I've rarely had such a bad customer experience and I've gone through it twice. I purchased a Stihl Trimmer a few years ago and when I asked them a few questions they laughed as though I were an idiot. For some reason I went back recently and bought a Stihl chainsaw. There's a young guy in there, assuming a member of the family, who couldn't care less about service. It's like you're taking his valuable time to be his customer. While I was finishing the deal at the
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
he called someone over to finish the transaction because he got a phone call. He walks across the room, sits down and starts chatting. No "thanks for buying" no smile, nothing. The employees seemed apologetic. It's too bad this is the only Stihl dealer in this area.

I got the gift card in the mail and used it to buy stuff. Doesn't get any easier than that the worst part of the experience was stupid angies list hounding me for a review by blowing up my phone with calls and emails. I get it you want a review your site runs off of reviews...it was a 20 dollar gift card let it go!!!

This is a mixed review: Otherwise good service spoiled by a couple of bad apples.
In short I needed to buy about $7,500 worth of materials and flooring for a remodel project. All of the positive things I have to say about the service at this
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
(and in my experience other HD and Lowes stores) assumes that you shop during regular business hours. If you need help finding something after 5:00, forget about it. You might as well shop in the middle of the desert! haha
My specific review of this
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
has to start with how impressed I have been with some of the employees in the store.
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
in Flooring,
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
in Pro-Services, and some guy in the door department whose name I forget were all great. (My apologies if I have the names wrong of the other guys, as I'm only 90% I'm remembering them correctly.)
The problem I have with this HD is this:
I needed 950 sq feet of hardwood or laminate flooring and 450 sq feet of carpet for a house I am remodeling. After comparison shopping, my carpet choice came down to a Flooring America product or one from
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
. The bid from Flooring America (Centeron) was for $960 for everything (carpet, pad, install, and tax). HD's was going to be about $20 more, but I went
with HD nonetheless, moreso out of convenience than anything else since I was buying the rest of my supplies from there.
Now bear with me while a change gears for a moment: As for the laminate, HD had a special on intallation of laminate flooring for $499 for the whole house, up to 1000 sq. ft. on any laminate over $1.50/sq ft. purchase with a qualifying under-laminate. Not surprisingly, they have a bunch of laminate around a dollar a square foot, and a bunch about $3/sq, but not hardly anything around $1.50. They did, however, have a nice enough laminate for $1.39/sq. ft. I asked if I could get installation special on that laminate since I was spending about $5k with them on the project and was told no. I then asked if they could up-charge it .11 sq. ft. so that it would qualify and was told, "yes". So I scheduled a measurement.
Getting the meaurement scheduled, or rather getting the measure done in a timely manner is a whole other story - the delay in which cost me a few hundred dollars because another promo for 10% off the entire purchase (of over $5k) expired while waiting on the measurement to be done a week and a half later because the measure HAD to be done before I could make the purchase during the promo period (which expired the DAY before the measurement was done). ARG!!!!!!!!! (BTW, whining about this to customer service was worthless.)
So back to the real story... When the measurements finally arrived at the store, the guy helping me in flooring saw in the notes that I was going to pay $1.50/sq ft for the $1.39 laminate I chose. He laughed and said he was not going to
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
up the flooring 11 cents a square foot but that he'd give me the special installation price anyway. I thanked him for the gesture.
So at this point, all is good save a couple of frustations: (1) the approximate $500 discount I lost due to a promo expiring while I waited a week and a half for someone from HD to measure the flooring; and (2) the fact that according to HD's own measurement, I had 940 sq feet to be floored in laminate. Their special installation price was for "up to 1000 feet". Now I understand that when you have 940 square feet of floor space, that you will undoubtedly need to buy more product than that to account for cuts and partial pieces and such, generally to the tune of approximately 10%. I get that. What I do not get, is that while they sell you 10% more product (unused boxes of which can be returned), they also charge you installation on the "extra" product. So since this estimated extra 10% of product pushed the total square footage OF PRODUCT over 1000 sq feet, I got charged an extra hundred buck or so for the estimated square footage of PRODUCT purchased, regardless of the actual square footage of the floor space to be covered! Having to buy extra product, I understand; having to pay for installation on it above the actual square footage to be covered, I do not. Nonetheless, I was told by some guy name
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
that is normal. One other contractor I know says it's not; and yet another says it is. In the end, though, you should know that
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
is going to charge you installation on 10% more flooring than you actually have in your house! (Quick side note: When you return the unused flooring that you were told to buy in excess of your actual floor space, they do NOT refund the installation you paid for on that excess, unused flooring unless you are prepared to make a stand and waste a lot of time dealing with the matter. (I sound like I argue and cause a scene, don't I? I really don't as I don't want to embarrass myself or those around me.)
So back to the biggest issue... After I paid for the Carpet (yes, we've switched gears back to the carpet now), I examine my receipt that evening to realize that I was charged all sorts of extras that I had not been explained to me. About $300 worth of extras. I went to HD the next day and asked about the "extra" charges. I was directed to a guy named
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
. I did not like nor appreciate
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
's customer service attitude. He expained that since I wasn't charged the extra 11 cents on the flooring that I should just consider it a wash and not worry about it. (In case you're wondering, that still left about 2 - 3 hundred dollars "I shouldn't worry about". This conversation went downhill very fast. In short order, I told
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
to cancel my carpet order (so I could take that business to Flooring America where they later did exactly what they said they would at the exact price they quoted), and to do "whatever he had to do" about the 11 cents that the guy in flooring said they would NOT charge me for, and that if his pleasantries went any further, that I'd return my entire $5,000 purchase from the day before. (Can you tell I didn't like this guy's attitude? What's funny is that everytime his name is mention around the store by me, the reaction I get from co-workers is unequivocal. Enough said,
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
?)
Much to my surpise, the guy ACTUALLY deducted the additional .11/sq. foot from my refund on the carpet that I cancelled after I discovered the
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
charges on. Really?!! I understand that I was agreeable to paying the 11 cents intially, but it just rubs me wrong that HD said they would not charge me for that until I returned a product and they then said something to the effect of, "well in that case....!"
I called the next day to share my experience with a store manager. I learned they don't have a store manager right now and that the store manager's duties are being shared by the three assistant managers. So I left a message that was returned, but that i missed, so I returned that message to learn none of the acting managers were available at that time, so I left another message that was never returned.
End of story. The bottom line is (1) don't buy carpet there without getting a written estimate of all charges first so you can compare apples to apples, and (2) WHATEVER you do, don't have deal with
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
.
A final side note is that while the pro-services guys are great (at least
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
, whom i dealt with was), it's not worth your time and energy to go that route. The saving was MINIMAL and in now way worth the added time for both purchases and [especially] returns.

