"Very professional and prompt. The shirts and hoodie are amazing looking. The details of the graphics are clear and amazing. Can't wait to receive the custom color decals for the car.

-Michael T.

"We tried to reschedule at least five times. We called and called and asked for some type of response. Every time we were told that we would get a phone call within" the next couple of days but that never happened. It's now been two months since we have tried to schedule a time for him to return and do the upholstery work. Not sure why a business can't return a phone call?

Many people are unfamiliar with hiring someone to do custom sewing or tailoring. It’s important to have a clear idea of what type of garment you want and to understand the process of ordering custom apparel.

Because clothing for formal occasions is rarely worn, alterations may be necessary. If alterations are needed, allow yourself plenty of time to have them completed. (Photo courtesy of Angie’s List member Barbara S.)

Clothing alterations can make a big difference in your overall appearance. Minor alterations will make the most major impact. Knowing what to look for in a tailor and what can and can't be fixed is the first step.

You would have to have a shoe repair shop evaluate them - some heels are hollow except at the tip so you might not be able to shorten them and retain the necessary strength - others are solid, so he would have to look at them. Might be able to just remove heel cap, cut down, and put heel cap back on.

Bear in mind that cutting the heels down will rock the shoe "backwards", so you will be walking on sole further back on the shoe - if the unthickened sole part betweenthe heel and the ball of the foot would be walked on because of this, you might have to pay him to add leather there to, which might mean resoling the entire shoe - could get pricey, if these are not worth hundreds of $.

As for evaluating a shoe repai place - only thing I can think is if these are pricey shoes, call store and see if they recommend a particular place. Otherwise Search Angies List for sheo repair places and reviews.

was not equipped to provide the service I needed, they were very polite and helped point me in the right direction to someone who could help me out. In the future I would try them out if I have any other type of embroidery that needed to be done due to their high degree of professionalism and close proximity to where I live.

It was extremely reasonable; cheap. He had very quick turnaround time and he was very thorough. He did quality work. I needed slits cut in the side being in the wheel chair, so it wouldn’t bunch up the jacket, and he took the length off of one jacket, opened up the back so that they would come around and fit more smoothly in the front. He put extra fabric in the underarms and the back of the shoulder so that I could move my arms and drive without removing the jacket, so I have better motion with my arms. He did it in a way that you couldn’t even tell that anything was different than anybody else’s jacket. He knew what he was doing and it was amazing.

She tried. She was very accommodating. She told me the things that she could do but she couldn’t do what I wanted done and I thought it didn’t make sense to part of it and not all of it. It was a very positive experience. They were very friendly. They just couldn’t do what I needed.

This company is excellent. It is skillful, punctual and careful. The pickup and delivery are very convenient. I have used this service for several years and recommend it highly.
- Jon T.

I was amazed at the quality of the results. Although each repair area was carefully marked with a removable, white thread, it was impossible to detect exactly where the repair was made.
This sort of service is almost impossible to find. Try searching the internet/phonebook or other sources to find someone who repairs cashmere sweaters.
. After a telephone discussion, the sweater was mailed to the shop. The repair was completed in about two weeks and mailed back to me, invoice included, by Priority Mail, one-day service. I was able to review the work prior to writing a check for the service. Amazing.

Sorry this is late..but life happens.
For this story, we need to go back to August of 2014. I take a trip to MI each summer to see family and friends. Last year I was set to go, but things were changed. My best friend needed surgery and needed help. The stay would be from any where from 4-12 weeks.
I had purchased some dresses for my trip, but I needed to have some things done to them to make them fit. I am small on top, so I had learned from my previous seamstress that the best thing was to have bra cups put in. So I read all the reviews and went with
Woonsocket Tailors Provider Name Locked
I took the dresses to her and explained what I needed and she said no problem. I tried each dress on and she pined the places where the cups needed to be and also on a couple of dresses where they need to be taken in on the sides. She said she would have them ready for me and if I picked them up at her dry cleaners, they would be pressed also. She told me if I picked them up around 6PM she would be here. And because I really don't know my way around very well I agreed. Well, getting there was a big mess, her directions weren't very good and the place was 45 minutes from where I lived. When I got there, she wasn't there and the women who were there did not speak English.
My friend went with me to pick them up and we both couldn't believe how badly they had done the dresses. And they weren't pressed! They used white thread on each dress and white bra cups. One lady kept saying bra and pointing at a light brown dress. Well, the bra cup and thread was visible through the fabric. The cups were so loose that they kept moving around. Not a good fit.
However, there was nothing to be done. I was leaving the next day, I told the ladies the best I could that I was unhappy and would call when I could.
I received a call from
Woonsocket Tailors Provider Name Locked
and she asked what was wrong. I explained that I was out of the state (I had already told her about my trip) and would stop by or call when I got back.
Fast forward to January 2015. I took the dresses back to have them fixed. Ha(n?) was there and we (me and my friend) started talking to her and explaining what the problem was. I was in mid sentence when a customer came in. She immediately turned and went to the new customer and help them. Came back to us, having to be reminded of what we were talking about. She did this twice, instead of saying to the new customers, I will be right with you. So it took longer for us to explain things. When she finally understood, she said she would have them ready the next day. She had told us that she had been really busy and a family member was in the hospital. So being the nice person that I am, I told her to take a week and I would pick them up at her shop, not the dry cleaners.
I picked them up (again, she wasn't there and hardly any English speaking. I took them home, tried them on and was so disappointed. The bra cups ended up on the sides of the dresses and basically was under my arm., One bra cup on each dress came close to being in the right place, but were still off. I am no longer a happy person. I needed these done now, because I am going on my first cruise at the end of the month and wanted to take a couple with me.
My friend and I went back last week to see about getting my money back. The lady I had dealt with wasn't
Woonsocket Tailors Provider Name Locked
when we got there and after telling them I wanted my money back, they called her, told her I wanted my money back. They gave me the phone so she could talk to her. She asked me who I was and what was my problem. I reminded her and when I stated that I wanted my money back she started yelling at me and said I was rude. When I asked why I was rude, she said it was because I wanted my money back and proceeded to keep yelling at me. I took the phone from my ear and started to tell them I was done talking, when my friend took the phone and tried to talk to her. I could hear her yelling at my friend and wouldn't let her get a word in. We never raised our voices or were rude.
I didn't know that Lnhn's Alterations was owned by two ladies. The other lady begged me to come back on Monday and talk to the other lady and work this out. I told the other ladies that I was through, that I would not deal with someone who had yelled at me and my friend. I told them that they should watch Angie's List for my review.
And now, I can't take my dresses on my cruise because I don't have time or the money to get them fixed. This is the second trip that I am unable to take the dresses on. I want my money back and a written apology to my friend.
