Dr.
is wonderful, but you have to be ready to have a 2 hour wait to see him. The reason for that is because he takes as much time with you as needed, so he doesn't stick to the usual 15 minutes and then you're out of there. It's been my experience and several other people who see him from where I work that he takes the time to get to know you, your family, and your circumstances. He puts all of that into his diagnosis. When I was on a tremendous amount of medication for my anxiety and depression I knew that I was on too much and I knew that there was something wrong and I went to see him and all of the problems that I was having were side effects of the medication. However they were medications that he felt that he couldn't deal with because they were very specialized. He's the one who sent me to the psychiatrist and psychologist that I see now and if he can't handle it he knows who to send you to and he also has been in town long enough that he knows the right people. He's very good with that, but mostly I really do like the fact that he listens and not only does he give you a diagnosis but he makes sure that you understand the diagnosis. He also makes sure that you feel comfortable with what he's choosing to do and let's you be a part of the decision making process. It's not just as if he writes you a prescription and says that's it. He makes sure that you understand what the prescription is for and that you're comfortable with taking that prescription and its side effects. If you don't need medication and there's an alternative he would also offer that to you as well. He is sometimes difficult to get to see. He's extremely busy because everybody wants to see him. I've been a client for over 10 years, so I can usually walk in and see him. He's not punctual, but I don't mind and you have to be willing not to mind. I go with a laptop, books, magazines, whatever, and I catch up with a lot of work while I wait to see him, but to me it's worth the wait. If you're somebody who wants to just get in and get out or you're going to be angry if you have to wait more than 20 minutes to an half an hour then he is not the doctor for you. His direct nurse is nice, but the rest of them I don't really care for.

Dr
has given me my annual physical for years, including whatever bloodwork is needed and EKG etc. When I have a problem, he listens, asks questions, then determines what testing may need to be done. His diagnoses are spot-on and he refers to specialists when needed only.

Needless to say, the whole process is awful. If you call the office during office hours, the doctors line is picked up by an answering machine that is SUPER lengthy telling you about lab results, office hours, the website, and message return times. You can never reach a live person in the doctors office (even though there are about 4 nurses back there that work for Dr
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
). So you leave a voicemail, then wait for them to return the call. This could be as soon as an hour later, or hours later. As if that whole process wasn't awful enough, the waiting room is filled w/ the cities population of people 70 years old and older. When the nurse calls your name, they never introduce themselves and do not explain what's going on. There is always at minimum a 15 minute wait (and one time i waited in the room, in my cloth
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
for over an hour!) to see Dr
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
. Her bedside manner is not good. She is short, doesn't even look you in the face b/c she's reading the chart, and doesn't explain what she's thinking or doing if you're sick. She hands out a prescription form and leaves. Another nurse picks you up to take you to get tests done. There is always a follow up appointment scheduled so they can charge another $150. One year, during my physical I had some blood work done. I got a letter in the mail about a month later, which said that my range was low in the one of the tests and i should do something about it. That should require a phone call. Not a letter. She is not friendly, she is not patient, and the whole experience often takes 2 hours! I would not recommend anyone going!

One experience I will relate is when I was involved in a ski accident in Colorado and the attending physician in Denver said I should see my personal physician when I return home due to findings in the xrays they took. When I returned home he immediately saw me and scheduled me for a sonogram of my swollen right leg that afternoon at Baptist Hospital next door to his office in downtown Columbia. This was his day off, he attended the sonogram session and was able to see first hand that there was no major problems except trauma, and thus my anxiety was immediately relieved.

Dr.
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
was very patient with me and spent a lot of time with me. It was my first visit, and he was very thorough in learning all about my past medical history. He let me fill him in on what had gone on with me lately, and quietly took notes. I feel I can trust the advice he gave me regarding my medical issues.

Regarding the C for staff friendliness, there's one lady who works there who is deadpan and not exactly warm to patients. The others were fairly nice.

Dr.
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
gave me a warm welcome on my first visit and listened intently to me concerning my symptoms. I was given a medication for my condition and was told to let him know if my symptoms were not improving after a few weeks. We rechecked my blood levels at intervals to see if I was back in the normal range. Once I reached the "normal range" and was still having symptoms, Dr.
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
adjusted my medication further to see if it might help while I promised to have my levels checked as he requested. This process went on for several months and he continued to increase my
Columbia Internists Provider Name Locked
even though the blood tests showed "normal range." He also referred me to a rheumatologist to make sure we weren't missing other possible medical conditions. In 2009 we found out I had a condition that prompted me to seek further medical care at

Hospital in Atlanta, GA based on their expertise. Dr.

has been wonderful with coordinating my on-going care with my doctors at
