"Started off well. Made an appointment, went in and met with a sales associate. The associate was helpful in selecting an air tub; and, she identified all the in-wall hardware needed for the faucets and shower. A day or so later the bid was ready and emailed. We emailed a couple of questions back and forth before ordering and paying for the tub, toilet and faucets. The order comes in over the next 10 days or so. All good thus far.
Meanwhile, we decide on light fixtures and place that order. The lights are due to come in within a week, except for 1 which was backordered. This was the last communication we would have from the sales associate.
About a week later, the contractor was ready to schedule the electrician and plumber. I sent the sales associate an email requesting the light fixtures be delivered. Strangely, the associate didn't reply. A couple days go by. The contractor is ready to put the tub in -- but there is no overflow-drain among all the plumbing parts. It was left off the bid and wasn't ordered. Oversights happen; but, the associate was suppose to take care of getting all the in-wall hardware and just missed this. The contractor can't proceed on the tub without the part.
To order the drain, I call

She says she will follow up and get right back to me. 4 or 5 hours later she calls back and says the part will have to be ordered. I give the credit card number and ask for it to be expedited. This is on a Thursday.

"They were very competent with the carpentry and drywall. Their tile subcontractor was very good, but he needed to work during the evening, which was bothersome. The electrical guy seemed OK, but there was no extensive electrical work. I fired his plumber and hired an outside company. Vibrant insisted on doing most of the purchasing, which was fine with me. They grossly overestimated the amount of tile required. As it was a special order, it was non-returnable. This matter, which I estimate to be an over charge of $750 - $1000, is still in dispute. Vibrant is not returning calls."

Note: (this is what I have learned) MOST reputable home improvement people will not ask for anything but a deposit to pay for supplies and paint before finishing the work.
The total price was $4000.00. They had agreed to work $800 out with me doing a website for them.They wanted ($1200) down to start. The time frame was ridiculously delayed but I was being nice and worked with them because I thought they were on the "up and up" and that they could get most done when we went on vacation.. They worked 1-1 1/2 days and then THEY went on vacation for 10 days (the day we came back home).
We came back to hardly ANYTHING done plus the biggest mess imaginable as well as piles of wood and nails thrown up in my driveway. Not fun!
After their vacation, 10 days later (after I got back from mine), they called and said they were coming to finish but needed another $800.The remaining balance ($800) I was going to be in trade by doing them the nice website. I had already produced a new logo for them and secured their domain name.
Their website was in process but we do good work and it takes time. They kept acting like they weren't getting paid when I had already paid them at least $1000 over the work they had done-They said they had finished the all of work outside-another lie. They said they had tried to come work several days but it was not convenient with me. PURE BS. The main day in question was the 4th of

I lost at least $1000 on the deal. I would NOT recommend AHI and learned ALOT if I ever have to hire someone for painting or home improvement jobs in the future.

"Not negotiable on price in the beginning, I asked a lot of question and posed possible problems. Each question generated an increase in the installed price. I was hoping to avoid major change orders after start of construction. There were no change orders after signing the contract except for items we added. We added an air tub after signing the contract and were offered a showroom demo combination air jacuzzi for less than the air only tub. We were a little disappointed in quality of cabinets after selecting a higher than standard grade cabinet. We selected very plain cabinets with no trim, no fancy edges something very plain and easy to clean. If there was any question about how something was to be finished or completed, we were always given the option and work was completed to our satisfaction. They covered our hardwood floors with moving blankets during the construction. They cleaned up every night, hauled off demo materials and scraps, and made an effort to minimize dust in the rest of the house.
