"I am going through a nightmare experience with
's. Please note that is is my first ever negative review on any site. I am 67 years" old and my husband is 71 years old. We worked with
at Macadams on two properties separated by a common wall. One property had minor issues. The property where we reside has major issues. I picked new engineered hardwood floors for our property, close to 2,000 square feet. At first I picked Acacia wood flooring. I brought the sample to the property and after looking at it on the stairway realized that there was too much variation in the wood for my eyes to be able to tolerate the variation. I immediately wrote
and explained the problem. I have amblyopia in my left eye and diabetic retinopathy in both. I have to get monthly eye shots of Lucentis to hopefully keep my vision. When presented with a lot of variation, particularly black in color, it makes the floor appear as if it is moving. So it was of the utmost importance to me that my home was a livable and comfortable space and that my vision was not negatively affected. The Acacia floor was not ordered. I made it clear to
at that time that I needed a floor with little movement. I also made it clear that I did not want floors from China as I have heard of unsafe levels of formaldehyde in the product and have asthma. After looking at several samples I settled on a sample of Padauk flooring.
assured me that despite some movement on the sample it would not be near as much movement on the actual floor. He also assured me that their floors did not come from China and indeed the tag on the sample stated National Flooring Products which gave no hint of a foreign connection. You can google Paduak floors and contact me personally if you would like to see an actual picture of the sample I was provided with by Macadams at yoliemiller@gmail.com. I met with
at my home when there were 15 rows of the flooring laid. It was impossible to see what the floor would actually look like as several workmen had been walking on the brand new floors with their wet boots and cutting the wood right on site. The granite was also being cut on site, also ordered from Macadams. There was dust in the air and barely tolerable noise level in the house and we left very shortly after arrival. I could tell there was variation in the wood but quite frankly under the layers of dust it was difficult to tell how much. Due to the construction I did not come back into the house until the job was completed. At that time I was stunned to find that the wood looked absolutely dissimilar to the sample and that
's description of the product was inaccurate. In addition, in boxes left behind by the workers we saw the wood came from China! There was a large area of the living room and hallway where the dust was encrusted into the wood and boot prints were everywhere. The house in general was left an absolute mess and there was other damage.
, who was in charge of the project, came over and spent several hours cleaning the floors to no avail. Boot prints were still quite visible. dust was in the crevices of a large part of the brand new floor. The next day we hired a cleaning service. Two days and over $800.00 later they were unable to get the dust out of the crevices on the floor. Since the floor was laid I have not had a moment's peace with the assault of the floor on my eyes. It is impossible for me to go up and down my own stairs without my husband having to accompany to make sure I don't fall, and I still bend over to pick up black things that turn out to be part of the wood. I am not talking wood knows. I am talking what look like black oils spills on the floor that I have been told are caused by filler, used to hide cracks on the floor. The representative from National Flooring Products will not admit to a problem with the floors.
have tried to be helpful and all three have agreed with us that the floor is not acceptable as is. However, their boss refuses to replace the floor for us despite knowing the problem, insisting that the sample was representative of the product, despite
's assurances that there would be little movement in the wood. As of yesterday,
were still here trying to get the problem resolved. They marked the wood boards that were unacceptable. There were so many that they didn't even bother to go through the steps or second floor. Both again agreed they would talk with their boss and get back to me. Today I received a letter from their boss stating that there would be a
put on the property for non payment. I now realize that the "helpfulness" was nothing but marking time until it was time for a
and hurting us further. In addition, our fireplace facing was stopped short on both sides, and it is uneven. Nothing has been done about that. Only lip service. I have pictures to substantiate everything on this review that I would be happy to share with anyone interested in doing business with this merchant. Quite frankly, I would STAY AWAY from doing business with this company. If they send the wrong crew to your house, you could find yourself in the same situation. I live in a house where I suffer from the time I wake up until I close my eyes at night. No one should have to live this way.