Buyer beware. I thought because they were so prompt prior to install that all would go smoothly. They came to measure, all went well. They came to install and the guys were nice but seemed in a hurry to be done for the day. The guy said yeah we've been driving for 8 hours and my son is in the hospital so I need to get back soon. I felt sympathetic and was chit chatting with them. Once they left I noticed so many issues. I called the next day and they said I had to go to Home Depot to file a work order, which I did. Home Depot called and they called and told me it would be the following Monday before anyone could come out. They then called Tuesday and said someone would be out the next day. We waited and waited, noone showed. The next day, no phone call. I went to Home Depot and told them what happened. At this point they called NF Granite directly and the lady said oh yeah, sorry he forgot to call. So they said well we can get someone out there next Friday and then they will bring the granite with the cutx back the following week. (This assuming that they show on this appointment)
Meanwhile I have company coming and mirrors and sinks that I can't reinstall until this issue is fixed. I ended up telling Home Depot to give me a refund on my backsplashes and I would just fix it on my own or live with it. They gave me a refund. I then had a mirror guy come out and he explained that the cut of my granite and what I want to do, requires this one space to be filled in. I went to Home Depot and asked if I could get a 21 3/4 in backsplash cut and they said nope sorry! OMG!!!! So meanwhile, everyone in this area has said well you shouldn't have gone through home depot. I then called NF Granite directly and they said oh let me see what we can do, we'll call you tomorrow. Guess what? Haven't heard anything. I have had to contact Silestone directly. I hope they can get this one piece to me!

