Veterinarian Reviews in Charleston

Went very well. In the past, both dogs get pretty wound up at the vet office. They were anxious initially at this office, and remember it's their first time here, and by the end of the visit both dogs were half asleep on the exam room floor! In the past, they could not wait to bolt out of the office. They saw Dr.
(formerly Dr.
) - she was very thorough and took the time to thoroughly explain everthing. She was also very gentle and caring. A couple of weeks ago, I had to take our indoor cat,
, who had some kind of eye infection. She saw Dr.
has bitten every vet she has seen and she did the same with Dr.
. But, Dr.
took in stride and was very patient and took the time, despite
's antics, in doing a very thorough but gentle exam on her.

Very well! Dr.
love for animals is wonderful. We have taken both our dogs and cat there for over 12 yrs. The staff of veterinarians are honest and very helpful. They are first come, first serve so you may have to wait to see a veterinarian. They won't overcharge like most veterinarians East of The

Veterinarian reviews in Charleston

I found the Veterinarian to be most competent. He took his time to go over my dog's condition and gave me some solid recommendations. Unfortunately, our experience with the boarding portion was not satisfactory. The smell in the dog boarding area was beyond nauseating. When I pointed this out during my walk-thru, they suggested that my dog (Chihuahua-very timid) could be kept in the cat area. My dog lives with two cats and they get along great so we happily agreed to this solution. When we dropped her off for boarding on Friday, I reminded the vet assistants that she was very shy especially with strangers but did not bite. We picked her up on Sunday evening, and were told that she would not go outside to walk. We were so happy to see her that we didn't check her over. On the ride home, we noticed that she had a very strong odor and had a

cough. At home we discovered that her fur was matted in feces and her wind pipe was damaged from a choke collar. We left a soft collar when we left her there, Chihuahuas have very delicate throats and any vet would know this. As much as I liked the vet, we will not be back as I have no confidence in her care if I have to leave her there for treatment.

I have two very spoiled beagles and I take them there for nail clipping and that sort of stuff. The last time my husband took them in to have their nails done they did a semi check up on them because when I had taken one of my other dogs in to get her nails done they detected that she had cancer and she died from it. They are really good and in fact when I went in with my new puppy, all the techs came out to see her, gave me a big hug and said that they were glad that I got her and that they hoped I didn’t miss my other dog too much, because they knew that my heart had been broken when the other dog died. I will continue taking my dogs to them in the future.

After arriving to the center and checking in, I was greeted by a warm receptionist who provided me with the necessary forms that needed to be completed to

my pet, and she answered all my questions. A technician took my pet to record her vital signs and informed me of the approximate time the doctor would be able to see my pet. Upon entering the examination room, the doctor extended his hand and was very apologetic for the delay. He ask questions about what I had observed with regards to my pet, and he made notations of his observations as well. He carefully explained what diagnostic tests he would need to complete in an effort to determine my pet's ailment. I requested an estimate for the services and was provided with a detail list. The receptionist also explained the service agreement in addition to having me review the document and initial areas which stated the cost for services and acceptable methods of payment. The compassion shown to me and the care given to my pet made an extremely difficult situation bearable. After the tests were completed, the doctor carefully explained the results and told me what he thought was a possible diagnosis based on my pet's symptoms. He also explained that further tests would need to be completed via an internist to pinpoint specifically what was the problem. He was not condescending in his

nor was he speaking above my head. He effectively communicated his findings but was also sensitive to me as well.
I was given the option to make an appointment with my pet's primary vet, or I could be referred to the internist that was affliated with the center. Because of the staff's demeanor, I decided to see the internist that the doctor referred me to, and I asked once again for an estimate. The doctor contacted the internist and was able to provide me with an estimate in a very short amount of time. My pet was hospitalized for three days and saw the internist upon being released from the emergency room. I was able to call and check on my pet throughout the night and visit with her, which provided me with a little peace of mind. The doctor kept me informed with morning and afternoon updates of my pet's condition and progress. Because of the care, concern, and compassion shown to me, I felt that medical attention was focused on my pet's care and overall health. I was humbled and very appreciative of the staff's efforts on behalf of my pet and me. My overall experience was positive due to the high-level professionalism that was displayed and the empathy that was shown for my situation.

Every time I had an appointment prior to my last appointment, I had to wait a minimum of 30 minutes, sometimes longer. Once inside the exam room, I was given only minimal time by any of the vets until I finally saw Dr.
Charleston Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
, who was outstanding and noticed symptoms missed by the other vets. He was thorough, compassionate, followed up with me on a weekend with a phone call. He referred me to another clinic which had the most up-to-date diagnostic equipment. Based on his recommendation, I transferred all my animals' records to the clinic he had recommended.

They are one of the best places you could take you pet. There is two vets there. The one veterinarian owns the hospital. When we first started taking our pets there, Dr.
Charleston Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
owned it. He decided he would rather treat large animals, so he sold it to another veterinarian who was just out of veterinary school. They diagnosed our cat with mega colon. They don't do that particuar type of surgery, but they called in a surgeon who removed our cats colon. They are very forthright about options. They will tell you all of your options and then make their recommendations, but it is always up to the client what they choose to do. They said we could put the cat down, but they thought he would do very well without a colon. We only have one cat and no children, so we went ahead with the surgery. He has done very well. We had a cat in 2005 that had a cancerous tumor in a mammary gland. They removed it, but she stopped breathing twice. They put her in an incubator because her temperature was down. She died through the night. I was in the hospital at that time, but when I got home the veterinarian called me to explain to me what had happened. I trust them and their technicians and knew they did everything they could for her. I don't blame them for what happened to her. She was an older cat with other health problems. We have a church friend who is a veterinarian and she said that type of cancer spreads rapidly. They really love their work, people, and animals. They will do whatever it takes to help. They are the best veterinarian we have ever been to.

Overall we had a wonderful experience. The staff was very friendly and my dog felt very comfortable. He normally never eats treats at the vet or any place where he is nervous but the vet offered him a reward and he promptly enjoyed it. I was nervous to try the clinic after reading one review posted but I am really glad I did.

His services were reasonably priced, he was professional and competent. Dr.
Charleston Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
showed such compassion during that most difficult time at the end. When we showed up on that last day at his office, he had us brought back to a private room so that we didn't have to wait out front with his other patients. We felt like he really cared above and beyond what one would ordinarily expect from a veterinarian. At some point, we may be ready for another canine friend and when we do, Dr.
Charleston Veterinarians Provider Name Locked
hopefully will be able to accommodate us in caring for that new pet.

I take my dog to get a wellness exam and blood screening once a year. I find this service very valuable because it has raised an issue that needed to be addressed that could have impacted the health of my dog. The office is always neat and clean, and the staff are very friendly and compassionate. My little dog isn't even afraid to go to the doctor's office because she is treated so well.
