"I will never call this company again. They wanted $280 to fix an oven that's only about $400 new. The guy even admitted that the part wasn't very expensive" and it wasn't hard to put on. I opted to pay the outrageous service call fee of $159 instead and just cut my losses. I think $159 is a bit much for the less than half of an hour that they were here.

-Jennifer J.

offered to come to my house the day after I called. The service person arrived on time in the three hour window they had given me, carried" out the routine repair quickly and efficiently. The only issue was the price. The repair took less than 20 minutes, the part replaced was a $30 part (according to the service person) and he asked for $256. That means a $226 labor charge for less than 20 minutes of work--you do the math on the hourly rate. I mentioned twice that I had gotten their name from Angie's List and he offered a $30 discount, so I paid $226. When I had called to make the appointment I asked them their hourly labor rate but the operator just said they charge a minimum of $70 for the visit and did not want to state an hourly labor rate.

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

As stated above, it can vary between companies.

Typically just an inspection implies you do not have a contract or agreement that may include discounts or free repairs.

With our company you would get the annual maintenace service that you should do every year, and if repairs are needed, they are extra, but you aviod paying a "service call charge" that would be related to most repairs, because you are paying for the "inspection" and we are already on site.

Inspections are often discounted in the slow seasons, and can usually be found advertised , at reduced prices , on Angie's List.

So consider Angie's List and find the best of the best in HVAC contractors!

Since you asked this question over a year ago, I'm pretty sure you've already made your decision but I'd like to offer you some advice.  You mentioned your husband vacuumed the coils and it worked for a couple more weeks.  Chances are the condenser coils were very dirty when he did this.  When refrigerator condenser coils are dirty, the compressor overheats and heat will cause a compressor to fail prematurely.  You should vacuum or blow out your condenser coils regularly.  Today's refrigerator compressors are not made to last like they were in the past.  I remember when it wasn't unusual for a compressor to last 30 years.  You won't see that happen with the way refrigerator compressors are made today.  Regular cleaning of your condenser coils is crucial in preventing premature failure of your compressor.  For more tips, check out my article here on Angie's list titled "How To Avoid Appliance Repairs"

Appliance Repair reviews in Seneca

The provider responded to my deal purchase the same day and accomplished the repair the following day. He arrived as promised with a call ahead to let me know he was on his way. He proceeded very quickly to diagnose the problem and fixed it very promptly. He did warn me that it could happen again and, if so, he would come back to change out some switches. The only cost to me if he needed to return would be the cost of the parts. His warranty was for 6 months. He answered all of my questions, although I did not have many as he explained everything thoroughly as he was working. I will definitely call him again for any other appliance repairs I need.

is absolutely awesome! First of all, I had read their rave reviews on Angies List. I called in "after hours" thinking I would be leaving a message for someone to call me back the next day to make appointment. Not the case....
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
answered and then spent 20 minutes on the phone with me asking me about the problem, then telling me all about my particular brand of washer, types of problems they encounter with them, what possibly could be wrong, etc. I made the appointment and at first they just tried a "recalibration" of the machine...hoping it would remedy the problem and save me some money....WOW....bet you haven't hear that very often about repair companies! When the recalibration didn't continue to work, they promptly came back out and installed a part in just a few minutes and told me to start washing clothes.

called on Monday to check to see how everything was going! Now who does that?? I have NEVER had a repair service call back to check on their repair.

Our washing machine at work would not spin or rinse. I learned of the malfunction on Thursday and only work part time. I did not want the wet clothes staying in the washer all weekend since I only work part time. I called
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
and explained the situation. Since the washer is stackable with a dryer on top, they were unable to come out due to the need for 2 men for the job. They were thinking the dryer would have to come off and it would take two men. I understood their situation and kept trying to find someone to come out that day. A short time later,
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
called back and asked if I had a table for one of their guys to put the dryer on . . . of course we did so he sent

out to see how he could help.

was more than helpful and found he could clean the drain screen without having to move the dryer. I was so pleased for the call back and resolution to the problem. It helped for them to know that I had used them before in my home with a refrigerator and that I was a member of Angie's list. They gave me $10 off the service and couldn't have been more professional and helpful. I highly recommend this company.

This is a small business, husband and wife team. They were very nice, friendly, responsive and efficient from the start. They were able to schedule my repair even though my location was out of their area. They bumped up my repair date because I had a flexible schedule and they had an opening - so my repair was done really fast. Took the repair man about 20 minutes and it was fixed and running good. I have used two other local appliance repair companies in the past and I did not like either of them because I felt like they were "scamming" me. The
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
did a great job, I felt like they were honest and upfront with their costs and I would definitely use them again. I have 13 rental units, all with washer and dryers, and will definitely know who to call for a repair in the future.

This person
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
came to my home to look at the freezer and I was told that he will call me and that it would cost $250 to do the repair. I never received a follow up call until several days later. I was waiting for him to call me with the details when he was done as to what was causing the problem and what was needed to do the repair. when he did decide to call me back, not only was he very unprofessional when he called, but he didn't give me any details about the problem. All he said to me was that he called for a part and that the part came in today. Well, it would have been nice for him to communicate that with me the day he came to my home or even 24 hours later. As a customer I am left in the dark as to what you are doing and for you to call me several days later is completely unacceptable. Maybe it works for others but not for me. All he kept telling me was that I can "feel free to call someone else to do the job". He obviously didn't need my business or didn't care about the reputation of this company that he works for. The fact that it's a family owned company says a lot. If you are a true professional, when you call a customer, you not only give your name but the company you represent. He did not do that. HE sounded like a miserable human being and he also sounded as though he does not enjoy what he does for a living. so if that is the case, he needs to retire! I give this company an "F" on every level and they really need to train this employee on how to deal with customers if he is going to continue to work because he clearly has no clue on what customer service means or just doesn't care because he works for a family member. I will be using a PROFESSIONAL SERVICE to resolve my freezer issue. But the icing on the cake was when he hung up on me!

These guys were great at what they were doing fixed our washer which was leaking turned out to be a crack in the main hose. Everything went well the problem was fixed very satisfied with the service and the price we paid for it.

came to home and was very punctual, calling to let me know when he would arrive. He took his time to look at each unit and determined that the compressors are not working. Unfortunately with this type of unit, it doesn't make sense from a cost perspective to fix them so I need to the replace them. He was extremely helpful in explaining and giving me a realistic answer so that I wouldn't pay for unnecessary work. He also asked that I contact him when I am ready to replace. He said he would see if he could get a better price on any unit I was interested in and make sure they were installed properly to maximize the efficiency. He was really great and when I do replace them,

will be my first call.

I had a problem with my refrigerator. Over the past month I noticed that the top shelf had ice on it, as did all the containers on the top shelf and I saw water dripping from the top of the compartment onto the shelf. I tried to remedy the situation myself by lowering the temperature but that didn't help the situation. I finally looked on Angie's List and found
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
. I called and spoke with him and after my short description of the problem he made a
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
suggestion and thought that would solve the problem and IT DID !!! I have to say that I am SOOO impressed with
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
professionalism and honesty. He could have set an appointment to check out the refrigerator himself- and charge me for the home visit - but he didn't. He said if his
Seneca Appliance Repair Services Provider Name Locked
fix didn't work to call him back and he would check it out further. I am happy to have found such an honest repair man and will definitely call him again if I have a problem with any other appliance.