I can't express the magnitude of the incompetence I experienced. It took 1 year for them to finish my doors, and technically they aren't done yet. One of the door hinges started coming undone about 1 month after install, and I am still waiting for it to be fixed. It's a really long story but I first ordered the doors late
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
of 2013. They tried to charge me double the cost after my initial down payment, and it took about 45 minutes to get the prices right. Then the doors came, and they weren't the right size. I had to wait 6-8 weeks for the replacements. They came, and 2 out of 3 were right, but my storm doors weren't right. Another 6-8 weeks goes by. The storm doors go in, but they still have my French doors wrong. Wrong size again. Another 6-8 weeks go by and the doors are right size, but wrong style. This goes on a couple of more times and leads me to August 2014. I year to install 3 doors. There were other issues with customer service and delivery also. I could have written a 4 page review going into detail, but I tried to condense this because even just writing this has me so upset again. I should have asked for my money back at least 5 times through this and went with another company, but I was assured I would be compensated for the extended delays. Not to mention my heating costs that would have been significantly lower with efficient doors, especially when you consider the winter we had. I haven't received any compensation, however, and I will NEVER shop at
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
again. I purchased my home in November 2012 and until this fiasco, I had spent around $12-15,000 at
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
. They lost a valuable customer and all I can say is STAY AWAY from
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
. I couldn't possibly imagine anyone else doing a worse job.

I had to make several calls to check on the status of my lawn tractor because of the weather and my grass was getting a little

We should have left when we were there for over an hour before anyone came to help us. When someone finally came to help us, they just said "go pick out what you want". We had no idea what we were looking at. We knew that we wanted carpet and vinyl, but that was all we knew for sure. Our house has both cement and wood floors. Which product was best for which application. We were doing the entire house and we couldn't get the help we needed. One sales person told us that
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
does their own installation, and another sales person told us no, they contract it out. Well, I can tell you because I now know, they contract out carpet and vinyl installations. They sent someone out to measure our home. We were told that we would receive an estimate for if we took out our carpet vs
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
taking out the carpet. We were lead to believe that it would be substantial if we wanted to do it. We went home and immediately started pulling up carpet, pad and vinyl (
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
doesn't remove old vinyl) and hauling it off . Well, we would never have done it ourselves if we had known how little we were going to be reimbursed. The salesman told us "this is a turn-key job". We're still looking for the key. we've never worked so hard in our live. They never let us know who was going to do what when. We had to wait until the installer came out to find out what if anything we needed to move on each day. We found out who was going to be doing the installation and called them to see if they were going to come out to see what they were going to need to do because we had concerns about some of our wooden floors. First we were told that everything was fine only to find out that it wasn't. Part of it had to be replaced. They said we had to be two rooms ahead of the installers. We had to hurry
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
to get things moved. It was supposed to take two days for installation of the carpet and two days for the vinyl. It took seven days of work to get it all done. We never found out how many yards or sq ft we were looking at. We were never told where the seams were going to be or which direction the design would be going. (We were told that we would receive a printout of all that.) We found out when the installer was almost finished doing the room (which is kind of too late). When the vinyl came in, the factory had sent the wrong quantities.
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
flooring department or receiving didn't check it when it came in. I checked it and told the installer that I thought they had sent the wrong amounts. It was difficult to read/understand their labels.
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
said that it would take 2 weeks for the correct quantity to get in. Fortunately the
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
Installation Inspector happened to come by just then and we told her all that had been going on. She got it here in 3 days instead. They sent 37 sheets of underlayment. We only needed underlayment for 2 1/2 baths and a medium-sized kitchen. We sent back over 20 sheets plus a bunch of other things we paid for and didn't need. By my estimates, we paid about $7,000.00 for carpet, vinyl, etc. we were supposed to get the installation of carpet free because we bought the better carpet. So the remainder is for labor on vinyl? We tried to contact the salesman a few times but first he was helping someone but they would have him call us back. When he didn't return our call, we tried again. This time he was at lunch. He never returned any of our calls. Every day held a new challenge with

. Will we use

Overall we had a good experience.
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
built the fence, as requested and it looks very nice. The contractors who actually did the building were great, they made several changes to the fence at our request as they were building it. The main issues we had were poor communication from the sales person from
Walterboro Lumber Stores Provider Name Locked
who we worked with initially and his communication of what they were supposed to do to the contractors. Fence location and specific details about the fence installation (such as gate size) were not communicated to the builders. The builders/contractors were great and made the changes for us once we noticed things not going as we understood them. The other major issue was with the gates. After a short period of time they became impossible to open. It seems to be a combination of the incredibly cheap latch mechanism and the natural settling of the fence. We have had them come back out twice to "fix" the gates and we still have one that can't be opened.
We would definitely do business with this provider again, overall we had a good experience.