"My wife and I did a lot of research before we decided to visit
. We initially talked to one of the “Big Box Stores” who tried" to pressure us into making a purchase the same day they visited our home. My wife then visited a few of the other big flooring stores in Tucson and each one charged us a fee to borrow flooring samples to look at in our house. Eventually, I found Complete Flooring on Angie’s List. At
our salesman was totally professional and extremely patient during our first visit to the store. He answered all of our questions and showed us numerous samples while asking us a series of questions so we would understand the flooring options and what would be the best type and material for our home.
let us borrow three different samples of flooring at no cost after our first visit. During the next month, we visited the
showroom several times to ask follow up questions and borrow different flooring samples. Each member of the staff was attentive, professional, and very patient. Immediately after ordering our flooring, owner
Golden came out to our home and measured the three rooms for the flooring installation. He took precise measurements, explained the installation process and answered all of our questions.
has its own staff of installers. After our installation was complete there were a few ‘hiccups’ and adjustments needed to be made to the floors. No problem…
sent the installers back and the adjustments were made. As the installers were working in our home making the needed adjustments,
came by to see how it was going and made sure it was done right and to our satisfaction. When everything was complete
even sent in a painter to touch up the baseboards. We are so pleased with our flooring. It is beautiful… We have received compliments from family, friends, and delivery people. To the staff: Thank you and we apologize for the late review.
– They are a “CLASS ACT”!!!

Wood floor alternatives

Consumers have many choices beyond traditional hardwood floors, including wood laminate and renewable sources such as bamboo, cork and even leather. Some alternatives look virtually the same as hardwoods.

Although it looks and feels like wood, bamboo is actually a grass. (Photo courtesy of Angie's List member Kent T. of Ossining, N.Y.)

From the wall street journal online:

"Etiquette and tipping experts agree that tipping a contractor and his employees isn't expected because contractors offer to do a job for you at a specific price. Any extra money they would want would be built into their bid. Also, it's a business relationship rather than one where they are performing a personal service for you like a waiter or a maid. But if the employees do extra jobs around the house, then experts say it is appropriate to tip a cash amount equivalent to the task; "tip gifts" such as cookies and drinks can count. "The key to tipping is whether or not it was outside the scope of what was normally expected," says Mark Brenner, author of "Tipping for Success!"

My opinion is that a little bit of courtesy (snacks, drinks, expression of appreciation etc.) goes a long way and upon completion of their work you feel compelled by a job well done to offer a little extra in the form of a tip - go for it, but do not feel obligated.
Agreed.  If you have existing cracking in porcelain you need to know the cause first.  I don't know of any reputable contractor that would dare install tile over existing tile.  Also, any manufacturer warranties for defects would be null due to improper installation.  Did the contractor offer this solution or did you ask for it?  The mear fact that he is agreeing to or offering it tells me you need to leave this guy for someone who knows what they are talking about before he does only half the job which will have to be redone in the near future, costing you more in the long run.

I get so many calls from customers that were talked into a "cheaper" way to do something only to find the work very sub-par.  The sad part is they are out the money they spent in the first place along with the additional amount I have to charge just to undo what the first contractor did before I can do it right.  This floor could end up costing you double what it should if it's not done right.

Flooring reviews in Conway

From our first encounter with
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
, sales person/designer in the
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
showroom, through the final installation,
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
did an outstanding job in answering questions, working with us on the design, measuring our flooring area, ordering materials and completing the hardwood floor installation.
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
provided the best price on this high end engineered hardwood flooring along with the best installation price and we are thrilled with the results. Although we had already explored the Mirage brand of hardwood flooring and were convinced this was the best flooring available for our heated concrete floor,
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
still took time to explain to us the advantages of this product. Their rep for measuring our floor, and the installers, were on time, efficient and polite.
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and his helper did an excellent job of removing the old carpet and installing the new hardwood floor. We live in a condo and there are regulations about hauling out removed carpet and waste materials from the building, and not adding to the Condo waste stream.
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
not only hauled the old carpet out, but they took it to their facility where it is recycled. Other installers in the building working on other units, threw removed carpeting in the building trash. During the installation,
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
and his helper kept the area clean, kept the new flooring from not getting marked up, and were polite and easy to talk to. Overall, it was a pleasure working with
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
on this flooring project, the price was right, and the work was excellent. We would highly recommend
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
in particular for a hardwood flooring installation.

Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
the owner discussed the job with me on a couple occasions and made suggestions on how the tile should be spaced and the pattern. His team showed up on time to demo the original old flooring and were done in one day. The installers worked over the holidays to complete the new tile floor. I provided the tile and the grout didn't match.
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
went to his supplier and had the mix and exact match. We were very pleased with the new floor which was the final item to complete our kitchen remodel. Upon completion
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
followed up personally to make sure I was very happy with the work they had performed. I will use
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
on my next project without hesitation!

The carpet installation went well. They were done in a long day. However the installers had to return (it took several weeks for this to occur.) because they for got to put carpet on a stair riser. They had to return 1 month later to inspect an area where carpet yard got caught in vacuum and pulled out an 18" piece of carpet yarn. They had no solution except to put a rug over the area.
The tile installation went well also except that
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
people failed to order a necessary finishing piece. It was reordered and again it took 2-3 weeks to reschedule an installer. When he returned he found that
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
had again ordered the wrong part. So another three weeks passed before the repair was made.
The piece came loose about two months later and had to be repaired.
It was a frustrating experience.

We had used
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
Floor previously for our kitchen floor tiles and they were remarkable. It's good to know they are consistent in all they do. We went to the store on Saturday, 1/10/15, and met with
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
. We answered her questions and asked our questions and set an appointment for her to come to measure area we need redone (the whole house - approx. 1200 sq. ft.).
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
arrived promptly and we looked at the samples we chosen again. While we looked, she measured. We finalized the purchase and scheduled the installation for 1/23/15. On Tuesday, 1/13,
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
called to say she had a cancellation for installation for Friday, 1/16/15 - would we like the earlier day. We said yes. She said the crew would be here between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. and we should pack up anything fragile or of value and the crew would handle the rest. The 3-man crew arrived at 9:55 a.m. as planned and started working. It was fascinating to watch! Their expertise was apparent right away by the way they handled our furniture. Each crew member knew exactly what his job was and went about doing it. By 3:30 p.m., they were done - and it looks beautiful!! You can't see the seams and everything was replaced where we wanted it. They vacuumed all the floors and cleaned the areas they used outside to cut the carpeting/padding. My husband and I walked all around the house looking for anything that looked wrong or something they might have missed. There was nothing. As with the kitchen flooring, chalk up another perfect job for
Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
!! I couldn't be happier and my neighbors all loved it!! I STRONGLY recommend this company and their staff to do any job I need done. Triple A+!!! I
- Carol G.

He did an excellent job, was very knowledgeable and helpful with design, was very upfront about time expectations (much appreciated) and was VERY affordable. You do not always get what you pay for. An excellent value for the cost. I would highly recommend if you are planning any tile work.
- Mikel L.

Conway Flooring Installers Provider Name Locked
gave me suggestions at my request. I felt better informed about future projects. He measured bedrooms for carpeting and will keep them on file, so no need for a return trip to my home when we decided to get new carpet.
- Elizabeth S.

Everything went well except for a few discrepancies. The worker (1) was rushed towards the end of the installation, the other 2 were moved to another job. Clean up was rushed because it was late on Friday afternoon and inspection was not performed by the supervisor. Consequently there were a few minor problems and they had to return to repair the discrepances.
- Ray T.

Looks great, They were on time, did everything that was agreed upon. My house is 110 years old and the floors were probably original, now all the holes and cracks are filled and everything refinished.
