Not really.  If the contractor is very careful and you are really lucky he might be able to pull them out and then reinstall them after the new cabinets are installed.  A lot of this will have to do with how well the counters were installed in the first place.  Also, the existing countertops may not line up with the new cabinets exactly in some areas as well as they do now.  The better option is to have the cabinets refaced, leaving the boxes and tops in place.  Unlless you have deteriorating particle board cabinets you should be able to get a carpenter to do this.  If you decide to remove the countertops and install new cabinets factor in new tops and be pleasantly surprised if they can be reinstalled afterall.  Realize you probably won't find a contractor willing to gurantee not damaging the tops.  If you do, dig in and research him well.  He likely doesn't have enough experience.

IF dirty enough to make for a musty odor, then paint won't stick to them properly anyway. Paint is not your solution - you probably need a Deep Cleaning. Try to pin down what types of smell it is - if damp, mildewy; rotten food; or musty fabric - will help guide you to the source maybe. Another thing to do is keep all doors closed for a full day when outside temp is such that furnace and A/C can be turned off - then walk around the house, sniffing - preferably with 2 people - and see if one room is the major contributor. I have played this game, and found all the following as sources of musty smells: 1) linen in a closet without ventilation going slightly mildewy 2) water leak in walls or floors enough to cause mold but not drywall staining or visible water 3) carpets needing cleaning 4) water leak in bath or kitchen leaking under floor, causing mold there which is not pronounced in smell because under the flooring 5) attic mildew/mold from leaks or moisture condensation on insulation/wood 6) moldy plants outside - left in garden/flower bed in fall, so rotted in winter/spring 7) clothes in closets touching outside wall, so in very cold weather acted as insulator and let freezing front come to inside of wall, causing frost and moisture to buildup there from the inside moisture, eventually causing mildew/mold (same process as condensation/ice on inside of windows with curtains over them) 8) failure to clean behind kitchen appliances and under sink, or under washer/dryer/dishwasher at least when repaired or changed out 9) heavy lint accumulation in bathroom fan going mildewy 10) grease trap in kitchen exhaust fan never cleaned 11) washing machine going moldy - run a cycle of towels or such with bleach and Borax 12) the number one cause I have found - clothes stacked in closets or hope chests or such for decades get very musty even if clean and ventilated

As long as the counter is big enough Corian is one of the easier ones to work with. Since it does not have the ground or crushed stone that some of the other material have you can work with normal woodworking tools. A saw with a fine tooth carbide blade and a professional grade router with the proper shaped carbde bit can be used if the edge needs finishing. A belt sander helps on cuts also. The only problem you might have is if you need the joint kits for seaming as I dont think you can buy them.

When Corian first came out I could buy the slabs and fabricate my own tops and then Dupont went to a certified distributor system and would no longer sell to those of us that had been working with it for years. I will admit that they did have reasons for this as not all that were working with the product were doing it right.

For these new cabinets we selected a single, off white color for all kitchen and bath
cabinets. But cabinet frames were painted two shades of off -white. Cabinet frames
were installed by owner who never seemed to notice this until we pointed it out.
When I mentioned this to the owner by phone, he told me it was a “shadow...More /> effect.” Then admitted yes, there were 2 colors. He did not know how this could
happen.
To correct the error of two colors on a large bathroom
cabinet where it was most noticeable due to the light, he had a professional
painter hand paint one side of the cabinet. Please see attached photo for how
this job was completed illustrating paint runs onto the stone counter-top.
Waited two and a half weeks for drawers and cabinet doors
after cabinet frames were installed.
Cabinets have been installed for approximately 6 weeks and
two doors have separated from hinges in this amount of time. The first time
this happened, the cabinet shop owner was on site, looked at the hinge
attachment, and advised the wrong size screws “might” have been used. We are
left to wonder how these doors will hold up over time if this has already
happened twice.
Several of the soft touch, self- closure mechanisms do not
work.
The owner had to return several times to fix a door that
sagged and repair trim that was not level.
When we sent a photo of the paint drips (shown on the attached photo)he now
seems annoyed.
The above information is factual, non-disputable.
Reportedly, this individual has been in the cabinet-making business for
decades. I guess it was just our bad luck that so many of these things happened
to our job. We seriously doubt that and urge potential consumers to choose a cabinet
maker carefully.

