When finished he noticed a couple of spots that did not cover very well with the paint, most likely due to some left over silicon caulk that was difficult to remove and very difficult to see originally. It only showed up because the paint had a hard time sticking to it, as expected.

"The job expanded slightly as some of the paint I provided did not fully cover the trim and therefore an additional coat was required. It took a little longer than" originally planned due to the extra work required. The workman were very diligent and thorough with their painting. The job was done with minimal disruption and they cleaned up well afterwards. The contractor,
supervised the job and immediately followed up on minor items that needed attention after the job was done. All in all an excellent painting company.

That's very difficult to answer without seeing the house. As one poster said, the prep is the most important part. On newer homes that don't have a lot of peeling paint, the prep can be very minimal even as low as a couple or a few hundred dollars for the prep labor.

On a 100 year old home with 12 coats of peeling paint on it, then the prep costs can be very high and can easily exceed 50% of the job's labor cost.

A 2100 sq ft two story home could easily cost $1000 just for the labor to prep for the paint job. That number could climb too. Throw in lots of caullking  or window glazing, and you could be talking a couple or a few hundred dollars more for labor.

Painting that home with one coat of paint and a different color on the trim could run roughly $1000 or more just for labor. Add a second coat  and that could cost close to another $1000 for labor.

For paint, you may need 20 gallons of paint. You can pay from $30-$70 for a gallon of good quality exterior paint. The manufacturer of the paint should be specified in any painting contract. Otherwise, the contractor could bid at a Sherwin-Williams $60 per gallon paint and then paint the house with $35 Valspar and pocket the difference. $25 dollars per gallon times 20 gallons? That's a pretty penny too.

That was the long answer to your question. The short answer is $2000 to $4000 and up, depending upon the amount of prep, the number of coats, the amount of trim, and the paint used.

Hair spray is one of those things that is really bothersome.  We've run into this alot unfortunately.  And NOTHING we've found will actually clean it off.  The problem is that if you just paint over it, you still see shiny spots wherever the hairspray was.

Our companie's policy is to prime the area with any bonding primer.  This will seal the hairspray in and not let it affect the next coat of paint.  It would also be a good idea to lightly sand the area first.

Our recommendation for primer would be Zinsser's BIN Spray (red can) and can be bought at most paint stores or home improvement stores.  Other than that, any thing that specifically says "bonding" for a primer should be adequate enough.

Without seeing the project I'm not sure exactly what is happening.  HOWEVER, I've never heard of someone "floating" over paint blisters - just logically that can't work.  If air or moisture are trapped (because that's what causes blisters) painting over them won't fix the initial problem.

I have a couple suggestions - My first would have been to contact the paint manufacturer - whether it's sherwin williams, benjamin moore, behr, etc. to see if they would send a rep out to give their recommendation.  We have done this before starting a project to get the best possible recommendation for work to be done and have found them to be very helpful in diagnosing what is currently going on and the best way to fix it.

If that doesn't work, I would call either the better business bureau or maybe the local paper if your contractor isn't willing to work through the problem with you.  Also, If your contractor warrantied the work I might re-read that to see what they cover if anything.

My guess is that there will have to be some sort of dispute resolution process.

Hope this helps!

Yes - absolutely!  Refinishing is THE VERY BEST way to go to avoid tearing out a perfectly good bathtub that just LOOKS bad after years of use.  Go to the link below for some before and after refinishing pictures of acrylic tubs.

was our contact and was great to work with. He was on time and very detailed with the quote. We picked them to do the work after getting a few other quotes. They were able to work us in quickly due to a weather cancellation. The painters were prompt and did a great job covering our floors and belongings. The work was done in the time frame we had discussed and the walls and ceilings look wonderful. Would hire them to paint the other half of my house if I could afford it!

showed up on time and it only took him one week to finish! He was very professional and I believe gave his honest opinion when helping us pick out the style of tile and paint we needed. He was very accommodating when it came to us having to move our things around so he could get the job done. We will definitely be using him for our next job, big or little.

We recently moved into a 30 year old brick house with wood windows and wood soffits/fascia. The wood and the brick were completely painted by

13 years ago. The RhinoShield has fully protected all of the wood beautifully with the exception of where the gutters were completely clogged up for years and they overflowed and damages some of the soffits and fascia. The coating is extremely tenacious and sticks so well that it appears to become part of the material. The areas that were extremely soaked with water from the gutters had areas of the material that separated from the wood and was coming off in large sheets resembling rubber sheeting.

at RhinoShield got me in contact quickly with their estimator,

, who came out, looked everything over and gave me a fair written quote. Some additional work was discovered once the gutters were removed and this was priced and added to the contract. They gave me options, including replacing with PVC materials, and priced the extra work fairly.. Even though the work was priced as one job, RhinoShield worked with me to do the work at the same price in two phases as we were concurrently cleaning a really nasty metal roof and they left the unfinished roof area's gutters in place to catch the bleach and slime so it would stay away from the house.

did the work quickly and professionally. They protected our plants and our animals and did some adjusting to the work at no charge as the job progressed. . The stuff really works. The fact that you get a 25 year transferrable warranty is nice, but who wants to deal with claims on a warranty. I can tell you what I found on the 13 year old job. This material has kept the windows and door frames looking like new. Those areas at the bottom of the garage door and walk door frames don't have a speck of deterioration. If you have wood on the outside of your house, you will be very happy with this product.

We purchased this as an Angie's deal. These guys are hard workers. The work done was excellent and exactly what we asked for. They were extremely courteous and honest. There were no add on costs. In fact they saved us money on paint. I can honestly say that this was the best service we have ever had performed for us through Angie's list. They cleaned up completely on completion of the work. I would definitely recommend them to others and would use them again.

They pressure washed the first day and painted the second. They did a good job prepping the house and masking everything off so that paint only went where it was supposed to go. I thought their price was fair and I'm definitely happy with the end result. I enjoyed speaking with the owners when they came by both days, they seem like really nice guys.
I liked them enough to call them back out to re-coat my patio deck a few days later. They patched and re-coated it and it turned out as good as the house did. They promised to do a good job and they delivered. I couldn't ask more than that.

It went beautifully. I cannot sing enough the praises of Bill

and his team. They were punctual, stayed with the original estimate, and the professionalism was without par. The original estimate included every detail of the work they were going to undertake, so I was faced with no surprises. When I wanted some remedial repair done, after movers moved my furniture into the house,

I highly recommend this company.

The service went very well. I paid an additional fee for additional square footage and higher quality paint. At least 3- 4 painters came out and completed the job about a week. They were professional and did use ecofriendly paint and primer. They were very experienced painters and great with the cleanup after the service. I had no problem scheduling the deal.
