 - partly cloudy, 61 degrees 11/11 - mostly cloudy, 53 degrees (evening/overnight rain = .86 inches) 11/12 - cloudy/windy, 45 degrees (early morning rain = .36 inches) 11/13 - sunny, 44 degrees 11/14 - sunny, 41 degrees 11/15 - clear, 41 degrees (overnight rain)
I recommend finding a contractor that doesn't over promise and under deliver, and doesn't make excuses.

- Joseph B.

called a day before he wanted to sealcoat the driveway. His crew was in and out in less than 3 hours. He edged around the driveway before applying seal to limit any grass that was covering the driveway. It was very easy and they did an excellent job.