He started the job June 15th and was paid in full prior to all work being completed. Approximately
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
1st he broke my oven door and it is a fairly new oven and he promised to replace it and I am still waiting for it. He did order replacement glass for the oven but it was for the wrong side, he ordered back glass replacement but it was front glass that was broken and he stated he had to re order the piece. He also did not use anything to protect my countertops which I had just paid $3200 to replace prior to him installing the cabinets and tile, which was left for me to clean up myself. During the process of installing the cabinets and tile he had to fire two workers. One of the workers had a copy of my house key that was on a key chain and when I asked for it to be returned I was given back a key that was not my house key. I let him know I did not receive the correct key and he stated as far as he was concerned he returned the key and left it at that. Now I am concerned because I did not receive the correct key and this is a worker that has been fired. There was also glass from the tile left all over my driveway that I had to clean up as well. There were a few tiles installed on the wall that had lifted up and I contacted him about it, one of his workers came by and stated it needed to be drilled with a "diamond tip". I contacted the owner regarding the tile and his worker had not passed along the information. He also took out the molding of the floor board to install the pantry cabinet and never replaced the molding. It is a very small piece but is noticeable.

Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
is a dream contractor. He's a joy to work with: clear, responsive and flexible, responsible. He makes deadlines and keeps them. He both gives you control and is in control. He involves you in choices where your input is needed or helpful. His workers are courteous, clean (low footprint, clean up after every day), consistent (in and out same time every day). Incidentally, his sister Beate is a designer, and designed our addition which was thoughtful, beautiful, sensible, and flowed with our existing house--something
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
emphasized. Watching the two of them communicate and form a common vision was cool, with excellent results. PRICE: I did two competing bids;
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
's was on par. The initial bid was out of our budget;
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
worked with us, cut us some discounts and did line-item removal of some tasks to get within budget. I graded
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
a "A" here because he cut us breaks, and the excellent quality of the work, particularly for the cost. We told
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
early that we were cost-conscious, and he respected that. At every decision point, he would tell how much option A vs. B vs. C would cost, the pros and cons of each, with reasoned advice. His communication is superb: he asks the right questions, tells you when he needs something done (e.g., electrician is coming __, you'll want you fixtures before then; we're finishing up drywall, you can start painting and flooring), and responds quickly to your questions and concerns. We had a casual contract: basically, we both signed his bid sheet. We settled on a price, and that was that; he was going to deliver the job, complete. He took care of all permitting. Most specific contract terms were verbal. I made regular payments every several weeks when he would remind me. Items and issues arose. Once, I screwed up some flooring which caused his crew more work, but he took care of it without complaint. The City required a costly, unanticipated, not-discussed partial seismic upgrade which should have increased the price, but
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
took it in stride and didn't charge us. I feel it helped to be flexible with
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
, trust his choices, not sweat details, give him room to work, and go with the flow. He told us what we would be responsible for (e.g., certain fixtures), and gave great advice on "my" areas (e.g., painting tips. He even painted primer on the entire area for free, out of kindness (and maybe feeling sorry for me)). Every home project should be like this: clear vision, on time, on (under) budget, excellent work. A large remodel project is inherently stressful, but
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
is a reassuring presence. He projects confident, positive energy that shows in his work ethic, his control of his crew, and the final product. His results are superb and exhibit solid, high quality workmanship and fit and finish.
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
genuinely seems to love his work, shaping great spaces, improving quality of life, making people happy, creating
Simpsonville Cabinet Makers Provider Name Locked
and beauty.
